He didn't really like the industry,and the control, he us very much free spirited person. He owns all the right to his music, one of the very few artists of his time and age. He is a very clever individual indeed. He is happy living his life with his wife and sons. Bless him

Terence is still making music just under the name of *Sananda Maitreya* now, which he adopted as his stage and legal name in the early 2000's. Although his super commercial career only lasted from 87-95 he still saw success with his future releases. He has a very loyal fanbase and his projects although don't perform on the charts they do perform well within the fan community.

I saw him in Cambridge, UK, a couple of days before this performance. I wasn't expecting anything more than a washed up pop star performing some of his tunes, how wrong could I have been? I was absolutely blown away by his humility and his power. He is one of the true greats, who chose to walk his own path.

The guitarist was Louis Matoyer I think, I coud be wrong but either way he's a great guitarist.

He pissed off Michael Jackson. A lot of his team in the US also had Jackson as a client and MJ was literally a bank at the time. Mike basically put out an edict that if you want to print money I have to be your only client and the blackball rolled. He later went on Arsenio Halls show and doubled down saying that it is a coincidence that the two biggest black male stars HAVE TO BE Androgynous ( MJ and Prince). He said Prince had to pretend to be Gay and Michael had to pretend to be celibate.

@TreyMessiah95 We were so blinded by the talent of MJ and Prince that we never asked ourselves "why them"?. It's the same with Hip Hop, instead of KRS One explanation the descendents of Shem we were flooded with lyrics talking about shooting your daughter in the calf muscle ect. Terence had to learn first hand that Michael was going to exercise power not just allow a direct competitor to talk greazy.

@@creditorclass6513 Yeah also most men during that time wore kinda Fem YOu look at Rick James even, Michael and PRince and im sure there wore others. Teddy pendergrass forexample iMO was a better singer than michael but he was masculine so he never really went far, same with Berry white although he had alot of honors he wasnt as celebrated compared to michael and prince

Terrence Trent D'Arby's talent was every bit the equal to Michael Jackson and Prince. He did NOT have a Michael Jackson voice. Michael Jackson famously sent his producers to steal and plagiarize Terrence's music. Terrence's undoing was his entitlement, infamously and fatally comparing himself to the Beetles. Terrence needed to seal himself inside a music studio and write brilliant, unforgettable music. Sadly, after Wishing Well, this didn't happen.

This dude been lucky with 1st album debut 35 years ago then arrogant attitude mess his own career, he was just lucky . The video those guys see was from 1995 and was not bad album but After great debut. Start to flop after flop then disappear and now back from 80s at 61 years old with ugly new name and sang very boring music . This dude was very paranoid and blame company records and others artists for his failure but he was only himself to blame .
