Beautiful tour in the southern Anaga Mountains of Tenerife to the old El Semáforo maritime station.
The station was built between 1870 and 1880 and was in operation as a communication facility for shipping traffic until the 1970s.
The path to the ruins is carved into the rock, it is wide but uneven in places due to the rock, so a little caution is advised. You cover a lot of altitude relatively quickly here, as the path climbs steadily before descending again shortly before the ruins. At the upper fork, you can then continue to the La Atalaya lookout mountain - with great coastal views, but the path here is much more challenging, narrower, steeper, partly overgrown and with high rock steps, you may have to use your hands occasionally.
Start: Igueste de San Andrés, accessible by bus or car (parking at the end of the village or directly at the entrance to the village)
Distance: 7.2 km (without La Atalaya 5 km)
Altitude: 570 m (without La Atalaya approx. 400 m)
Duration: 2.5 - 3 hours
