Love mine. Great company to deal with as well. Had a question that I emailed when they were closed over weekend and woke up Monday morning to find a reply. Very cool, helpful ppl imo. A bit like the knife ('a no bs knife') is how I'd describe their customer service. Which is exactly how I like it. If there is anyone out there sitting on the fence over this or the garberg, well I've got both and you can buy my garberg if you like. I like it better than my fallkniven S1 as well, and that cost me I can't remember how many more times as much. There isn't one thing about the S1 I prefer over this anyway.

Can’t beat it for the dollar value you get. I bought one from them with the curly birch handle, which is quite a bit more expensive, but still like half the price of many of the competition, and it’s gorgeous.

Hands down best knife for the dollar. Period. I own 2 of them. 1 i use everyday. The other sits in the closet..just in case😂 Ive bought them for gifts for friends and family. They are tough as nails, relatively easy to sharpen, i absolutely love them. Total workhorse. I cant say enough good things about this knife. Highly recommend. Edit: ugly=utilitarian

Well, I just placed the order for the 110. Your videos helped me choose between this and the 140. I wanted a great bushcrafting knife and this seems like a really good choice. I wouldn't be surprised if I get the 140 and perhaps a skrama in the future. I'm kind of a knifeaholic. Lol

Good looking knife, simple and straightforward . For a second knife to do food prep all you really need is a parring knife with a blade guard. If you are cooking anything in the woods that needs a bigger one you're doing some real luxury camping 😁

I'd love to see a comparison video with it's bigger brother like for the Skrama 200 & 240 but the difference wouldn't be as pronounced I guess. Still I was thinking of getting me one for my birthday to pair with the Skrama I already own, and your video confirmed what I expected this knife was going to be like. The sheath is way better that I thought honestly, on their website looked a lot more... plasticky? But I'm happy to see that it looks better on live camera. Great company, great product. Great review, to the point as always. Have a good one.

👍👍👍. I've got the 140. You're 100% correct. A good workmanlike tool that doesn't have to be 'molly-coddled' and does the job expected of it within it's design intent.

I was going to get one of these. Then Amazon had the Garberg with the multi mount sheath for $55. In my thinking 14c28n is very stainless. So I got the mora because it’s just about maintenance free. The other big seller for me was the mount system and I really like the sheath can be used for left or right hand. Being left handed that is a big deal. It was also why I was looking at this knife because they offer sheath for right or left. That is something many knife makers don’t care about. Many knives I’ve decided against because I don’t wanna buy another sheath. That’s why I don’t have any Becker knives I don’t believe you should have to buy everything to make your knife useful. Great video

I can appreciate the issue with right-hand only sheaths. I will be comparing this knife against the Garberg at some point. Thanks for commenting

I'm new to this hobby but my only observation about this sheath is that the knife seems to be inserted too far to secure it, requiring a grip adjustment when pulling it out to get full purchase on the handle. Probably not a concern when bushcrafting but I can see dropping this knife when relying on muscle memory and adjusting the grip.
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft 5 месяцев назад
Interesting observations. Creating the best balance between knife security and accessibility can be a challenge for sheath makers. The Terava knives definitely lean towards security. For me, I prefer a sheath be secure enough to prevent knife loss under conditions like a fall or heavy bushwacking. I am okay with the extra bit of effort taking the knife out. I would prefer being able to access the knife one handed but not at the expense of security. In the end, the knife user decides what they like best. Thanks for commenting

Great review as always! I have owned the 110 for few years now but it has hardly been used at all. It is an extremely solid knife and it is probably indestructible but since i ordered it at the same time as the mini skramas (one with rubber handle and two blanks which now have nice olive wood handles) it never got much of a chance as the mini skramas outshone it in almost every way and became the knives i use 90% of the time, for work and privately both. I find the jaakaripukko's blade geometry unsuitable for most food prep and too obtuse for carving. Mini skramas does way better in that regard, but certainly doesn't have as rugged of an edge. Jaakaripukko's sheath is way better than that of mini skrama or mini Jääkäri without the dangler though.
@MarkYoungBushcraft

I am waiting on a mini Skrama for testing. I agree the 110 is a wood processing tool. Too heavy duty for finer tasks or food prep. Thanks for commenting

Oh hey Mark, have you seen the natural stone sharpening stone these guys sell? I find it’s actually pretty awesome. Sharpens pretty fast, and gives a good sharp edge. I don’t know how long lasting it’ll be, but I like it enough that after trying the medium size, I ordered the small to take on trips. It also has some interesting edge angles for sharpening things other than knives.

Here’s my question, cause I’m designing my own knife. *HOW DOES THE HANDLE FEEL?* It looks like it’s absolutely perfect. Any hotspots or pinch points to be noted?
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft Год назад
I agree, the handle can make a or break a knife. I struggle with most production knives as I have XL to XXL hands. What is interesting about this knife is that because the grip is taller (palm swell to back strap) and because of the length, and because of the texture of the rubber, it fits my hand well and still works of someone with a smaller hand. If the grip were not as tall, I would want it wider to fill my palm. So, yes IT FEELS GOOD...Thanks for commenting
@canadafree2087
@canadafree2087 2 года назад
With the hand comment, I wonder what you think of Mora Companion HD vs standard Companion. I have both and felt the handle was a bit too large towards one end on the HD version. Might be different for you.

Have you ever had a bad apple with a Terävä? I was told that one out of five comes with real bad heat treatment, and that the grind is poor and uneven. But tbh, i didn't make this experience, i have both the skrama 240 as the puukko 110, and both perform flawless. I thought you have, by now, more knowledge of this knives than me...
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft Год назад
Wow. I had not heard that before. I would love to know of the source. I now have six Terava knives (review of three still to come) and all are in "perfect" condition. I gave quotes to that as they all are somewhat subject to slight differences in colouration as a result of the forging and heat treat but as far as fit, finish and function, they are spot on. Please, if you know something I don't, pleas share. Thanks for commenting

Great bushcrafting knife Mark but sadly owing to a recent change in our law which now requires all knives being delivered by post to be hand delivered to an adult, Varusteleka will no longer dispatch knives to the UK. Big loss to the UK bushcrafting community.

Just had one delivered to northern England and all I had to do was sign one of those 'looks nothing like your signature' digital things with UPS. And no problems. The only difficulty you'll find is having one delivered to like a storage box etc. But they do definitely 'now' deliver to the UK.

@@Darrenski Yeah I got an update on this a while back and have since had a Skrama delivered to the UK. However they are still a bit hit and miss and still say some of their knife stock is not available for delivery to the UK all folding knives and a fixed blade Glock field knife for example).
