I just got back Saturday from a trip on the Escape. If you love mojitos, Sugarcane Bar was phenomenal. And Leila and Roy who worked there were my favorite cruise workers on the whole cruise. Also Syd Normans theme shows were out of this world. And Jack the cruise director was like a British Ryan Seacrest! Also loved listening to Ben play piano at District

We didn’t spend much time at Sugarcane or Syd Norman’s, but those sound like solid recommendations. I loved hanging out and listening to the piano performances at the District Brew House too. Thanks for sharing tips!

The sugarcane mojito bar is the one of the best in the entire fleet also if someone is a solo guest they almost always have a solo gathering at one of the bars on the ship so that is great too

Any advice on how to select a cabin room? Is it a good idea to pick a room close to the elevators? Mid ship? High deck, medium? It’ll be our first cruise and I just want to make things easy! Thank you!

I am sorry about the delayed response on this question, but I just saw it. Regarding your question, It depends on what your preferences are. Being near the elevators is a convenient option. You may have more traffic outside your door, but the noise from the actual elevator area should not be a factor. You may be tempted to book a cabin right below or above a deck with popular public areas, but those rooms can be the noisiest. Quieter rooms are usually found adjacent to other cabins (deck above, below as well as next to your room). If you are concerned about motion sickness, select a midship room on a lower deck. Sailing the Escape this Summer. Super excited! Thank you for the useful tips! Been cruising NCL for 20+ years and absolutely love them! But, we bring our Yeti insulated bottles and fill up with the water from the buffet or our stateroom. The ship water is filtered using reverse osmosis technology. The cleanest water on the planet. I also found a weird taste in the carton water. Used to love the wings at O'Sheehan's too. But they bake them now instead of frying... good flavor, but the skin is a bit rubbery in my opinion. But, their nachos are amazing!

Quick question, are prices at lunch for food republic different? Really want to go but out of our party of 8 maybe only me and a few others would like it and we have one that is allergic to shellfish so I’m debating doing it al Carte inside for lunch rather than using our dining package on it when we’ll use it for another place we can all eat

Thanh’s for watching. The menu, and prices, didn’t change between lunch and dinner as far as we could tell after having both meals there. They do have a selection of items that are neither sushi nor seafood. We were never more than second in line at the hostess stand. However, we saw times when there were groups of people waiting for a table. Peak times seemed to be the afternoon of embarkation day and breakfast time an hour or so prior to arriving in a port of call. Avoid peak meal times and you should get seated very quickly. NCL’s Free at Sea is the name of a frequently offered promotion, but it can vary (by name and/or offer specifics) over time. It also may not be available in all countries and on all sailings. This week in the USA they are running their Annual Freedom Sale. If you click on the terms and conditions you will see that the offer supporting the sale is actually the Free at Sea promotion. We suggest contacting NCL or your travel agent for details. Thanks for watching!

We are going on May 21. Four of us, but only 1 that drinks. So I didn't agree to the free drinks deal. However, we all want water in our cabins. Any tips? Plus I heard that you are not allow to bring package of bottle water any more. A bottle of wine to celebrate yes??

Sounds like you made the right choice declining the drink package. You would have probably paid more in gratuities on the package than the one drinker will spend ordering individual drinks. You can order water to be delivered to your room. You can find it with the other drink packages listed on your cruise planner on NCL.com. It is listed as a “package,” but you are really just purchasing a set number of cartons of water for your cabin. We haven’t taken wine onboard, but we understand that it is still allowed. I would check with NCL on that though, as the rules do change from time to time. Thanks for watching. Have a great cruise!

@@CruiseDayFun Hi. Can one opt out of the drink package if Free at Sea is offered? In other words, can the Free at Sea package price be reduced if the drink package is not included?

@@thedeal9526 you can opt out of the drink package. The only change in your price will be to avoid the drink package’s required gratuities, but that will be a significant savings (currently 20% of what NCL values the package at). Thanks for watching!

@@CruiseDayFunI see a previous post has said you can fill up a water flask from the buffet or stateroom, hence you don’t really need the water cartons. Would this still be correct?

#1 tip I would recommend is to avoid this ship. Ship is very nice and the food and waitstaff are incredible. There is not enough pool areas to accommodate the guests onboard, if you do not get up early to get a pool chair, you will have a difficult time getting one. Lastly the embarkation and disembarkation are complete nightmares.

Thanks sharing your experience. We found the boarding and disembarking experience (at Port Canaveral) very chaotic too. We aren’t big pool people, but it did appear small, especially when you consider the large ship capacity. Thanks for watching!
