Theres teaching them what it is, how it works etc. With diagrams and explainations, and then theres showing a close up video of it in class. That's just a recipe for bullying girls on their periods and grossing the kids out and making girls feel ashamed about completely normal biology. It kinda does the complete opposite of what is the intention, instead it causes exactly what were trying to avoid.

Can't tell if this is serious or not, but yea I agree. I think this applies to most things - drugs, morals in general etc. Sadly a lot of parents fail in these things, and schools are sometimes blamed for those parents' shortcomings.

Parents aren't reliable in teaching sex ed. Some might do it too late, not give enough information or give wrong information. Including sexual health as part of the national curriculum ensures there are fewer gaps.

84% of the world adheres to religion. 25% of the USA believes in astrology. 50% of the USA believes in demons and ghosts. 50% of parents in the USA believe sex education SHOULDN'T be taught to young ages in schools. (Sorry for using USA as reference, their stats are easier to find everywhere) Parents should have influence on what sex education their kids get besides their own teachings (as is their responsibility), but overall people make decisions for the wrong reasons - and we can't just let that be. Not starting sex education from a young age leads to a higher chance children are victims of SA. SexED has to be highly regulated and incorporated into school curriculums, there has to adaptations considering levels, ages, gender and sexuality, they need to consider sex is a practice that WILL happen (in some countries sooner than others). As a teacher, I wouldn't feel comfortable if the educational system I worked in allowed - for example - conservative catholic parents to effectively censor correct, effective, ethically appropriate and useful information from reaching their kids (my students). It would interfere with my work, the school's mission and education as a whole.
