Interesting debate. Ultimately it’s on you to handle your business correctly and place the value on your work that feels adequate and live with it. You can’t be mad if others are demanding and receiving more.

Even if he was doing it for the love, the person still should have paid him something. The fact that you went over there and paid them only for him to be still be involved is definitely a slap in the face. Basically the wrap friends were taking advantage of his talents. If they were truly his friend they would have never done that. You don't $%*^ on those that genuinely want to see you win.

Put it like this, put somebody in a position where if they need your services they're going to have pay one way or another #1 Just pay me my fee & we'll be done with it or #2 I get 50% of your profits over an extended period of time or forever(with the implication that you HAVE to attempt to monetize on the finished product within a specified time period.)Hypothetically, would you rather pay me my $20k Fee or give me "Hypothetically" 50% of something that made $10 Million?

Where I think it stops being a favour is when your mate is going to make money from your help. If you’re really my man & my favour got you paid, you gotta as a principle, appreciate a homie/s that got you that bag. Another way to look at this is if it’s business, then we doing business so it has to be professional from the jump (beginning).
