Sandra Sherman, you're simply an outstanding guitar instructor. Period. Starting with your ever so pleasant personality and the way you structure your lessons in breaking down a given song, well, again --- simply outstanding. Even though I'm an optimist, there are some songs I don't think I'll be able to grasp, but then you come along and make it perfectly clear and painless to learn. I appreciate it and love it! Thanks for all you do Sandra!!
Nice licks, great lesson. You're very helpful, always taking me one step beyond in this weird thing we call "playing guitar". And those licks in the part of the melody were really great, paying attention to the chord we're working on. Thanks to you and to every good teacher in youtube, i don't need no berklee college. Cheers
I mean we can't thank you enough!!! You have the easiest to follow and best guitar teacher, it's so clear and you show everything for free, it's incredible, greetings from (not so sunny) Finland!
in my opinion, you are by far the best guitar teacher on youtube. please keep doing what you're doing, you're amazing! best greetings from lower saxony
Hi Sandra - herzlichen Dank for this video, I was struggling with the second phrase of the head, and your clear explanation really helped me to both visualise and hear it! I owe you one :)
Thanks Sandra, I am totally in agreement with the first comment. Couldn't be a better lesson to mark the beginning of my being" fully subscribed". A great version of a great track, expertly explained with a relaxed friendly vibe. Excellent!
"I hammer to the seventh!" sounds like a cool catchphrase, almost worth a t-shirt! I'm loving your lessons, I'm catching up on my theory and I'm having a lot of "oh, so that's what it means!" moments! I'm really not into jazz, I'm just starting to learn but I'm progressing fast because you are a wonderful teacher: knowledgeable, clear, passionate and fun! Cheers from Italy!
Hi Heather, welcome to the channel! If you're a jazz rookie I'd recommend to start with my tutorials on chords. Search for these videos and add GUITARVERSUM to the search term here in YT. 1) Basic Jazz 7th chords 2) Tension Chords 3) All my Dorian lessons 4) How to play better jazz solos 5) Jazz Blues in Bb 6) Jazz Blues in F That should keep you busy for a while 😊 Enjoy, Sandra
Guitarversum Sandra Sherman Thanks - it's helpful to have that list. I found you because I searched for St James Infirmary which is one of the songs the band is learning. The videos will be a challenge for me - but that's good. I had got so bored with my guitar playing because I reached a mediocre plateau & never improved for years! I stopped playing and I even sold my beloved Taylor acoustic so now I'm looking for a replacement guitar. I'm borrowing a friend's Les Paul copy at present.
@@heathersheldrick3833 Back then I went to the conservatory for the same reason. I was bored with playing pentatonic scales and Pop music. These days I play pop again, but studyibg jazz guitar really widened my horizon. When I found out that there was so much more to learn, I was really hyped... Still am actually.
Sandra, thank you so much for this great lesson. You have taken a very cool tune and come up with a creative and fun bluesy/jazzy solo. I really appreciate your patience in teaching the details of the solo. You clearly put a lot of work into your lessons and do it in a very pleasant way that really makes me want to learn.
Another of your superb lessons! This is my favorite so far. I love the blues/bebop mix. This is just the right level for me....with about 90 minutes of work (maybe less?), I'll have a really tasty tune to add to my reportoire. Thank you for sharing.
not an easy thing for speed, but surprisingly I learned it in 2 hours, And at an average pace, a solo is played. Thank you! There are more things like that, along with solo!still please sort the Beatles in my life
Oh my...like a fine Viennese pastry; sumptuous, heady, unbelievably tasty playing. (I’ve never actually had a fine Viennese pastry, but that’s how I imagine them). Just knowing Sandra is ten points on the hipness meter. Thank you for this gem.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman Sandra, you re so adorable! Its impossible not to like you!❤ hello from Austin Texas!❤ live music capital of the world. Hope you can come visit and perform at SXSW sometime.
Hier kann also normalerweise kein Missverständnis entstehen.
Please bear in mind, that I have to concentrate on so many things during shooting. I would usually improvise, while here I have to take care to play each and every single note as I wrote it down for the Tabs and the explanation. Also I always have an eye on the camera, if the angle is good etc. That's nt a CD recording, but a tutorial. Different goals here for me.
I listened to that. There's plenty of strange notes in there. The timing is equaly as strange. But the general sound is nice. It seeems like some of those notes were deliberatly outside, bc you tried to establish a motif there. Just a suggestion, try to resolve the outside notes WITHIN the motif. Else a person who's not an experienced teacher doesn't hear your intentions, but just plain wrong notes. Keep groovin', Peace, Sandra
