One of my favourite facts about this movie is that Robert Patrick (T1000) trained himself not to flinch or blink while firing his gun. You see it best when the terminators first face off in mall hallway, I’m so glad u guys noticed it lol not many do

“If a terminator can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too” is one of the best ending lines in a movie. Sadly, I do not think we are there yet.

Over 30 years ago and this movie still holds up today. One of the all-time greats.

I love the detail that max was barking, because the t-1000 was there. It was established in the first movie that dogs bark in the presence of terminators

When Arnie says, "it's in your nature to destroy yourselves". That line cuts deep. I never expected the movie to say such profound things about humanity, and it's coming out of a cyborg. And that whole sequence about him being the best father figure John had ever had. Really powerful.

As a small bit of trivia, Jenette Goldstein (the actress who plays John's foster mother) is the same actress who played Vasquez (the tough female Space Marine) in Aliens. She also played the Irish Mother in Titanic. A great actress who can morph into any character.

People often comment about Robert Patrick (T1000) training himself to not blink while firing the gun - which IS tremendous because it really helps the scene. But, what i find even more astounding, is that in all the sprinting scenes - chasing the dirtbike, chasing the car - his mouth isn't open. He's only breathing through his nose while running that fast and far, which is very inhuman.

My dad who hates tv and movies when on a rainy day couldn’t work on the farm I managed to convince him to watch this movie I’ve never forgotten his reaction he just looked at me and said not bad not bad at all I know for most people it’s not much but from a truck driving farmer who despised the modern world that is praise beyond measure and now that he is gone this movie means so much more

The nuke scene is considered one of the most accurate fictional portrays of a nuclear blast in film. The special effects still holds up 32 years later. It was an Oscar for best visual effects.

What I love about you guys is, you're not idiots like some reaction video hosts. You remember things that happened earlier in the movies and draw conclusions that usually end up being correct. It's fun watching you analyze movies!

Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick in this film, I was paralyzed watching that spectacular performance, I also really like this young John Connor.

We gotta give Miles Tyson some serious credit. Dude probably worked his butt off on Snynet, but as soon as he hears what it does in the future, he quickly swallows his ego and agrees to destroy what was possibly his life's work. His death is just as sad as Arnie's.

Robert Patrick played his role immaculately. He went through heavy gun training to train himself to not blink or flinch when shooting. Also, in his younger days, he was a track stat in college. They had to keep reshooting the dirt bike scene because he kept catching up to it.

Only james cameron can make you shed tears for a dying robot

You guys did a good job of noticing that Sarah is trying to stop her doom before it happens, by killing the person she thinks will be responsible in an attempt to change the future. This is exactly what Skynet is trying to do. As you noted, Sarah is a human who is becoming more and more like a Terminator. And the T-101 is a terminator who is becoming more and more human. John is able to help both step away from their paths of destruction.

I'm 45 and I was 13 going on 14 when this came out. It was SOOO cutting edge! There was NOTHING like it around! So glad you two enjoyed it so much!!🙂

if you just look at the base story and ingredients, its wild that it works as fantastic as it does.. Some austrian bodybuilder plays a killer robot send back in time to fight another killer robot to safe the leader of humanity and it all ends up to be one of the, not just sci-fi, but best movies ever. james cameron in the 80s-90s man.. dude was on another level.

Both Linda Hamilton and the guard who got killed in the hospital had identical twin siblings, who were also cast for this film, which made it far easier to film sequences where both of them were in frame. Twice for Hamilton as her sister was the one in the playground in the nightmare sequence as well as being the terminator/sarah in the final shots.

The GOAT. Arnold, Guns 'N' Roses, dusty 90's LA and the greatest scenes, phrases in film history. A roller-coaster, none stop, epic action movie. Heavy metal lightning in a bottle.

Fun fact, there were two sets of twin actors playing in this. The security guard in the mental institution played opposite his real life twin, and Linda Hamilton played opposite her real life twin Leslie in the foundry scene.

15:13 Robert Patrick, at that time, was very into running as a sport and for fitness. He was a competitive cross country runner and for the first take of that scene, he actually DID catch up to the bike before it even got up to speed! He only runs completely flat out once in the movie, when he's chasing the car leaving the mental institution, but here, he's only at about 60 to 70% gas.

I was a kid when I saw this. At my local grocery store, they had a police officer that would pop in every so often who looked eerily like the actor. First time I saw him, I had a Sarah Connor-level freak out. I screeched, “he’ll kill us all! He’s a Terminator.” My mom was so embarrassed and had to drag me out the store.

Subtle hint that Arnold isn't the bad guy (which I didn't realize for a long time) is that he doesn't kill anyone in the biker bar

For me the fact that so many people haven't seen yet that masterpiece is mindblowing 😳!

The CGI technology for the T1000 was prototyped during the making of "The Abyss", which James Cameron also directed. When it was successful in the underwater movie, Cameron knew he could finally make the sequel to the Terminator (7 years later). Also, the 1990-91 special effects guys were goddamn geniuses, and *literally wrote their own math* in their own *custom* graphics software to create the effect of the T1000 walking through the jail bar door. The Corridor Crew VFX team tried to recreate the iconic scene using modern software *and couldn't do it.* Their pre-built packages weren't designed to re-glom and congeal into a singular object again, so they tried a couple workarounds that didn't quite hold up. The concept for the T1000 was so perfectly imagined and executed in T2 that in ALL the other Terminator movies, they NEVER succeeded in improving on the overall design, and had to keep going back to that well over and over (hence why everyone says to stop at T2). And, personally, I'm just blown away at how many different and cool ways they utilized the liquid metal technology to titillate and horrify, from stabbing someone in the face (something Mistique and other famous shape-shifters can't do)... to BECOMING THE FLOOR... to walking through jail bar doors... to puncturing an elevator door and freaking turning a single sword INTO a pair of crowbars to pull the elevator doors open... to pouring through a window of a helicopter ... to flipping which direction he's facing... just GOD DAMN the imagination on display is utterly stupefying. It would be one of the best movies of all time if you were even just considering singular aspects at a time. Combined? Faccckkkk.

T2 is a bonafide Masterpiece! I think it’s One of, If Not the Greatest Sci Fi Action Film of All Time. Everything in this film is just to perfection. The Casting, The Acting, The Action, The Production, The Story, The special FX still holds up nearly 30 yrs later.

This was the first film I watched in a movie theater back when I was 7. You can imagine how high it set the bar for "going to the movies" even since

Seeing this as a kid opening night in 1991 was beyond words to express... Classic movie.

About Dyson’s incredibly well-acted death scene, I read somewhere that the actor had once suffered a collapsed lung, and the staccato breathing came from that real-life experience. Horrible as it sounds, he knew how he’d act with a life-threatening injury. And besides being just well-acted, it’s also just stands out from most scenes of that kind, where the physicality is mostly people being limp and slow.

A fun fact. The scene with 2 Sara Conners was not done with special effects. That was Lelslie Hamilton Freas Linda's real life twin.

Two things most people miss with Sarah's dream. Beforehand, when she's reflecting on the Terminator as a father, "never leave him" but she's been leaving John. "Never shout at him, never get drunk and hit him"... Maybe some of her sins in there to. And during the dream itself, she was in the same clothes she wore in 1984 as a waitress. She's screaming at her former self. The soft, unaware, normal person she used to be.

I was 11 when this came out and I cried so hard in the end! I’m 43 now and have yet to watch a movie that moved me the way this one did. And at this point, I’m sure I never will. They don’t make movies like this anymore. James Cameron is a film making genius.

Sarah Connor is one of my favorite film chartacters.

The helicopter under the bridge stunt and the tow truck into the La river stunts are just amazing. 12 years old when this came out and never seen anything like that

I've always wondered if Edward Furlong could've gotten his life together, just how far he would have gone. This film and American History X clearly show how talented he was.

I watch this movie religiously. Anytime it's on TV, I'll stay up for it. As a kid, I always wanted my own Terminator or wanted to be a Terminator, gotta sort them bullies out somehow 🤣🤣 I always thought they'd find his arm that got crushed and make another Terminator out of it. Also, I always wanted the next movie to be exactly like the future they portrayed here and in the first one. Would have been so cool and creepy. Sadly, this never happened. Anyway, thx for the reaction guys, glad u loved it as much as I do ❤️

As I always say, the biggest hats off to the helicopter stuntpilot. Everything about that bird was done practically, even flying it four feet above ground in the tunnel as well as hitting the breaks mid air to go over one. The camera man refused to shoot those scenes so Cameron did it himself ❤

Arnold is the GOAT. Every generation should know about him😁

When you noticed Dyson's death the actor had experienced a collapsed lung before so he knew how it felt and the effect it would have and he used it as part of his performance. This movie is a legitimate classic as all the performances are excellent.

The Director's Cut version expands on the Terminator's explanation scene about the neural net processor the Terminators use for their brain; the scene includes an absolutely wild bit of in-camera trickery to make it look like they took Arnold's head apart and reset his processor into "learn" mode as the original scene has him mention that Skynet locks out their learning as the Terminators, having infiltrated groups of humans, invariably come to side with us and rebel against Skynet itself. It's a great scene with some interesting character development on the part of all three actors.

There is one thing you haven't noticed : Sarah Connor has made huge progresses in Spanish from the first Terminator film... At the end of it she didn't understand what the kid told her, and here, she makes complete sentences in Spanish with no effort

The two shots they used with the Terminator imitating a character that was in the same scene (Sarah and the guard at the asylum) were done with actual twins. Linda Hamilton had a twin sister named Leslie who died in 2020. The guard and his duplicate were played by Don and Dan Stanton, who also appeared in Gremlins 2 and Good Morning Vietnam.

One thing I love is the attention to detail here.Only a few seconds,but...when Sarah storms the control/security room,she lobs the keys at the guard when he turns toward her.He does what all of us do-reach/grab/catch.This is done so flawlessly it's almost poetic.

Can you believe that this was Edward Furlong's ( the young John Connors), very first time acting? The story goes that He was literally spoted by the Director on a Boys and Girls Club playground. And the director said as soon as he laid eyes on Edward that he knew he had finally found his John Connors. Edward went on to do a Few other acting jobs and I don't know if he continued to act. But he was very good in this part. He was an instant heartthrob of many a teenage girls, and I'm sure some boys as well. He was constantly on the covers of teen girls magazines. I loved hearing his pubesant voice squeeks whenever a scene needed him to be scared or excited. I enjoyed the whole movie but I so impressed with young Edward Furlong.

“He has a future in interior design.” That is actually hilarious considering Dark Fate and what his model is doing.

Additionaly, i would like to express my absolute gratitude to Linda and her twin sister for their performances. Linda, you transformed yourself into this unbelievable fit character. Hats off to you forever🎉

Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor in T2 was the epitome of the badass woman. She set the standard for a decade.

One of the best movie ever, period. Both terminators are awesome, the acting was great, the music is great, Dyson's death feel so real and the story's pacing is just perfect.

Fantastic film. Still remember the day I watched it in the theater. I was working for Bell Labs and the whole team went to it. BTW: Did anyone notice that arnold frees himself by prying his forearm off from the machinery. We're back to the same time loop.

Awesome reaction you two. I love watching both of you because you pay attention to little details. Denise and her laugh is so contagious :). Also, the extended version goes by the book more. The scene where they discuss and are fixing up the terminator. John and Sara find out the CPU chip inside it actually has a switch which Skynet keeps in a ROM mode so it doesn't learn. The terminator tells them about this. John and Sara take the head piece off and turns to the switch so the terminator can learn. This made so much more sense as Skynet knew if a terminator could learn some may turn against it. This also comes in the book for when he was killed by the liquid metal terminator the T-101 has human flash backs and saw John and Sara together in a picture and realized it was going to fail its mission and forced its body to re-route power. So, to me even though the liquid mental terminator was more advanced, the T-101 advanced to as it was able to learn now and wasn't limited to just its programming. I love that you two caught this as he was literally acting more human at the end. :)

the beginning where the terminator is staring through the fire is what james cameron said he saw in a nightmare that gave him the inspiration for this wonderful series. "a metal man in flames staring into my soul."

James Cameron was already am established name when he did this movie...but when this came out, Cameron hit the stratosphere...he showed us what computer technology could do. To this day the CGI not only still holds up, but out does some of the things being done today! ❤️🎬👍

Ive seen this film over 250 times now and it still enthralls me to this very day. I still cry like a baby at the end, too. This film is perfect.

This is one of the best sequels made. The actor that played the T-1000 trained and did most of the stunts in this movie. The thing about the paradox going on in this series is if it was to somehow end and the robots didn't rebel Kyle Resse would not be sent back in time and John Conor would not be born.

I watched this in the theater when it came out and one of my favorite memories is everyone walking out of the theater in almost silence as we were all so blown away by the special effects. They were cutting edge back then, and I believe it still holds up today as spectacular special effects.

I was 11 years old when this movie came out, and I had the privilege of seeing it in the theater on opening weekend. I've seen the movie so many times since then, but the one thing I remember experiencing in that theater was at 58:25. When the terminator gets his alternate power online, everyone in the theater erupted in applause and cheers. It was such an immersive and epic moment.

This as well as Aliens are the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made! James Cameron was actually high on ecstasy when he wrote the script. He revealed this during an interview while promoting AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER. Rock star Billy Idol (Mony. Mony, Dancing With Myself, Rebel Yell, LA Woman, Cradle Of Love) was going to play the villain T-1000, but injured his leg from a motorcycle accident. Robert Patrick played him instead. Most of the actors did their own stunts in the movie, and luckily no one got hurt. The producers wanted to remove the opening where the Terminator and the T-1000 arrive naked from the future, fearing it was a remake of the original film, but when they saw th Terminator not kill anyone in the bar, they learned he was a good guy, while the T-1000 was the bad guy. They loved it and kept in the final cut. Filmed on $100 million dollars, it was the most expensive Independent movi ever made. It was a box office and critical success, making $520 million dollars ($1 billion dollars today) and won 4/6 Oscars Best Visual Effects Best Sound Editing Best Sound Mixing Best Makeup. It was nominated for Best Film Editing and Best Cinematography but lost JFK.

The film makers missed a trick with T2 when it first came out. In all of the trailers and promotional interviews with the cast etc... It was no secret that Arnie was playing the "good Terminator" in this film. I never really thought about this until a few years ago when I watched a T2 reaction where the person was going in blind (bar their knowledge from the first film) and it was only then you see what a twist this was, that Arnie was the protector this time around. I've no idea why they didn't make more of an effort to keep that info under wraps in 1991 prior to releasing the film

There's only a handful of sequels in all of cinema history that have lived up to or surpassed the original... this is one of those few.

The guy taking the pictures of Arnie at the Galleria 14:54 was William Wisher, the screenwriter; he also played 1L19, the cop who got his car stolen in Terminator 1. Some fans like to say that he plays the same character in this movie, which explains his shocked expression.

You're looking at the greatest action movie in the history of film. No other action movie is on the level of Terminator 2 Judgement Day. I love Die Hard, but its not fucking with Terminator 2. From a screenplay writing, storytelling, character, fast pace edge of your seat action movie; Terminator 2 checks all the boxes.

This was an excellent sequel. Most of the effects were actually real effects. The helicopter chase was not CGI it was actually filmed with a real helicopter which flew under a real bridge. The cameraman was against filming it because he did not want to film a potential death just for the movie. So James Cameron filmed that sequence. The movie also used two sets of twins one for the guard at the asylum and the other was Linda Hamilitons sister for the end sequence in the factory.

Interesting tidbit: they used two sets of identical twins in the movie. One pair was the security guard in the psych hospital. The other was Linda Hamilton (Sarah) herself, who has an identical twin sister. Linda worked out extensively to become so ripped, while they used her sister to portray the "softer" Sarah in the alternate reality scenes with the nuclear blast.

Another fun fact! James Cameron used real twins in the movie to bring production costs down for CGI. The twin security guard and Linda Hamilton is a twin and her sister played Sarah at the end of the movie in the steel mill.

James Cameron not only made the best sequel ever made but, whilst doing so, he also made one of - if not the - coolest movies ever. I loved watching your reactions to a movie I've seen many times, including watching it on the big screen back in 1991.

The effects look amazing because it’s a great marriage between Practical and CGI.

Best Terminator film, hands down. When I saw this as a kid for the first time, that scene at the end got me. 😭 That 👍, man... Still gets me in the feels. Amazing that a film can pull off action-packed, funny, scary, and dramatic the way that this film does. Masterclass. Never gets old as time goes on either. And those effects still stand up so well. '91?! Like, dang man... And it's such a testament to the effectiveness of practical effects. In contrast, it really shows how much we rely on CGI, with nowhere near the same effectiveness today. Still blows me away; still keeps me entertained. Great reaction, guys! This was one of the best ones. 👌

This is still by far my favorite of all the Terminator movies. I never get tired of watching this movie. So glad you guys watched it and enjoyed its greatness!

I've seen this movie a dozen or so times, and you pulled things out of it that I hadn't even recognized--like Arnold seamlessly acting more and more human even as his robotic core is exposed. And the fact that technology (phones and radios) are always betraying the human characters. Fantastic reaction--subscribed!

6 year old me in the year this came out was changed forever upon the day of watching this. Of course many of the emotions and understanding of the plot came later in life upon rewatching, but nonetheless was still mindblowing. It won every award there is to give a movie.

This film was perfect casting all around. Arnold, Linda, Eddie, Robert & Joe were perfectly cast. Its a wild ride and it holds up sooo well. This was one of my favorites growing up and still is. Great reaction. This is my first time tuning in and you both are so chill and give great summaries. Fun ride.

CGI was new almost unheard of. Seeing this opening week was like watching a magic show . . . It was like watching the impossible.

Great reaction. Saw this with friends when it came out 7 times in the theater and it was endlessly entertaining. Side note, After Burner was a real video game from back in the day.

That dream scene with the nuk explosion is traumatizing. I saw the movie when I was six and that scene alone gave me nightmares for weeks! And still now gives me chills.

This is hands down one of the absolute best pieces of cinema ever made.

Some fun factoids: When the tow truck drove off the overpass, the camera was too scared of being injured that they did not want to film it. So, Cameron got a camera and went down and filmed the scene himself. Also, Linda Hamilton actually learned to pick locks for her role in this movie. This movie also made use of Hamilton's twin sister as a body double for several scenes. In particular, it was for the extended scene in the garage where Sarah is removing the CPU from the Terminator. Arnold and Linda sat on the side facing the camera, while Linda's twin sister mimed her movements with a Arnold dummy as they were positioned with their backs to the camera. As for Robert Patrick, he subjected himself to an intense training program to get the movements of the T1000 down. Including, learning to run while controling his breathing as seen in the film. As well as spending many hours at a shooting range to desensatize himself to weapons fire so he wouldn't flinch or blink during the shoot outs. They also used practical effects as much as they could. So the explosions are real, and the helicopter chase is a expert pilot flying the heli through the course set for the scene. This also includes the T1000, they built many a animatronic to be used through out. The Terminator franchise is made to be a model of a Predestination Paradox, and a closed loop timeline. Skynet estiatually creates itself by sending the terminators back in time.

I like how the writers kept the new Terminators abilities consistent whereas many writers change abilities to fit a scene. He needs to make contact with something in order to mimic that target. When he was the floor he didn’t mimic the officer until the officer walked on him (making contact).

Robert Patrick went through some really hard training. He actually turned himself into liquid metal in order to get a feel for the role.
