These are the top of channels we need support. No drama. Basically family friendly. Relaxing. Kids can learn so much from watching these like this dirt perfect CNC equipment etc. operators/mechanics. With so much common sense.
I haven’t rebuilt a Beam 60 in years, most manufacturers went to IMCO it’s a simpler system. But I used to keep a rebuild kit for those in my truck. You did good figuring it out, and yes that was the oil left behind from propane in the regulator. I’ve seen a lot worse residue in them and still run, it was actually pretty clean. We used to set pressure regulators with a gauge measured in water columns. If I remember right it should be set at 1.5 to 2 water columns. Pro tip: Never use Teflon tape on propane fittings! The tape can unwind (threads cut the tape and it strings out) and gets caught up in and can clog the system, use liquid tape
Just a little FYI. Everyone in my area is in some way farm related. My cousin has a larger sized Kubota tractor. He related an issue to me wherein at some point in time the injector pump supply line was sealed with Teflon. The tractor started giving him problems and got to the point it would not run. He got a new injector pump from the dealer for mega $$, put it on and it ran fine. Curious, he took the old pump apart and found a tiny piece of Teflon tape. Removed it, cleaned the pump, put it back on and all was good. Fortunately, the dealer took the new one back. After that I learned about Loctite 545 thread sealant. I tried it on a stubborn hydraulic fitting on one of my John Deere tractors and it stopped leaking. That was 3 years ago. I now use it on all fluid fittings, remembering that air is a fluid also. I strongly recommend Loctite 545 instead of Teflon. Great content! New subscriber and look forward to more videos.
@@jaygraham5407 Thank You Pap, You did Very Good instilling a Work Ethic into this Seemingly Fine Young Man. This Country is Screwed without Many More Evolving into a Fraction of the Man He Has become!
New subscriber. I've enjoyed watching you and Matt working together, so I thought I would give your channel a once over. After watching this I see you two think very much alike. Excellent diagnostic skills and lots of persistance. That crane turned out well and a bath sure improved the visual. I would leave the door on, fix the latch and figure out some way to hold it open as needed. It looks like the door may be sprung.
Found you thru found you thru Diesel Creek’s channel. Definitely a fan. You guys are the best. Love the carry deck. Been looking for one for the farm for years.
Really looking forward to the remote control install! Exactly the type of equipment that’s simultaneously very simple but also needlessly complicated. I hope someone is able to get a full service manual in your hands.
Sam, that Terex was a great buy. It’s going to serve you well in so many projects. Ole Matt will have to be on the hunt for one. This was a fun watch. Thanks for sharing. Lou from Miami 👍🇺🇸
Looking forward to the video on converting this machine to remote control. It is amazing what a few days of tinkering can troubleshoot many little problems on an old machine.
Hey Sam, get some Molly based dry lubricant and spray all the the sections of the boom really well. That's what we used to lubricate the booms on telehandlers when I worked in the forklift industry. It clings to the surfaces really well, and doesn't collect dirt.
Great channel and fun to watch! Super purchase and interesting diagnosis. You Sir, are fearless! Be well, be safe and hope your Thanksgivings get only better!
I hate doing mechanical work, but I enjoy watching other people doing it especially when they are very good at it. You are one patient person, I would have been throwing tools and cussing trying to fix all of that. I see why Matt calls on you a lot for help. Keep up the good content.
Little wash like u said would help ! Really like your show! I’ve run equipment and driven truck started at seventeen. 76 still have a do keep up the great job your doing.
I had a Jeep truck with propane conversion. I could adjust it to work at idle, but choke up when I accelerated. Likewise if I had it working at sea level, it suffocated when I went up in altitude above 3,000ft. As I lived at 5,000 ft line it was a problem. U-joint blew out. My dad fixed it while I was away on a trip. He found a buyer for it and we happily parted ways! Got a Ford F150 short 4x4 and never looked back!
hello from England .. looks very straight and tidy little crane ..it would be perfect around my yard !! it will be very handy around your place also once you have one your never be without it .enjoy
I absolutely love seeing you using Cornwell Tools. I sold tools for almost 40 years. Snap-On, Mac and Cornwell. Of the 3 companies, Cornwell is by far the best. They treat their dealers much better that any of the others. A lot of respect and huge territories that allow a dealer to make some money. My son is now doing it and doing very well in Colorado. Your videos are very well done and between you and Matt, I have a lot of fun watching you do all the stuff that I'm now too old to do. I'd sure love to hang out with your both though. I'll buy the beer.
Great diagnosis and repair. The sellers will want their crane back when they see how a well it is running with some basic maintenance and a few repairs.
In case you didnt notice yet, when the outriggers are swung out, it looks like your approach and departure angles are way better for loading on a trailer.
New subscriber from watching Matt from diesel creek for over 3 years, love the mechanical methodology in working things out, finding a solution making things work, Paul UK
Nice job of troubleshooting the issues on the Terex. You had me guessing on the propane “ carb thingy” but you got it. You have one sweet piece of equipment and adding a remote would make it awesome young man, thanks for the update, enjoyed the video.
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO SAM.THE LITTLE GUYS LOVE WATCHING YOU.WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE CRANE RUNNING WITH THE REMOTE . U HAVE GREAT SKILLS AND U'R WORK ETHIC SWEEÈET😊😊😊❤
Truly enjoy watching you diagnose and repair these older pieces of iron, saving them from the scrappers torch,in the same way as Matt does on his channel. Now that you've given the Terex a steam bath, perhaps time for a Ritchie Bros rebuild (fresh coat of paint to cover the rust spots),, and it's good to go!! Nice machine, and now there's no need for an overhead trolley crane in the shop to work on your projects, especially if you can rig up a remote control system for your deck crane. Does the crab steering function work as well ?? Great video!!😎😎😎
That was a relaxing video to watch after a crap night at work. What a cool little crane. I imagine it would be handy for clearing tree branches over stuff with all that reach.
Refreshing to see the ongoing transformation of this old iron into a usable piece of machinery. Canot wait until you finish your upgrades and see it in use. I wonder if Matt @ Diesel Creek is jealous?
Great video Sam. What a Gem. You have a crane in your shop before Matt. Lol. Very vestal piece of equipment and to think you got it as not running. Definite score. Have fun. Cheers.
You've got a great buy there Sam. Its good to see how easy you make it seem to work through the problems. Don't let Matt see it because he will have that off you. Great channel Sam, keep it coming.
Oh my gosh. This machine was in horrible shape at the auction. Nothing seem to run and the outriggers didn’t seem to work. I was really worried. It seems that one complete turn of the screw driver and plugging one wire back in fixed everything. Simply amazing. Nice job!
Drove me nuts watching you work in all that crap, steam clean would have been my very first job, still good to see it come together with only minor issues to get it working properly.
Sam that’s a sweet little crane you got yourself there. Great buy! Can’t wait to see more content on it and other projects you’re encounter. You’ve now become one of my top 5 favorite channels.
That is an awesome crane. Like you say, clean up the leaks, a good greasing, and good to go. Especially with the added remote. Best wishes from Northern Canada.
I had a generator I converted to LP and the zero governor would regulate the LP by the suction of the intake. I think you called it the mixer but I only had it on a small engine. That TeRex is an Awsome machine thanks for bringing me along
i see you putting in quite a bit of effort into your videos and the quality has gone up alot. looking forward to see where you take things and glad you seem to be doing well
Nice u got it working it has 2 winches for the boom the one u got is for the boom extension and u have another hook with a multi pully block for the main hook
Well darn, now you're going to have to spin the boom all the way back again. lol Appreciate the educational aspect of this video. Learned a lot about propane systems that I didn't know and small cranes in general. Thank you.
Great that you have been able to chase down some of the major issues, and look forward to more work being done on this when you can locate a proper service manuel for this, and Please Sam don;t give up on that door, I am sure it can be properly fixed to open and close, just that if you have it out in the elements, would much rather have it with a door that works and closes and keep all the inter controls and seat dry ...Congrats on getting her running. Bet Matt is drooling, LOL..
Great video mate, keep the content coming! I even learnt a thing or two about propane fueled engines, that i hope translates to my lpg engine that needs my attention.Subscribed ✔️
The Yellow wire is broken internally as you can see all the way to the right of the picture at about 35:40 in to the video. The insulation is not broken, but the copper wires inturnal is, you can see it by the kink it have and the loose way it moves when you touch and move the yellow wire.
Lpg vehicle in the uk generally start up on petrol/gasoline first then once the temp reaches sufficient temperature the diaphragm will open and switch to propane on cutting off the gasoline. So it won't idle on propane as its not got enough temperature. You should put some time into the gasoline side first it will idle then whilst reaching temperature
