I used the tent stove a couple of times this winter, and ran into a few issues. I fixed the following:
1. Blunt the stove legs more so they don't cut into the firemat
2. Add turnbuckles to the bottom stove-pipe to help hold things tight in high winds.
3. Rebuild the top of the bottom stove pipe to better receive the rest of the pipe
4. Fix the broken damper
5. Create clips for the very top of the stove pipe that allow me to anchor the stove pipe with ropes (again to help with windy conditions).
6. Finally, I added secondary air to the back of the stove to help improve burns at the very back of the stove where oxygen was scarce.

Your Testing and Evaluation process threw up some points to address and you went through each one in an exemplary manner! Those stovepipe securing fittings were real masterpieces of efficiency, likewise your rear air intake housing, which was beautifully constructed and installed! Your on the spot steel bending jig for your stovepipe band was simply outstanding! You have produced a wonderful tutorial on your gorgeous stove and its upgrades and improvements which is a treasure trove of inspirational how to! Thank you for sharing your skills and ideas.

The Damper, Turnbuckle, and Caps are Brilliant. I have a few more: Folding Handle on one end and Metal Wheels on Opposite End to roll it, Stamp Sections of Pipe with 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, I have a pice of 1/2 Wide Aluminum Length of Stove with 2" 90 Bent on End as Fire Poker. Set of Welding gloves kept inside for Hot Work, Firestarters using Egg Carton Filled with Sawdust and Old Candles Poured Over with Match in Center. Fiberglass Gasket on Door. Spring Pins on top of Legs so it can be Lifted without Legs falling out. You could build the Side water heater easily based on your skills, or they sell for $100.

Those are some good ideas. I like the wheels/handle idea as this sucker is heavy. I do have a water tank that I purchased. If you look carefully you can see the mounting brackets for them on either side just under the top lid/cover.

I have a 2020 clean stove in my home and the secondary air is quite small and doesn’t adjust or close up. Works great. Also, as a clean stove the top air can’t be fully closed which really helps to avoid everything getting sooted up. I rarely use the bottom air unless I’m starting the stove up. BTW, I like that CNC plasma cutter. Seems to work great.

Thank you. I have made a few projects over the last few months, but was burned out trying to record them. I am starting to feel the itch again though, so hopefully it will increase.

I will have to record it next time I use it (probably not until next fall)

Neat stuff. Im thinking of ordering one today. Some thoughts on your vid. Instead of welding nuts to the top surface i would have run the cables with turnbuckles to the edges of the cook top. The leverage would have been better. Interesting note about unburned wood in the rear of the stove. I think i would have drilled two small "poke" holes where i could insert a push rod tool and poke the logs forward into the burn area. Perhaps those would serve as rear vents. But if i had a machine shop like yours i would have done what you did. :) great work!

Think the foot pads you put on your portable band saw would have taken care of the legs puncturing your tent pads, just Saying. Great build though spent the morning drinking my coffee and having my morning Stogie while watching all your stove build videos instead of cleaning out my Garage!

So nice to see a new one. Is there any particular reason why you just don’t put the stove on a flat surface with legs on get the correct angle for the bottom of the legs, cut, cap and finish and then you’d have all the Extra surface area so it wouldn’t hurt silicone pad?

We are camping out in the dirt... and the ground is uneven. I have to unscrew the legs a little bit some times to help level it. I am not guaranteed to have the legs in the same distance all the time; therefore, any angle cut into the legs is not likely to line up the way I want it to. That is my theory at least.

@@JohnHarmon what about a "wobbly" type end on the leg? Like the leg on school desks and chairs.
