Hello there, all you absolutely magnificent people, and welcome to another An Ecologist Plays live stream, where we are back in Empires of the Undergrowth! Last time, we had our abdomens handed to us by the southern termite colony... but tonight, we will not let that happen! We will also hopefully be taking on (and beating) the final experiment, and then it is time to see what lies ahead for us! So, bring your ecology questions, and let's jump right in!

Yay! You have now finished the main game. Victory for the Ereptor indeed... Can't wait for you to play the Extra Levels (and also the Demo ones while you're at it). Don't forget to look at the Battle Arena and of course fool around in Freeplay too! Of note, there are 3 special levels: one for Halloween (Hungry Spider, the one you tried), one for Christmas (Festive Spider) and one for Chinese New Year (New Year's Feast: having a Chinese narrator with English subtitles). **ALL OF THEM ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT** so don't get bummed out if you lose once...or twice... or several dozen times.

Indeed!! I cannot believe we reached the end (which is still not the end). I think the next bunch of streams will be some of the more requested videos, and thereafter I'll do all the challenges and extra levels that weren't done as part of the requested videos. Well, now I do not feel so bad for failing so spectacularly in the special level! XD

@@AnEcologistPlays Good to hear that you're doing all the extra levels, most of them are really fun and some even have unique gameplay concepts. Don't feel too bad for losing any level, as far as I remember you've only lost the termite one which means you're pretty good at the game. Try the special levels if you wish, but many youtubers that also play the game have given up on them. If you really want to do it all you might even have to dedicate an entire stream to one or two of them. No pressure at all, the important thing is having fun.

Sad you missed it! But yes, there's always the next one! And thankfully they are all available afterwards as well (though it is amazing for me to be able to interact with everyone during the stream. :-)

i suggest that you play the other foot, in my opinion it is one of the best extra levels and it unlocks the counterpart colony in freeplay(conterpanrt being the other ereptor colony in formicarium challenge 3)

Remember to buy worker upgrades cause those apply to every type of worker in ng+ just like your queen upgrade applies to every type of queen. Upgraded harvest on termite and leafcutter levels gets insane

sure the ants are now immune to fire,lazer,acidand lightning but they are still vunerable to molten alluminum

Interestingly, it is possible for something to incredibly resilient to certain things but still vulnerable to others. For example, tardigrades (water-bears) are able to withstand the most horrendous extreme conditions, but they are still susceptible to a host of other, more minor things. :-)

Things that can still kill the ants, assuming that Mutant Scientist 2 doesn't raid the pantry and do more tests after murdering Security Guy and Scientist 1: -Pesticide -Intense cold (liquid nitrogen) -Other end of the pH spectrum (powerful alkalines, like hydrogen peroxide) -Molten metal (what you said LOL) -Explosives! Teehee -Just step on them.

You clearly seem super excited about the possibility of explosions...🤣🤣 Remember the safety goggles! Only now do I completely comprehend the original comment (my mind is a bit slow this morning). Unfortunately, even molten aluminium may not be enough to get rid of them, as I have seen videos of fire ant colonies just "shrugging" and carrying on as usual after having their nest "aluminated". Perhaps our ereptors would be even more resilient...

Howdy! wish I had caught the stream, I recently found your channel through the empires of the undergrowth series, and I've been enjoying learning even more about the creatures and ecosystems in this game I've been playing for years, a game which is part of the reason I have chosen entomology for my major as I begin college. I do want to ask, what is your favorite ant species?

Hello there, and welcome aboard!! XD I am so glad you have been enjoying the series - it has been (and still is) an absolute blast to make). Entomology is really a fascinating field of study, and it is awesome that this game could help guide you to that major. Goodness, favourite ant, you ask? Well, in-game it definitely is the Matabele ant, followed by the leafcutters. But in real life, I would say my favourite is the Ringbum Millipede Muncher Ant (Plectroctena mandibularis), followed closely behind by the Black Cocktail Ant (Crematogaster peringueyi). What would you say is your favourite ant species?

That's a great idea... I most definitely can do that. Can also try Fire ant vs. Fire ant, as one would have in their natural habitat.

You can do challenges in ng+ you just need to beat the level before challenge is allowed which i think is the same as when you start

Indeed, yes, that would be the case... but the enemies faced would be even harder (since it is NG+), so it may be best for me to beat the challenge levels before moving on to NG+.

Oh, indeed!! Looking at how the fire ants (which is now part of our F. ereptor's genetic code) are able to take over entire ecosystems, this does not bode well...
