Everytime I come to the Butte, I camp in the patch of woods where Teocali ends and you make a left on the road and follow for a quarter mile or so. It’s a great campsite during crowded weekends.
I’m not good with the actual names/numbers, but it’s after the downhill ending of Teocalli Trail, go left a quarter mile and there’s patches of Aspens with big open views of the valley. You will have to cross Brush Creek if your driving a truck etc. I did it in a stock 2002 F250 with no lift and did fine. I think it might be too rough with a trailer attached like If your pulling Bikes or a camper. I met some people who parked their vehicles at the major dispersed camping area before the Brush Creek Crossing, then they rode their dirt bikes with camping gear up to the site below me. Hope that’s not too confusing and if some help. The main reason we lleft the major dispersed area with a porta John is some people pulled a giant RV next to me at 11:30PM, they boiled crab legs, threw shells everywhere and after retreating into their RV, multiple bears were roaming around and sniffing my tent on their way to the crab leg shells. I was on the ground in a tent with my fiancé and two elderly dogs. No giant RV’s can make it across Brush Creek. I’ve camped in Gunnison National Forest in summers off and on from late 90’s and never had any bad experiences with wildlife, but boiling crab legs is something I wouldn’t suggest, despite sounding totally yummy. Hope your trip goes well.
That is a way Kool trail had no idea I was so close I'm like twenty min away live in Gunnison love your videos so excited to ride can't wait till snow clears
Planning a trip to Taylor Park/CB in a couple weeks. Seems like a lot of sites call it a mtn bike trail, but would love to ride this if open to dirt bikes. How long is the loop from the Jeep road? Thx!
Did you guys poach this trail or was it signed Open? I ask because my buddies and I rode it in 2011 and a Ranger fell in behind us on his dirt bike with signs to close the trail. I had not seen any info on it being reopened until this video. Fantastic if it is, as I’ll pass it on to my friends.
We rode it in 2014. Evidently, it had just reopened after being shut down for repairs. It's was my understanding it had been shut down for a couple of years ? I believe it's a one- trail ? Great video brought back some great memories. 👍
Larson Bergquist thanks man! Such a scenic and fun trail! Attached below is the trail info. At the bottom of the link there is a GPX attached. Happy riding buddy! 😄👊🏼✊🏼 travelcrestedbutte.com/crested-butte-mountain-biking-teocalli-trail/
