David Ruffin was the lead singer of this group "The Temptations". When he died of a drug overdose, it was found out that all the money he made as a singer, was spent on drugs. He was broke, when he died. Michael Jackson, being a huge fan of David Ruffin, actually paid for that man's funeral as well as getting him a grave stone and buried.

@@JCourts2k23 So the story is this. In 1967, a young man named Rodger Penzabene wrote “You’re My Everything” for The Temptations. He wrote it for his wife, who was his high school sweetheart. Later in the fall of 1967, Rodger found out his wife was cheating on him. He begged her to stay with him, and they tried to work it out, but she kept sleeping with another man. She then asked for a divorce. This broke Rodgers heart, and from that he wrote two hits for the Temptations, I Wish It Would Rain, and I Could Never Love Another (After Loving You), which was the last hit song by The Temptations sung by David Ruffin before he was fired for Dennis Edwards. Both those songs are about his wife leaving him for another man and his broken heart from it all. A week after I Wish It Would Rain was released as a single, on New Years Eve 1967/1968, Rodger Penzabene committed suicide at age 23 due to the divorce. It makes you really see and feel the pain he had in his souls when you read the lyrics with this in mind.

These guys were incredible! I had the privilege of seeing them live about 4 years back, and the last original member was there still singing and dancing away with them on stage... pretty sure I had an out of body experience 😂🙌🏽

Check out the movie “The Temptations.” It’s a great movie that delves into the history of both the group itself and each of its members. I can’t count how many times I’ve watched it!

My favorite singing group and that classic choreography made them a unique group!! I grew up listening to them!!🙌🏽 Originals: David Ruffin -lead tenor Otis Williams, tenor Paul Williams, -baritone Eddie Kendricks, tenor Melvin Franklin-Bass The lead went to Dennis Edwards tenor who join the original group later after Ruffin left But No One could compare to them!! Temptations the Best!!!🎶🎶🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤

I havent heard this song since I used to dance to it at the Northern Soul nights I used to go to here in the UK. A group of us would hire a coach with driver to drive us to Wigan to go to the All Nighters and drive us home again in the morning, all we would do was drink water and dance all night. The DJs would go to the USA and bring back soul records for us to dance to, this was in 1978/79.

The Temptations were Revolutionary! They were the Prototype for every Male R&B Vocal Group. Their imprint is everywhere. The Delfonics, Stylistics, Whispers, New Edition and Boys to Men ect....... At the time of their inception no other group had the flawless harmonies, combined with the synchronized choreography of the Temptations. They are the greatest male r&b vocal group of all time. They set the standard for all male r&b vocal groups that preceded and/or followed them.
