I wouldn't call them silly rituals necessarily. At the beginning when they're learning how to play maybe they purposely did these things to get into some sort of rythm & eventually it just becomes muscle memory. Still, it's always pretty interesting for me to see these players do them as long as they're not comically slow/long in their routines.

Its less about having a silly ritual and more about being deliberate, intentional and repeative with your serve motion. So you end up doing the exact same thing to be consistent, then it becomes automatic. Some people just end up on weirder things they do.

Roger's serve, like his whole game is a thing of beauty. Not the biggest, but certainly one of the most consistent and accurate deliveries.

@@dorothysmith3205 no they don't . commentary on the TV channels every match time it and show that Nadal gets extra leeway EVERY MATCH from the umpire. He could be called out on so many points for exceeding the time but is not. It's you who is talking out their pooper. Nadal slows down every match both when serving AND receiving beyond the allowed time frequently. Serving is supposed to be at the speed of the server but Nadal is always making the server wait also. Rubbish to watch for the viewer to see his disgusting butt-picking, crotch-picking and face-rubbing routine on every point also.
