Nice tie Phillip! I stumbled into your videos about a month ago looking for a booby fly tying pattern for still water fishing. Your still water patterns are awsome! I have also purchased some of your flies & your book, Fly Patterns for Stillwaters. The information on trout entomology and Stillwater fly design / tying is a valuable resource to the Stillwater fisherman. The floating dragons / booby's / Batman fly on a short leader with a full sink line is deadly on panfish, bass & trout! Keep the videos & books coming! You need to do a Dragon's & Damsels Fly Patterns for Stillwaters book! Seriously! Tight lines! Cheers!

As a UK angler I can attest to the effectiveness of this fly. It also works with slow sinking and intermediate lines and to support a team of small nymph or midge patterns. Either as a point fly or on the top dropper. On the point when using a floating, sink tip, or intermediate line. Cast it out. Any take on the nymph will cause the the boobie to move forwards faster or to the side. So if during a pause the boobie twitches or moves? tighten into it. I ordered hollow punches in sizes 5/32 (4mm), 3/16 (5mm) and 7/32 (6mm) made my own "Boobie" eyes using the foam can holders.I found at Michaels. The holder cost me $5, way cheaper then paying $1/Rainy eye. Barry Radelet

Hey Phillip, I love the booby, I have learned to make my own out of foam cylinders and a dremmell tool. I also have used adhesive flat foam and stuck it together cut out the cylinder with an old sharpened antenna on a drill. Works marvelously. Rainey's it great but a bit expensive for me. I have to work a little harder to save a penny. All those pennies add up. Thanks for all the tips. Because of a handicap I have a boat and fish still water just so I don't have to concentrate on fishing and anchoring in a rushing river. All the best, Thanks for sharing your expertise.
