Wonderfully explained! It's not an exaggeratedly complicated game, but I'm trying to internalize the rules as to avoid any confusion when I bring mine to a table.
Jon, you're great! When I wanna get a taste of what playing a game feels like, I look no further. You're my go-to guy. Thanks for everything and greetings from Argentina.
I got to play this recently at Dice Tower East. We made a mistake and scored every bonus tile every round. Other than that we got the rules correct. I personally loved the game and will be buying a copy. Thanks for the demo!
This game has received very polarizing reviews, from people hating it to others loving it. I like what I saw in your playthrough, except for maybe there being a bit too much scoring upkeep. Curious to see how this game holds up.
Very interesting game, definitely a buy for me ! Thank you for another stellar tutorial Jon ! I have a question regarding scoring though. During that inspection at the end of the first round, isn't green dominating the lower left quadrant because of the horse ?
The horse only changes the footprint of the warrior on it, not the power level of it. So that Warrior still adds 1 power to the majority scoring, but it exists in 3 spaces which means it can compete in more different scorings potentially.
I've played a full game of this once, and it was at 2p with my friend Anastasia. We both enjoyed it, and I talked about it for over 15 minutes in an exclusive Opinions vlog if you'd like to hear a bunch more detail. I'm looking forward to playing this one more once I get a final version.
I loved everything else in the game except scoring complexities which put me off. I personally feel it's too much to understand and remember how scoring works. Still I was with you on rules for end of round scoring, but groups and individual statue scoring at the end of the game completely put me off. You explained everything in a great manner, but the rules for scoring seem to be too much for me.
I'm in the same boat. It looks really nice and the worker placement mechanism with the 'rondels' feels fresh. I also like the placing and majority mechanism in the mausoleum, but indeed, the scoring mechanism feels way too convoluted. I would love to play, but I won't put the game on my 'must buy' list.
I can see this perspective, but did want to mention that I played a 2p version of this on TTS after making the video and didn't find the different scorings to be hard to parse online anyway. I wouldn't say they were easy to parse either, but I didn't feel frustrated with crunching them while playing.
Wondering how long it took to learn the rules on this one,i think plenty of concentration for this one.....Like the components and board so a winner for me.
During the guard special ability activation. We can move any one unit on the board? Meaning I can move any type of the warrior anywhere on the board or only the guard?
