In this video, we take a look at a little known episode of the Mongol invasion of the Khwarezmian Empire: Temur Malik, a Khwarezmian who defied the Mongols. While Chinggis Khan's armies ravaged the empire of Khwarezm, Temur Malik, the governor of Khujend, resisted in an exciting escapade. For his exploits, he is today remembered as a national hero in Tajikistan. After, we then have a look at Juvaini, our source for this chapter, and the significance of this story.
