Hey Josh, this is really good! And the product of a lot of work, that much is obvious. I'd love you to do another take of it, w/o the distraction behind you, and then submit it to the Dead Covers Project. You'd get a lot of exposure, and this arrangement/rendition is very very very worthy of the exposure.
All I can say is WOW…..as a Dead fan for more than 47 years…. you absolutely nailed it and then some…. Jerry would have stopped to listen…and I’m sure he would just smile smile smile….you definitely did this masterpiece justice!!! Going share and listen again…. Thank You ✌️✌️✌️
Imagine a scenario where a person has never heard of you but that person is trying to find a good version of Terrapin Station on acoustic guitar. You have set the bar very high my friend and apparently you're somebody who's somebody but this song is the Masterpiece that you did Justice to thank you very much
If only I could remember my name, I might have remembered I had been here before. When you can jump around on the Time Coast is great to have that feeling of deja vu & realize "we have all been here before"✌️💜&🎶
8/10 A couple of observations. 1. Those strings sound like they just came out of the package and are just worn in enough to stay in tune. 2. There is not one verse that you play exactly the same. Each one rather is perfectly timed and with exactly the right inflection of the words revealing subtle differences the more you listen to it. 3. Your signal is dry as a bone there's not touch of Reverb or any sort of anything that sounds like that's like a webcam or a condenser mic plug straight into something like that is like you're sitting in my living room and there's nothing else going on there just a voice and acoustic guitar and you can hear the wind, so you're not running so much as compression. That takes balls. 4. Performance is close to flawless. You are a guy who either spend hours a day playing for a living or you have some freakish natural gift. ( both I suspect ) I had sort of dismissed The Grateful Dead as a crazy drug scene and then I'm now falling in love with their music later in life so yours is a version that to me is now the definitive version. I would give you 10 out of 10 stars but I don't want you to get cocky and stop trying. So then I started listening to some of these other things are doing and your original song another road song reminds me of why stopped trying to write songs: because it's it is if you opened up my head and took the chords and the sounds right out of my brain and did it better than I ever could. People say I'm a great musicia, but I will never be as good as you are. Fact The only thing that could make this better is if you were in my living room and we were playing this together.
Man! Thank you for taking the time to write this. I really like your analysis. couple of things; I’m far from figuring it all out and I’m not a great guitar player but I’m working on it everyday (I did play 2 hour livestreams everyday for 365 days in a row during the pandemic) I think that has helped me tremendously. I recorded this video with just the iPhone 11’s built in mic - the strings were fairly new on this new to me Martin (not my go-to acoustic, but still love it especially not plugged in) This song is probably my favorite Dead tune right now - the chord changes are just perfect!
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing. Been studying and playing this a lot lately. Fun to play and even better to listen to a wonderful interpretation. 🍻⚡️💀🎸
