Sony Classical continues its major Mozart opera project with conductor Teodor Currentzis and his orchestra & choir musicAeterna: A ‘no-compromise’ studio recording cycle of Mozart’s three Da Ponte operas. Living in a unique artistic community established on the edge of Siberia, the musicians worked and recorded under ideal conditions.
Teodor Currentzis says: ‘I think it is a tremendously powerful work because, if Figaro is an opera about revolution in society and art, Così is about revolution in the sphere of love, Currentzis states. In Così he used a grotesque libretto as his vehicle. But are we supposed to believe that Mozart, who understood life so deeply, somehow overlooked the outrageousness of the story? The awesome genius who singlehandedly re-invented opera, to make it capture all of life’s flawed, heartbreaking beauty with such power, such truth, such wisdom? I say Così is exactly how he wanted it. It’s all done on purpose, every single word of it.
Così is really Mozart’s best ensemble opera musically; in parts it’s much more serious than even the music of Don Giovanni. Mozart wanted the clownerie of this libretto - and then set to it his best music, the music of angels. It’s that contradiction which lifts you out of your morality, returns you to the instinctive feelings of your youthful naïveté, to those beautiful, playful feelings of your first love. You understand who you are again.’

Bravo Maestro! All your interpretations deserve long life. I can't see any conductor in nearest future who will be able to deliver another version of everything you conducting with the fresher, more innovative and more HUMAN interpretation. Yours is in line with the current world . Sad, some people can't appreciate the depth your soul, wisdom of your brain and sincerity of your passion to music. Please ignore those - they are definitely in minority and don't deserve to be noticed... For the rest of the world TEODOR CURRENTZIS is UNIQUE and the MOST ADORABLE CONDUCTOR OF THIS UNIVERSE !!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart ! you are bringing Mozart's music to life... period. I heard Cosi Fan Tutte twice last year and came to love this music so much. Hearing your interpretation, i am discovering with amazement a new approach to listening music. For instance, the trio ''soave sia il vento'' which is one one my favorite sounds completely anew. The balance achieved between the three voices and the orchestra brings some magic that is still haunting me. Your art is to music what independant cinema is to the seventh art. Both are a nourishment for the heart and the soul and a reason to enjoy life truly.

Теодор, в таком сверхтемпе это комикс, но сейчас, похоже это мода. Услышьте, иначе это бормашина, чем Моцарт провинился перед соврем. суетой, может в зале это воспринимается по другому, но в записи это бормотание. Извините.

Lohengrin O Probably not in composing, but maybe in conducting he might be better. Sometimes the creator doesn't know the full potential of their creation.

***** how can you be so sure of Mozart's intentions... Callas had said: who can be sure how Bellini or Verdi wanted their masterpieces to be performed

***** the period baroque interpretations of Bach are ridiculous.. they are supposed to be authentic in terms of the style of the epoch yet present a Bach so devoid of any meaning.. it is a matter of enormous difficulty

Cosi is the least dramatic that Mozart wrote but the music is so sublime it defies definition it doesn't matter what you see but the sounds lifts you into another world- this singing lacks for nothing.
