Back then even if a movie wasn’t good, it wasn’t today’s kind of bad. You could still go, ok i watched it it just wasn’t for me. Movies today are just objectively awful with what they try to achieve
My thoughts exactly. J Cameron should have stuck with T1 and T2. Because even his rendition of Terminator Dark Fate was the biggest disappointment of all the terminator movies after Judgement day.
What do you mean there weren’t Terminator movies that sucked. The two movies in the franchise were awesome, there’s no such thing as the other movies. The only movies that exist are The Terminator and Terminator 2. What are you guys talking about?
@@Rakshasa1986 why do ppl keep saying they should have kept the twist a secret? Just think about it, if there is no twist, then T2 would basically be a remake of the first film. Who would want to see the same movie over again? By them giving the twist away, that actually made more ppl want to see it, because it had something new, a GOOD Terminator.
@@KoolKeithProductions because it's giving away the plot of the movie. You're crazy if you think T-800 being a good guy was the only reason people wanted to see T2.
Are you seriously having a go at CGI for a film that has one of the most famous and pioneering uses of CGI in film history? The stupidity goes far beyond the irony here.
I can't get enough of this teaser, even in 2023. it's like a part of the movie you weren't meant to see. Just the terminator factory pumping out temrinators.
I was 12 when this came out. I remember seeing this in the cinema and being mesmerized from the first scene onwards. I've watched it so many times since... it is still one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. I'm gonna go watch it right now
i just watched this teaser as well and T2 is 1 of my fav movies of al times a movie i could watch over n over again im gona go watch the DC version of T2 now as well
I was about the same age. I saw this movie six times in the theater I loved it so much. I also remember the first time I saw this specific commercial. I thought it was a car commercial at first because it kind of looked like it at the time.
One of the best teasers ever. Doesn't give away much, but it does set the tone and provide some good and original effects, not seen in T2 itself. Also establishes that Terminators are mass-produced, explaining how there is another after the first one was destroyed.
That is what James Cameron said. “The terminator is built on an assembly line and there’s one after another after another...and they all look like Arnold. I guess he’s just a good looking guy.” We have seen other 800 models like the ones from the horror of the hideout infiltration during Reese’s nightmare when Sarah’s photo was burned up in the ensuing 🔥 Maybe they were model 50 T-800 series model 50
G Kroll I had the VHS (dated myself) master edition which had a beautiful color production notes and companion in high-gloss. It showed a timeline and how during the war Conner and the rebels found the cold storage of terminators, of which you speak, and take one to go after the T-1000 In the arcade game after defeating (SD MY VIDEO of a perfect play of T2 the arcade game) SKYNET John Connor orders you to “Enter the time-field generator.”
you just reminded me Im gonna go to ebay whats the price on a huge box came with a folder two vhs tapes did you have this I gave one away to a friend Im going to try to get it back it was pretty nice remember this was before dvds@@Tigerman1138
@@MGrey-qb5xz Exactly. Fucking low IQ idiots on the internet getting up votes from other low IQ idiots. They think nostalgia makes them wiser somehow. Even the term "Extra effects" is stupid as hell. Good thing Arnold was born with light-up red eyes, right?
What I love about this teaser and even the original trailer, is that they give nothing away. I can only imagine the people seeing this for the first time had no idea that Arnold would be playing the hero, and they probably shook with an element of nostalgic fear at the idea of this terrifying mechanical monsters return to pillage the 20th century once more.
I remember not being too surprised because for some reason back then even before the movie came out I remember them kinda advertising the fact that Arnie was gonna be good in this movie..I'm envious of viewers now who watch it with no prior knowledge of arnie going good and love seeing their reaction because I feel when it came out we kinda had it spoiled for us already
@@copekillzz you’re right. There was a trailer where he says ‘I swear I won’t kill anybody’ or something like that, and it kinda hints at what’s coming. Also there was a lot of hype around the T-1000s CGI so people kinda figured it out. I remember seeing it at the cinema and knowing beforehand.
@@lgerback34 yea man I remember going to the movies knowing Arnold was a good guy. Looking back I wish spoilers meant what they do now and I would've gone into the movie with no knowledge of Arnie playing a good terminator...I think I would've freaked out lol
@@sandal_thong8631 my 70yo grandfather went by himself to see it in theaters and I was so jealous as a kid my parents wouldn’t take me even though I saw the first. Finally did get to see it on the big screen years later with the 3D release.
@@chatwithaninja That's how I first saw it too. Or maybe it was on the VHS of Kindergarden Cop? That was a long time ago, lol... Good trailer either way. I had only casually watched Terminator once or twice (was a little young to be watching such films) and it still totally grabbed my attention.
I had to look at other teasers before commenting. But I'd say it's probably the best on this video of 20, just beating out _The Force Awakens_ and _Superman Returns:_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tWQbnAo8-bU.html There was an excellent _Spider-Man (2002)_ trailer that got withdrawn after 9/11/2001 that featured the World Trade Center. One of the tops is _Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me._ It looked like it was going to be a teaser for _The Phantom Menace_ and said "If you see one movie this year [in 1999] then see Star Wars. But if you see two movies, see _Austin Powers...."_ _The Phantom Menace (1999)_ trailer is still hands-down the best of all time since people actually paid money just to see the trailer at the movies! Those that didn't took them a long time to download it (or similar one) from the internet on a 52k modem.
What the hell? You could watch this and not realise that Arnie isn't playing an evil Terminator in the sequel. What kinda trailer doesn't ruin the plot twist?!
Sam Porter well when you look up the etymology of evil it literally means bad times, but it also can mean an individual whose malicious. So in a way I guess the terminators are evil
I remember when I saw the trailer for this in the theater. I was going to see Total Recall with my dad. We were blown away. Everyone started cheering and the theater was pumped. The best trailer and surprise of my life. Also got a slam dunk Sci fi action flick that was awesome to watch. Pure Arnold night. My mom found out after, and went see Total Recall because of it. Guys night out was special that night with my dad and I lol.
I remember seeing this on the VHS of Total Recall with a bunch of friends. It had been a while since the original but the music and the visuals seemed so familiar I kept saying "what is this, I know this". Eventually, I said "is this Terminator?" Then suddenly it's Arnie, the red eyes open and he says the line as only he can. I don't know if I have ever been so pumped seeing a trailer in my life as I was right then.
I love this teaser. The scanning laser beam, I got the idea that it was either texturing the metal in readiness for the tissue grafting process (it occurs just before the tissue grafting) or was it to "disinfect" the endo, remove metal swarf and excess grease/oil/hydraulic fluid from the machining, as a cleanup process? No matter, Stan Winston and James Cameron thought of EVERYTHING, this has to be up there as one of the best teaser trailers EVER. Another idea for the scanning beam.....quality control, to ensure the endo is built correctly
It's a scanning beam. It's not doing any hardening of the steel/titanium alloy. That's like Colt building a pistol than after heat treating it. The parts of the terminator were done before it was assembled in the final endo assembley stand.

Incredibly good mastering of the audio, the dyamic range and punch in the bass is terrific. Some of the 80-90’s stuff just blows away what we have today
The best trailer I have ever seen in my life, the best movie I have ever seen in my life, I Saw it 8 times in the cinema as a 14yrld kid …. I am now 42 and still I am utterly obsessed with it and still regularly watch and talk about it.
henry7696 I was 9 when my parents rented it on tape. Needless to say, I had nightmares, but from about age 15, this movie become my favorite of all time.
Jea Ah damn, when you were a child every action movie looked like the most epic thing, but when you rewatch a large portion of those same movies as an adult they look horribly dull and cheap. Only the really good ones always look epic.
+ABW941 yes haha but Im talking about terminator appeareance in T1 &2. Looking T-800 in T1 looks more scary remember when he chases kyle and sarah in the factory or when he is fixing himself xd
Ahhhhh, back in the day when the only way of knowing about an upcoming sequel was a magazine or teaser at the start of a VHS rental. The world was better place.
@Pete #1 Did you notice that Arnold says "I'll be back." at the end of the trailer. This is actually a callback to a line he said in the first Terminator movie. Guess he is back here. #2 We see a T-800 being made. This is the model that featured in the first movie. This must mean that the T-800 will appear at this movie too. #3 I bet you missed how the Terminator's eyes glow red. Since red is the color of Ultron, this surely means that Ultron is involved in the story somehow. #4 They focused on the arms being attached on the Terminator. This surely means that his arms get ripped off or play a major role or otherwise they wouldn't have shown it. #5 The Terminator is a T-800 Model 101. This is shown on the screen. Bet you missed this. #6 We see how the T-800 is built on an assembly line. We are 100% sure this means that we get to see several T-800s in this upcoming movie. Its totally logical. #7 Skin and human tissue is crafted on the endo-skeleton of the Terminator. This is a clever reverse to the first Terminator where the tissue burned off. #8 The title at the end says first T2 with then being closed of by Terminator 2 Judgement Day. Does this mean that maybe T2 means something else? If you turn it around it could mean 2T which translates to "to Terminator". Does this mean that this is going to be a prequel, and not a sequel to Terminator? This possibility must be considered. #9 You probably missed that the film will come out in 1991. #10 You may not have noticed that the eyes of the T-800 opened before the tissue was crafted on him. This means that the Terminators are fully activated during production. Bet you didn't notice that.
this should have been in t2 somewhere too bad arnold was da good guy the first one will always be the best and that annoying kid was terrible get down now get to the choppa
yes now down load it now at da app store get down now and strike! get to da choppa you cant win dis one dillion what da hell are you if it bleed we can kill it
Oh yes it totally sucks. Looks just horrible. How could that not know that what they a making sucks while they are making it is beyond me. It’s as though it sucks on purpose
Love how this trailer isn't anywhere in the movie at all. Basically this is before T2 even happens when they capture Arnie and reprogram him. Love this
The difference between a teaser and a trailer is that a teaser is separately created with original footage, and rather intentionally doesn't show any actual footage from the movie. (Teasers might even be created before there is any actual movie footage.)
My sister took me to see this in theaters. I was 8.....it was one of the most spectacular movies I had ever seen at that age and to this day one of the top ten best movies ever made. What a summer it was. Long live model 101. The gravy train of good movies continued until 95.
I remember my brother and seeing this play before a movie we rented. We were both blown away because we had no idea this was coming out. A true teaser trailer to get you hyped.
I still remember the day when T2 got out in '91. I was 11. We got to the cinema with my mom. Watched it. And bought tickets on right next display and watched for the 2nd time. 2 watches in a row - it was that much engaging & touching. And yeah the whole f**king cinema hall was crying in tears in the end. Exactly in '91 there was nothing better than T2. Absolute blast. Well and still one of the best - effects stood the test of time nicely. All those Avatars are no match with T1 and T2
Man those were the days . When Total Recall came out on VHS, this T2 clip was in the previews. My mom took me to see T2 when it finally came out. I was blown away and the thumbs up at the end had me shook for a month.
Фильмы T1 и Т2 действительно феноменальны, это особое исключение Американских фильмов от многих других подобных фильмов в мире. Американцы вложили душу в этот фильм, который можно смотреть далеко не один раз.
Look back Hollywood this is how you make a trailer. Builds excitement to watch the movie without showing all the best scenes from the movie or making the movie look like it's about something it's not. Perfect for a sequel.
Teaser not trailer. Teasers were just that, they teased. Trailers used to be after movies. Hence they trailed the movie afterwards. Then shit got all rearranged.
One of the first trailers, that was published on the Internet in 1990. It was compressed in low-resolution MOV file. I still have it on... 3.5 '' diskette :))) Downloaded in 1991 via modem.
A lot of modern special effects look amazing, and a lot of movies use CG without the audiences knowing. Joker, for example, added buildings in the skyline with CG to make the city feel more suffocating. While practical efffects are amazing, doubting the power of modern special effects is easy to do when you see practical efffects from 30 years ago at this level. Some effects we see today weren't even possible in the past, and that's just as impressive
Seeing T2 when it came out was one of my favorite movie going memories!! Was with my college roommates in 1991, Springfield, MO. and we were SO Hiiiiiiiiiggghhhh and just laughing and losing ourselves etc. and then….the movie started. Wow. We were SO blown away and Hiiiiiiiggghhhhhhh as F*ck!! SO much fun! ****sigh***
I'll add in, I think this is by far one of the most creative trailers ever. All practical, makes such a difference. I mean seeing this you just HAD to see the movie.
I saw this in the theater on original release. The other trailer only told you "this time theres 2." You had no clue until you were sitting there watching it for the first time what to expect. Marketing done right. The way they shot the trailers too still had you believing that Arnold was mostly evil. Guys, movies nowadays, fail miserably to generate the amount of excitement and energy that was in the air 3 nights into opening night. Theater was packed. Terminator 2 is still my number one movie going experience to this day!!! And while I love T2, the original is still my favorite tho.
I remember this. Back when Arnold made a summer movie. This had everyone so hyped it was crazy. You Could Be Mine by G&R, the Fast Food marketing campaigns.. - This was a big.. fucking... deal. Now it's just Marvel movies, lol. This was also the first movie to really blow people's minds with CGI - before Jurassic Park, etc. Cameron and Arnold at the top of their game before Cameron started making science projects. Oh my god what an era the 90's were.
Imagine if this was the only trailer we ever got for T2. People's heads would have exploded when Arnie tells John to get down and then shoots the T-1000!
Remember seeing this on MTV, back when they actually played music, and wondering "What this for?" (hadn't seen The Terminator for ages) and then seeing Arnie and the Terminator 2 sign and jumping out of my chair, yelling "YES" at the top of my lungs
