Totally different sport trajectories and organizational structures, beginning with Team Sport vs Individual Sport. But Tennis' biggest problem is that it's not a very telegenic sport. Honestly, if the major networks used the lower camera angles it would give viewers a vastly greater appreciation for the physical demands of the sport. That being said, Tennis' rather disorganized and polarized structure- Major Tournaments are their own entities, the ITF/ATP/WTA don't have resources or willpower it seems to promote the sport and help the athletes who literally are the tour, and a thousand smaller but still consequential issues-- make it very difficult to compare with or emulate the NBA. The PGA tour might be a better comparison.
