@@milkb4cereal916 lol what? This a dancehall clash song. “Another sound(sound boy/dj) is dying” is literally context that it’s a dancehall sound used to clash also
So sad 😞 But they are killed in either Jamaica or abroad. Think Peter Tosh, General Echo, Jacob Miller, Ranking Toyan, Panhead, Carlton Barrett, as just a few gunned down at home then Tenor Saw, Nitty Gritty, Early B as a few killed abroad
I never get tired of this video. I can watch it over and over. I like how he went in the gettho included the youths, and every body going about their normal everyday life. It's so authentic. I love to see the youth man dem skanting up.
Who remembers the first time they heard this gem. It picks you up and drops you into the heart of Jamaica while dumplings stew in a pot, playing a game of dominoes and drinking a red stripe. excellent sound.
I wish I had the back drop of what you guys were describing. Mine was at my mums house in Stepney Green and my cousin brought it round and played it . He smashed it . Great memories ONE LOVE & KEEP SAFE
Love, Honor and Respect to Tenor Saw one of the best voices ever came out of Jamaica. Really wish you were still here to give us some more great music singing the real Reggae and Dancehall in real time.
I worked as a teacher in JA from summer 85 to 86 (Tichfield HS with Principal Chin :) This song, along with Buddy Bye, Under me sensi and Sleng Teng and a number of others, and I learned to wind and rub a dub at the dance halls (mi a champion bubbler :). Thank you, Mr Saw; that year was paradise...
This tune reminds me of my youth in NYC.NYC was apocalyptic in the 80's you had the crack epidemic, killings were way up,the subway was a waste land full of graffiti. The most beautiful thing of that time was this gem of a tune that would fit perfectly in the NYC of that era.I remember blasting this tune on my mini boom box on 5 train from brooklyn to the bronx.Use to visit my familia in Morris Park in the Bronx from Flatbush Brooklyn blasting this gem.
Same here growing up in Boston for me. Or really anywhere on the East Coast in the 80's. Boston was becoming the wild west as well at that time. Used jam this when we went and bought beef patties at this spot on Geneva Ave in Boston. Good memories.💯
If you live in Jamaica, then the best send-off you can have is hearing this at a SETUP. Went to one last year, man, I tell you...All night till funeral time people did not stop! This is the way to celebrate fi real!!!
tenor saw and king kong brothers in music. god bless that tiny island of JA. pumping out artist one after the other. so many legend come out of the hills and the ghetto. i don't think any place on earth has produced so much talent
This takes me back to my youth in the 1980s and 1990s in Toronto! Jammed enough times to this in high school and university. Those were legendary times.
He was murdered for his publishing and his unique style by people close to him. When you really find out how he died everything about it is very suspicious and fishy... nevertheless rest in privilege, prestige, power, praise and peace, at ease hold the faith hold the grace...
Oh man, I remember from I was 7 my daddy use to play this in the car all the time. I'd be singing this and not have a clue what I'm singing about. This brings back good memories for reaal!
