Terra Nova Nothernlite 2 or Durston Xmid 2…. Both great tents. Which would you choose?

Hey Guys, bit of a different video today with a look at our 3 and 4 season tents.
We have had our Durston Xmid 2 for over a year and used it a fair bit.
We absolutely love this shelter and it has kept us safe and dry on some pretty grim camps, it’s weight or lack of is a big bonus and the fact it pitches in around 5 minutes makes it a great backpacking tent.
We would definitely recommend the Durston with only a couple of small gripes about it (as you’ll see in the video) its almost the perfect 3 season tent.
We have been on the search for a 4 season tent to use into the winter and on our planned trip to Scotland next spring to do The West Highland Way. Weight is the main issue when looking at a true 4 season tent, ohh and cost of course!! We settled on the Terra Nova Northerlite 2. It’s heavier than the Xmid at 2.2Kg about a kilo or so but will take far more weather…..at least it should.
Hope you enjoy a look around the tents, we are very pleased with both of them and look forward to many more adventures putting them through their paces.
Thanks for watching :) and if you could please like and subscribe. It really does help our small channel get noticed on RU-vid.
All the best

Great Review 👍 It will be interesting how the northernlite deals with condensation.

@@philiphoward767 thank you ☺️ hopefully the nothernlite will perform okay, if it’s half as good as the Durston for condensation I’ll be chuffed 👍🏼

That's the first review video that Ive seen of the XMID 2 with Durstons own flick poles. I bought them too when I got my tent, but have never used them. How do you think they compare to trekking poles? Also, I think you may get a better pitch if you peg out an entire short side first , nice and tight, then move along the length to do the third corner, still keeping it straight and tight, before doing the fourth and final corner. Regards, Wadi

@@wadirunner thanks for your comment Wadi 👍🏼 useful tip that, must admit I’ve never tried short side first, will definitely give that a go on our next outing 😊 I had my doubts about the z flick poles when they arrived, as you’ve seen they are much smaller/lighter than the trekking poles but they are fantastic. We had our tent pitched at buttermere in very strong winds and they held all nite. I’ve been pleasantly surprised, I use trekking poles a fair bit so always have them to hand should I need them. The main reason I got them was so I could pitch my tent and still have the trekking poles to hike from camp ( if staying lower than the peaks) 😆
