thanks jeff! yeah its gonna be quite a lot of info to compress into a vid but will do my best! can be tough to be critical of sources as well because there is a lot of conflicting and possibly biased research out there done by the manufacturers trying to sell you their new innovative wheelset ;)
In that video can you also talk about super light weight tubes as well like Conti Supersonic? Is there any risk running those? What pressure to use? Under what condition to use etc. Cheers! :)
though I'm not the one being asked... I have used Conti normal and lightweight and Latex tubes from Michelin, Vittoria and Challenge (and tubulars). No difference between normal Contis and the light ones; the latex tubes are a bit trickier to mount, but MUCH smoother ride and feeling safer in corners, no problems with punctures at all. So when super light tubes, I would take latex - similar weight as Supersonic, but much better in use
Thanks mate! Never heard of latex personally, maybe next time i check it out. Reason was asking is the manual of my new Conti TT tyres stated not to use light or supersonic tubes and was wondering what the reason might be.
hm, I'm wondering too what reason it shall be... but for TT tires I would recommend latex tubes more than ever - because furthermore they give lower rolling resistance! The only downside is that they loose a tight bit air pressure by time (0.5-1 bar per day), but as You will not ride ultra-marathons as TT that should not be an issue 😊 Btw: the tires of the pros have latex tubes without an exception, Continental Competition Pro Ltd, Vittoria Corsa, Dugast, Veloflex, FMB and so on - they all have them!
