Ever noticed how similiar Palmarosa and Nerol smell like? I once made my own Damascena Rose accord, which I love so much. I simply checked out the ingredients found in it and replaced those I didn't have with oils that had the highest amount of it. Pretty weird method but it worked so well. Did the same with Freesia Refracta.

No I haven’t but for sure it’s a viable method for a first approximation. Thanks for the heads up in palmarosa.

Sam, you're unimaginably knowledgeable! Every single video I watch or listen to, I learn so much (even if I have to rewatch them quite a few times, sometimes 🙈😅)! I laughingly tell my friends that you're my perfume guru. 😂

MacerNation gang GANG!! This is such a great lens to introduce aroma chemical classes with more detail than you get in a lot of these textbooks. I'm trying to pin down the essences and overlap of elderflower and lychee, and this helped confirm my suspicions about rose oxide. What enantiomeric proportions does your rose oxide have? I'm hearing more about cis than trans.

Thank you! The rose oxide I have is from Pell Wall so you could check on their website and see what it says. Also check out the farnesol!

You will sound more noble and classically-educated if you pronounce "Short-lived" with a long "i" as in "nine" or "spine", as Winston Churchill would likely do. Less noble and more common if you pronounce it with a short "i", as Boy George probably would do

Awesome videos as usual, Sam! Keep up the great work. Very informative. Love your high standard of quality, and how consistent you've been at delivering quality videos every time. :) Edit: also, when the video ended, the very relaxing almost ASMR tone suddenly shifting to heavy metal took me by surprise. Suddenly massive tone shift was funny.

Thanks Jay, I appreciate it. I’ve for sure been focusing more on the editing the last couple of weeks. Hahaha, hope you enjoyed that little easter egg. Glad you made it to the end!

I used Geranyl Acetate in my first rose trial, it definitely gives sort of fruity aspect. It smells pear like on its own as well.

anyone recommend a starter kit from a reputable site? and where can i find alcohol easily and not massively expensive
@sammacer
@sammacer 2 года назад
If you’re in the UK you can get perfumers alcohol on eBay. The first starter kit I got was Pell Wall but there are others out there. If you join my discord and ask there you might be able to get some other peoples experiences

In the US I’ve been buying denatured perfumer’s alcohol from Vetiver Aromatics. It’s $32 for 32 ounces, not exactly cheap but cheaper than other sources I was using. Unfortunately in my state you can no longer buy 190-proof Everclear, although I’m not sure if it would be any cheaper (it just would have been more convenient because I could get it locally instead of ordering it).
