I know they are being facetious to sell there product, but it sure it sure was convenient how he choose all the peaks to cross with the stock Jeeps and then the valleys with the modded ones.
Good video and nice mods to both those Jeeps, the lightbar on the 2-door is great. That said, I see so many people spending a fortune modifying their Jeeps only to drive them around city streets, spotless, never touching a trail. I probably do more off-roading with my stock JK than most (with those tiny stock tires, too!). I'll upgrade as necessary...not to show-off, but for practicality.
Why is it that the tire was still in the air after the Teraflex modifications in both JK's at 6:04 and 6:48 ? What needs else needs to be modified in both Jeeps for the tires to stay on the ground?
Stopping on a hill is no problem for the 2012. It has hillside assist. It holds the vehicle in position for about 3 seconds while you take your foot off the brake and put it on the gas. I discovered it by happenstance one day when I changed my mind about crossing a low spot in a ditch and tried to back out. It's a very nice feature.
The blue JK has a TeraFlex 6" Long Arm kit with Fox shocks and TeraFlex SpeedBumps installed. While the 2dr is has the TeraFlex PreRunner Suspension System installed.
i know it's a video to sell ur product but u can at least go up the same path every time on the hill climb...the 1st time the jku went up a different path than the jk and then both up a different path again once the mods were done
JK sport with 32's would probably not have bottomed out and with your quick disconects it probably would have made it further than the 4door even without lockers because its a manual transmission, you control the clutch and brake independently so lockers are less necessary.
I can't wait to get my 2013 rubicon. So many different routes to go with it. Wanting to put 35's on it, it also being a daily driver, I live in Florida so it'll also be in the mud. Which would be the best setup for me?
I have a 2011 2 door Rubicon, soon to be traded in for a 2013 Rubicon. I live in Vancouver Canada, but really want to come work for you guys and learn. :)
funny, I used to semi agree with you... until I got my '12 Rubi. I'm currently in Germay and I try to minimize my impact to the ground as much as possible and don't like throwing earth or creating bigger obstacles if I don't have to. I have been in a few situations where 4low and "bld" was not enough for my kind of driving. the lockers worked great. no need for winch, no greater impact to soil. I'll never go back to no lockers in a rig. (thumbs up if you agree)
I am in the dilemma of buying a Rubicon or sport. do you think a sport with 2.5" lift and 33 tyres will be as capable as stock Rubicon? I am asking this because I have a limited budget for now and if I buy the Rubicon I won't be able to do any modification on it for a while but if I buy the sport I have the rest of the cash in hand to spend on lift and tyres. what Is your advise? Thanks
the obstacles they tried to drive over without the lift would have been possible for the Rubicon if the driver was experienced. but im assuming they are just trying to make a point about their suspension
I've taken my totally stock 2 door sport up similar inclines with no problem at all. All this video shows people is that if you have no driving skill but plenty of money, you can drive a Jeep JK over just about anything.
AWESOME vid as usual!! I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY to say we're now a TERAFLEX dealer and can't wait to start selling/rigging up Jeeps in our area down here in TEXAS!!
Hey Teraflex, I purchased my 2009 Wrangler Sahara JK. I am wanting to run some bigger tires on her. I am wanting to run 35", I am also debating between a 2.5" to 3" lift. I guess my question is, will 35" tires work on the Jeep without regearing? If not, what is the largest tire size that will work? Thank you.
The Rubicon is definitely more capable than a Sport in stock format with it's lockers/4:1. Go with the Sport, that will give you more spending cash for upgrades.
That stock JK on 29" tires did not have to high center that hill climb, especially since it was done deliberately. They took the Rubicon on the smooth side. The sport only looked jerky because he was wonky on the manual trans. That bare bones stock sport can pass all of those tests! Of course, he works for terraflex.
guys waste too much money on mall crawlers. 3" lift with 33s locked front and rear will get you through about anything. but you must have some driving ability
the BLD* system works by applying the brakes to the wheel that slips, to help minimize the impact on the ground, people don't realize that and flick mud and shit everywhere and get stuck rather than easing onto the power. i want to get a rubi but the price scares me away.
Does anyone else notice that bright shiny intercooler behind the grill? The stock motor would have a lot more strain on it pushing 38's without that $5000+ supercharger upgrade.
for the 2 doors he says "wheels in the air, not good" at first... but after installing the lift kit the wheels are also in the air yet passes the test lol
Julien Prégent The put lockers in it with the lift so it didn't matter if they had wheels in the air. Also the tires didn't leave the ground until much later with the mods on.
+Julien Prégent Also what about the whole Brake Lock Differential system? Even if a tire is in the air, the BLD system will still provide power to the other wheel. Sure it's not as good as lockers, but that doesn't mean it's absolute shit.
I could have got through the suspension section in the stock JK Rubicon, and the stock 2 door. I don;t care what suspension you have, it's all about picking your lines.
Jason saddler And they are not worth the money seeing as how my Altitude Edition Sahara is much better than a Rubi for about $5,000 less after I installed lockers and manual SB disconnects.
+Jason saddler The 4:10's are no longer standard gears on a Rubicon. 3.73 are standard (at least for 2015) and 4:10's are an option. I just bought a 2015, as the 2016 are hitting the dealers and it was very difficult to find one with 4"10's.
+Jason saddler We have the 2015 Rubi Hard Rock edition manual trans. With a Mopar / Fox lift ended up close to 4" after all components changed. I run 315/70/17 down the highway at 85 - 90 all day. Have clearance, lift and the power I need to climb and have a great DD.
