What a great pedal and tone..! I see Larry Carlton is using a zenkudo when he`s not utilising his main Dumble/Bludo rig. I saw Larry play live with the zenkuo and his usual 335..and the tone was outstanding. Mr Tanabe is certainly onto something with his pedals..! Great video and demo thanks.. Cheers
I have DumZen Twin. Done extensive testing, the ONLY difference between the two sides is that the Dumkudo is capable of more drive- that is IT . Both sides/pedals will go from clean boost to lots of drive. I have a long LONG discussion of this pedal on the web.
Hi Mark! Thank you for your interest. Basically I use a "minor to major" approach. I mean : chords are Fm Gm and CMaj, so on the first two chords I play Cm eolian (Eb major) and, on CMaj I play C Lydian most of the time. Another cool way of playing this way is to play C minor pentatonic over Fm and Gm and B minor pentatonic (D major pentatonic) over Cmaj for a sophisticated lydian sound (ex at 2:08). Cheers!
Awesome tone, I also have a 335 and tele but I'm not sure which one to get Zenkudo or Dumkudo? I know Mr. Tanabe makes a pedal with both models in one but is it worth the extra $150 on top of the price of the Zen/Dumkudo single pedal? Owners of the Dumkudo were complaining it gets too loud past 9 o'clock, thanks for making the video.
..Hi Ivan, first of all thank you very much the kind words. To be honest, me too I noticed that the "sweet spot " of the Zenkudo is a lot loud compared to other overdrive pedals. Considering this, I usually use it as a stand alone overdrive sound, set at "solo" volume. Regarding the Zen/Dumkudo in one single pedal I'm sure It's a glorious combination... I've never tried the Dum, but I have to say also that, if it's true that it has more gain than the Zen, It's also true that you can place a clean boost before the Zenkudo (as I do!), to increase the gain when you need it. Hope you find it helpful! Cheers.
