good job Josh.you could always gently flick out the seal on the new bearings and add some decent grease too the bearing.i do and noticed the bearings last so much longer too.
@MVDBR
@MVDBR 3 года назад
I did that in another vid one time and some people reckon it's a bad idea, some say it's a good idea lol. It was All Balls bearings I did it to and it made no difference to the longevity of those pieces of shit sadly. But yeah possibly would help with quality bearings, although I'd hope that the quality bearings have a decent amount of grease to start with 🤷‍♂️ cheers

@15:10 try a couple of bits of cut garden hose pipe josh, then knock it out when inserting the axle ...... carry then in my tank bag they weight nothing and saves all the fiddling and dropping (or worse loosing them) if you need to do a puncture on the trail...

Nice one mate……the only thing I’d add is plenty of grease is good, but on the seal I’d use either a specific seal lube or rubber grease at the least, I’ve seen your normal high temp bearing greases effect the rubber and stuff the seal due to the properties of the grease 👍

i've replaced stock bearings on my bike at 75k and they still had some life left to be honest. I can't imagine why anyone would recommend replacing them preemptively at 15k on a bike like tenere, unless you have some obvious issues during inspection (hard to rotate, sticking, noise etc) that could happen if debris gets past the seals. But obviously nothing like that happened on your motorcycle.
@MVDBR

I wouldn't even try to get 75k out of bearings on a road bike, let alone something that gets dragged through the dirt, mud & water every weekend!

Hey Josh,,, really like watching ur vlogs after my mate who was trying to start a tour business over here in Thailand mentioned you. I buy scooters from the auctions and fix them up and I've done heaps of wheel bearings and seals. I'm not an expert but those larger seals would still have fitted and as long as not to much wider they hold the spacers in better. I discovered this when changing the bearings on a MSX ( Grom) And strictly speaking the bearings already have seals so really the seals are an extra anyway. But I still used the bearings with seals on my Berg when I lived it Tassie

My GT 723 rear is still going well , only done about 3000 kms so far ( due to Vic look downs and my brain 🧠 injury just been back riding for about one ☝️ months. The XT 660 has a similar issue with rear wheel bearing and the Cush rubbers as well. The fix is put cut tyre tube in between the Cush rubbers ( to make it firm ) or put XT 600 Cush rubbers in I have been told , last longer . Another trick is to put a wider bearing to to take more of the load .

man i know what you are saying, bend over and say bye too the cash..... my dr 3350 ten years ago cost that much for rear seals and bearings from suzuki. my new 2019 dr 650 ive put about 4000$ in it, since i replaced the africa twin from the deer accident. no bearings but lots of goodies, acerbis 6.6, warp 9 covers, rox risers, fasst flex moto 15 degree bend handlebars, supertrapp ids2 muff, fmf powerbomb header, every sprocket you can get for it, guards for frame, trail teck fan, countless tires, and so on. but on a lighter note i think it would be a three emmsy job at least. god bless you and nat, josh. g day
