Miralo todo aqui en la radio de los cubanos.. www.musicuban.com/ The 1976 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXI Olympiad - Teofilo Stevenson vs John Tate KNOCK OUT
Teofilo's job, profession from 1966 until his retirement in 1986, was a boxer. For more than two decades he trained in Cuba more and harder than the comparatively lazy Ali, Frazier etc. (they were often fat and overweight...) His saying: Foreman is a professional, I am an amateur, is the typical Cuban humor. 🙂 Or what profession did he have from the age of 14 until he ended his career? The same applies at least to countries like Russia, China and North Korea.
Tate was highly over rated by the boxing world. His arrogance in the famous fight with Mike Weaver, where he mocked and ridiculed Weaver the whole fight, only to be KO'ed with 45 second left in the 15th round, was indicative a man of little character. He deserved what he got from Stevenson.
What big George was saying,” the Stevenson wouldn’t beat the big 5 in a row. But could win and lose the title similar to Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton did. Stevenson would need to have gained some weight as the premier boxers would have avoided that devastating right by grappling and leaning
George was right I think, Teo wasn't hungry for the pro money. He had a good life in Cuba, a national hero. Why go 15 rounds with Ali, Forman, Norton, Holmes etc. when he can fight 3 rounds with amateurs and have his share of glory?
@@cougarcandy921 Yeah but all of Ali, Frazier and Foreman were like that once. Who is to say given to chance to improve in ability and stamina as a professional he would not have been a world champion. Hell man John Tate became world champion.
Not careless , Stevenson had an exceptional IQ. The trainer said don't make the fight, Cuban's are exceptional counterpunchers even Boxer-Puncher's like Stevenson. Tate was closing the distance, and Stevenson lulled him and then used a defensive jab, and unleashed the overhand.
