In my experience they all have the same level of "rub off ability" however once they dry down a bit they don't budge that much unless you are like actively rubbing your head against something. However once you are dressed there really shouldn't be any issues of it getting anywhere or I'd suggest getting dressed first and then spraying with a cape or towel on if you are that concerned. I've never had any issues with it staining clothes, but also I'm not that attached to my wardrobe - as a mom of a 4 yr old most of my clothes aren't that valuable.
It does give a certain texture to the hair. I always liken it to like day 4 of dry shampoo lol. I've also never had an issue with staining, but I am aware that it can. (As I said it stains my daughter's hair) but we've never had issues on skin or clothes.
Thanks for the info! My ID Expires in a month & I don’t wanna have an ID with pink hair hahah looking for a temporary spray hair dye to do my Natural dark brown without compromising my pink hair hahah
Do you think if i spray my whole head with a coat of hairspray and then spray black that it would protect my hair from staining? I really want to spray my hair black for a costume, but i don't want to compromise my currently lilac hair 😭
Hmmmmm....it's really hard to say. I don't see why that wouldn't work, but I have never tried it. Maybe do a test strand/chunk to see if it would work - then you'll feel a bit more secure about the decision to do it on your whole head.
EDIT: oh my god lol RIGHT after I posted this comment, it was 8:35 came in. YUP. That’s so funny that I also mentioned getting a headache!! It’s really THAT strong and gross. I sprayed a wig once I realized I wasn’t gonna be able to do my head. And it’s been 8 months! I just recently opened the box the wig was in, and the scent was OVERWHELMING 😫 …. I got a few brands of these, like the B Wild. The SMELL was almost unbearable! Like an old lady French perfume but so overwhelming it felt hard to breathe when it was on. And I got a headache almost immediately lol
I'm trying dor the first time a white coloured hair spray, it's by Goodmark, Halloween section of a store. Bought it for 3 euro....I'm light brown and genuinely scared now
I don't have experience with that specific brand - but white generally doesn't stain like blacks or blues. However if you're nervous you could do a test strand before using it on your whole head or putting a layer of gel or regular hairspray down first might help.
I've never had issues with it staining clothes. However, I could see certain brands/colors maybe having the potential for staining. I'd maybe pretreat the area before washing if you're concerned
Um - my first thought is baby powder lol Many of the grey sprays out are silver. They have a metallic shine to them. You can spray them from further away but there is no guarantee. They don't make a matte grey spray - at least not that I've seen. So you might be better off using a powder of some sort. They will truly give you a dusty affect.
I think if you really want the color to stand out doing white first would be ideal - however there are certain reds that can go over darks and still be vibrant. Maybe do a test strand before your event to make sure your desired color works out
I currently have green hair (as seen in my current pfp) but want to have my hair black for my costume… anyone know if the black L’Oréal will stain bright green hair??
There is always a risk of staining. I've personally never had any issues with staining but maybe do a test strand first. Some other things that may help is spraying a layer of just normal hairspray first to create a barrier then going in with the black spray. Also style your hair before spraying so you're only getting what needs to be colored
I think so. I would wait until the leave-in or oil is set or has had a chance to soak in before I applying it. There may be some issues with color intensity spraying it on oiled hair, like when chalk gets wet if that makes sense. It works best on dry hair.
Thanks for including the Dark n Lovely brand. I am thinking of adding white color spray or silver color spray to synthetic box braids. So the issue of being able to comb through it after spraying is not a problem. Of the brands that you reviewed do you have a sense of which ones would "stick" to black or dark brown synthetic braids the best? I'm going for a sharply defined, intense color on the last 3 or 4 in of the braids.
The dark and lovely if you can find it would work well The loreal colorista would also work well - but I have been told on VERY dark hair you may need to do a few coats which may result in needing multiple cans - however it might not absorb into the synthetic hair like it can on natural hair. You could also try hair "makeup" which is a cream color - a few different brands out there but they aren't easy to find.
I bleach my hair and use semi-permanent dye over top and I've never had issues with the spray color ruining my color or hair. However there is potential for staining on blonde hair (dyed or not) and also potential for staining in general depending on hair porosity. I've never had issues on my own hair and when my daughters hair stained it washed out in about 3 washes
The only blonde spray I know about is the loreal magic root touch up - it comes in blonde but I've never used it so I'm not sure how well it covers dark brown. However the loreal sprays are my favorite to use
The silvers I've seen and used are very metallic - which isn't a problem but definitely be aware it's very Shiney metallic NOT sparkly grey if that makes sense
@@kirbyrosebeauty Hmmmm, I ordered one and waiting for it. Manic panic came out with this which may be more gun metal. MANIC PANIC Silver Stiletto Hair Color Spray - Amplified Temporary Spray-On Instant Hair Color, Washes Out Easily - Icy Silver Shade with Lavender Tint
No - just someone who likes to dabble in doing their own hair to save some money here and there. I did go to cosmetology school way back in high school lol and where as many products and "technologies" change the processes remain *mostly* the same - I just always read the instructions lol 😆 😅
@@kirbyrosebeauty Well it is very helpful for us! I wish I could find a direct dye to take on grey (natural white) hair that would give me a smoky shadow root. At 57 fashion colors are not my thing!
I don't have direct experience with the party city ones - but I believe they are a lot like the Walmart ones. I would think that certain colors have more potential to stain than others such as black, purple, blue, red, etc.
You'll have little issue using colored hair spray on blonde hair and it showing up. The worry would be with staining. My daughter has that issue sometimes. A person told me that if you use a layer of regular hairspray first that gives a bit of protection but I've never tried it
Yeah many of the cheaper brands seem to basically just be like a spray paint. To this date I've personally never had any issues with staining but sometimes I will put a layer of regular hairspray on first to add a "protective layer" idk if it actually does anything but I think it does.
