I understand that you had to stack the cards vertically because of playing space, but if you overlap them horizontally, the sides of the cards form a fun design.

Nikki would have been better served using that wild non-colored # as a 4 orange at 42:14, it would have given her 2 points rather than the 1 point she gained by placing it at the front of her blue stack. Wilds are more valuable when they join runs.

That's one of the things I found interesting about this game. The Value of the cards is different at a glance and can change from player to player and moment to moment. Even the Wilds value changes not only based on how you use them, But they aren't as over powered as in other games that tend to have wilds because of how many of most cards exist and many in different ways all four of them can technically make the same runs. And then with the Auction Mechanic on top of it. It makes it hard to truely block out opponents from most cards unless you get really lucky.

good game - at first i thought it was unnecesarily complicated - Im still a little confused on currency and busts etc - but towards the end of the video I could see the tweaks to a push your luck game

Same. During the instruction I thought this was too complicated for a press your luck card game. After watching how it played I just ordered a copy from AEG.

It took me a while to figure out how to teach it without it seeming like there were 100 exceptions. I finally figured out to just explain the concept of drawing cards until you either take something or bust, then explain that there are 4 outcomes. 1. Take the number cards, buy if you want, give everyone else the money. 2. Take the money, but you can't buy, everyone else gets nothing. 3. Bust on number cards, give everyone the money, take a bust token. 4. Bust on money, take a bust token.

I felt like the currency would have worked better if everyone had their own supply of ten chips. You would need to be careful to clearly distinguish between the supply and chips you own, but it'd be far easier to see when you're only a few chips away from the max.

Everyone could have 10 differently-sided chips, flipping the chips on the "used" side when using them.

At roughly 37 minutes Lincoln bought a card (green 5 I think), when he could have bought the orange 1 for less currency and the same point increase. Is this correct?

The first time you mention about push your luck, I remember a game with same genre, pirate theme, and each card has ability. I believe it was on your channel somewhere in GameNight! Can someone remind me?

This isn't a complex game. And yet there is just something about the fiddliness of the rules. It's hard to teach. Too many IFs and BUTs for such a simple concept. You can buy a card, but only if you take cards. You collect a bust token, but only if you bust on numbers. You can only have 10 money, but bust tokens don't count. On and on with the rules that work slightly differently in a different circumstance. I want to like this game, I bought it just because I loved the cards, but I totally feel one more pass at smoothing out all the tiny exceptions would have done it a world of good.

Nikki actually scored 17. She forgot to score the single red card worth 1 point. Edit: never mind Dave caught it later in video :)

She actually scored 18. If she'd used the wild non-colored # as an orange 4 rather than a blue 1, she would have joined the orange 5 to the orange 3 and gotten 1 more point than she got by placing the # to complete a suit. Longer runs with less cards are worth less than shorter runs with more cards, provided those runs are all continuous in their colors.

Could Nikki buy the orange 4 to extend the run? She had dead cards to use. Her orange would have added 2 more points with the 4-5.

Wait, I thought you only get the white token if you bust on currency based on 7:00

He didn't say it, but you get a bust token either way, but if you bust with numbers, your opponents get the currency that is showing when you bust. If you bust with currency, no other currency is handed out. Either way, you get a bust token, and the number cards go to the market.
