hitmen culture was big in new orleans. in other cities, people weren't really putting hits on people like that. but in new orleans, putting contracts on people's heads was apart of the culture. that was a hustle. plus drugs were apart of the culture way back. heroin and cocaine were like casual drugs when most people who were that young was still doing alcohol and weed. yeah, texas was on the lean in the 90s but new orleans street culture really embraced heroin. so a lot of those guys who were catching bodies were doing it to maintain their drug habits. if someone is giving you 5 ounces to take someone out, you're going to be able to maintain your habit for a long time and sell some to make money..and you dont have to rob drug dealers. new orleans was just cut throat man. it wasn't just gang banging. you had violence coming from all angles. people taking contracts for money or drugs, people avenging their homies, you had corrupt police, new orleans is a port city so they had a massive amount of drugs coming from all over the world and country. it was just a recipe for disaster in the 90s.
