I discuss ten incense-centered fragrances in my collection that evoke the liturgical, devotional, the ritualistic... Music: Eberhard Schoener "Meditation, Part 1" From the album Meditation (1973). Buy Me a Coffee! www.buymeacoff...
I've wore Relique D'Amour yesterday and I was left speechless by its beauty. There is no word to properly describe such a scent. I was instantly filled with melancholy and I realized that I know nothing about perfume.
I just bought Full Incense from Montale yesterday and today I found your video. I was actually looking for these type of fragrances. So far I smelt: Cardinal by Heeley, Sancti by Les Liquides Imaginaires and Purpose by Amouage. They all give me the same vibe, of course, each has its own characteristics . Thank you for the video!
These sound gorgeous but it’s hard to really know what your speaking of or on. I love incense, I adore High Mass. the only incense I have that I know of is by Sonoma Scent Studio~Incense Pure, and I love it. I feel like a million dollars lol while wearing it. I wonder why I’m not familiar with these that your mentioning, because I would want to seek the out. Talk about heaven. I want to sniff all of these.
I had La Liturgie des Heures and sold it because of two reasons: the top green notes are harsh and seem detached to the the rest composition, so you have to wait about 40-50 minutes until they gone, and, however the base is a nice warm woody-myrrhe scent, it's completely unweareble, because - why the hell a human should smell like an orthodox church? It's not parfumery but abstract olfactive exercise.
Despite owning most of the fragrances you mentioned, your words describe them so well one can really smell them through your words. I totally respect you.
I love the drydown of La Couche du Diable, but struggle with the scent up to about an hour after spraying😧 And now I really want to try the Relique D'Amour and Avignon. Thanks for introducing!😊💗
Glad I found your channel. Very informative. I just am getting in to fragrances( for years I just wore Fahrenheit and Tere D'Hermes) and I found really like incense scents. At first I made the mistake of sampling many things with the note of "smoke" which is really different. I really enjoy the darkness of Laudano Nero but the boozy notes are not really my thing. I like Zadig and Voltaire This is Him but it doesn't last. Wish I could find a more high quality version of that. I have samples of Unum Lavs and CDG coming in. Some of these others look very interesting too.
I adore Reve d’Ossian and it was a close contender! I wanted to feature only one fragrance from any single house and it was edged out just a bit by Relique d’Amour! Reve is more balsamic and benzoin forward of a fragrance, but truly wonderful.
Thank you for your educational and atmospheric videos. Somehow they make me reflect much deeper then just fragrances. I’m binge watching them. I’m definitely going to experience some of OL Legrand perfumes. I don’t have much experience with incenses. I quite like Rosarium. It’s not challenging and gives me soothing, spiritual and idyllic vibes even in tropical summer.
Greetings JJ ,ah incense I’m little apprehensive when it comes to churchie styles of incense, it unfortunately harkens back to my alter boy days in the days of yore , I was chosen to be the incense burner carrier and let me tell you swinging that thing for an hour solid can take a lot out of a young boy ,in a clawing overwhelming fashion ,not to mention I seemed to always get the overly long cassock robe thing ,which if you recall Dopey from the 7 dwarfs then you can agree it was a serious trip hazard. However I think I have turned a corner in my appreciation of incense if taken in moderation ( non churchie of course ) fun story lol 😂cheers JJ always a blast and an education 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✌️🙏👍
I love the Dopey from the 7 Dwarfs imagery 🤣. Perhaps more Eastern incenses would suit you! Out of these, the last five may spare you the connotations. 😉
Nice list JJ, this style really speaks to me as I'd love nothing other than to smell like an orthodox church on fire. There's a few in here I don't have which i'll need to get my nose on, and one for you if you haven't checked it out is Papyrus Oud 71 by Parle Moi Parfum
Thats what i waiting for, Big J!! My perfect mood fragrances, my perfect fragrance genre. I m the master of liturgical resins, i live for resins in parfumery and they re all a must for me. I think one of the most succesfull and the most realistic way of rendering the liturgical, dark, meditative, overwhelming aspects is, without a doubt: Soricinelli, my favourite. Also, a new discovery of mine, its the new release from Histoires de Parfums: Encens Roi, its splendid, please, test it!! Its a must for the lover of the genre. That Encens Roi its a complex dominant franckincense but mixed beautifully with some sweet-balsamic aspects, of sweet amber, dark almost chocolaty patcouly and some beautiful spicy pimento. Also the most realisthic atlas cedar its in the game. All in all, great content, as usual, big Bravo, big J!
