Terraria 1.3 - Twins, Expert Mode Boss Battle 

Restarting from scratch on expert mode has made me more afraid of zombies than any actual zombie game made in the last ten years.

Hey y'all! The Mechanical Bosses havn't changed that much - except for health and damage - in expert mode. But either way I think it's good to see how it can be done with armor from that tier. Spazmatism should get the same AI as EoC's 3rd phase and Retinazer should shoot a massive laser beam instead of shooting like a machinegun

I think the battle with the Twins in expert mode could have been improved in several ways. I would have made them have three stages: the first and the second would be the normal ones, and then there is a third stage: Spazmatism would change his shooting mode and would proceed to shoot cursed flames with more spread but with a longest time interval, like a shotgun. Retinazer would be in diagonal with the player and would start shooting lasers that follow a zig-zag pattern, like the third stage of the Eye of Cthulhu. I don't know, but I think that a simple buff in health and damage is a bit boring.

Does the boss become stronger if you are two players? I play with my useless little brother and it is like I have to solo the whole thing D: Also, is crystal storm a good choice of weapon?

The Twins was my first Hardmode boss to beat on Classic since all I really needed to do to ensure a victory was to have Titanium gear and an Onyx Blaster with Tungsten Bullets or stronger. Won on my third try once I was able to memorize Spazmatism's patterns and dodge all charges. Expert Twins were something else. Almost exploded my health in seconds until I managed to dodge Spazmatism's Cursed Flames and charge attacks. I had Adamantite Armor this time and had the Crimson so I could use Ichor against the boss while I had Corruption in my Classic world. The Onyx Blaster worked as usual, but I really had to hit my shots to kill Spazmatism as quick as possible before its Phase 2 incinerated me to nothingness. I finally killed Spazmatism with the Minishark and Adamantite Repeater along with a combination of Ironskin, Regeneration, Endurance, Thorns, and Summoners (Spider and Imp staffs were used) potions. Afterwards, it was tolerable since the Shield of Cthulhu helped me weave around Retinazer's laser attacks. Strangely, I managed to pull off the whole fight in one try with me barley avoiding death multiple times.

You know a boss is hard when Yrimir gets down below half health most of the fight.

i really wanted the twins to have the same change that the eye of cthulhu got in expert mode, with the charging and all. but still, a pretty cool fight if i do say so myself. i just hope that 1.3.1 or a future update adds more unique expert mode abilities to the hardmode bosses (minus duke) and queen bee/king slime

This morining I was battling the twins in expert mode and after I defeated them another pair of twins spawned without me using a mechanical eye,and I was strugling to get A mechanical eye,so I was like WHATEVER I GET FREE LOOT!

Just to mention something, if u drop the guide voodoo doll into lava, the guide dissent die, his soul is in the middle of the wall of flesh so that means the doll is in the wof , the guide's eyes are the laser shooters and the middle cuthulu of wof is the guides mouth so if u think the guide dies, he doesent. He becomes the wall of flesh

why not use daedalus + holy arrows? they make all mechanical bosses look like a joke. no other pre-mechanical boss weapon even comes close to this item combination

Spazmatism 1st phase normal mode - "Hey dude, what's up?" Spazmatism 2nd phase normal mode - "Dude! Leave me alone!" Spazmatism 1st phase expert mode - "Look, you'll pay for this..." Spazmatism 2nd phase expert mode - "You are fu**king dead."

Golden hearts saved you, thats kinda unfair since you can only get them after you defeat all the mechanical bosses...

Glad to see you're uploading again, Yri. Especially glad to see you're putting a twist on things and you aren't just sitting there with a razorpine or a blizzard staff, however I think I'm going to die if I have have to hold out any longer without another episode of the summoner play through. I found the expert mode fight pretty simple. I failed in my first attempt quite badly, despite having prepared. The second fight they came by themselves and I had them pretty much beat without any preparation until a fricking tortoise jumped at me from off the screen. Third time is a charm, when I used gravity potions to run on my skybridge upside-down, keeping retinazer out of the equation until spazmatizm was dealt with. This made the fight very easy as I only had to focus on dodging the fireballs and flames.

To anyone attempting this fight yourselves in a similar manner, I wouldn't recommend using Hellfire Arrows. Try Unholy Arrows. Sure, they deal a bit less damage, but they pierce, meaning you have a chance to hit both Twins, and they don't deal damage to you because they don't explode.

Life Fruit doesn't spawn until one Hardmode Boss has been KOed, and I see you are trying to go for Pre-Hardmode Boss gear, cheating?

I know it sounds wimpy, but when fighting the twins (in normal mode) I make a skybridge to get the twins far enough to where retinazer despawns but not spazmatism. Then I use a magic mirror to teleport to my arena, where spazmatism follows me, and I fight him there.

These guys are almost impossible to beat with mage on expert. It's crazy how hard they are, given that Skele Prime is a total walkover (I found him to be the easiest of the 3, Destroyer was harder!). But no matter how much prep you do for the Twins, a mage's lack of defence really hurts. 14 less damage absorbtion per hit. Frankly it's cheap that you have 600 health in this video. You need to beat the mecha bosses to even get that much health in the first place! How about showing us you beating him with the proper HP that you should have? I notice you almost died with 600 hp, so how do you think people with 480 hp are going to do? Some of us would like to beat him legit without abusing minecarts, health statues. And again, it's crazy how easy Skele Prime is (seriously you don't even need to heal), compared to the absolute pounding these guys dish out.

I find Holy Arrows to be effective, the crfting output recently got buffed from 45 to 200 per Unicorn Horn (and 3 pixie dust). That makes them easier to get plenty of for a boss fight. Though they don't work as effectivly against the Twins due to their rapid speed and smaller hitbox compared to the Destroyer.

something to note is that cursed arrows do more damage output than most arrows pre-plantera due to the cursed flames debuff doing way more damage to bosses

I feel like Yrimir made it harder for himself. I had the twins spawn naturally on expert mode, and I brought Spazmatizim down to his second phase with just the Amarok before I died, and that was when I wasn't prepared. If I was, I would have probably gone to Retinazer down to his second phase too. But, I don't really know how hard the bosses are in general, because I didn't really try. I just flew real high up and fell all the way down. It works for dodging the cursed flame and lasers in the first phases!

Holy arrows and the storm-bow should work if you have a good strat and a good boss place to fight it same with the destroyer make box because then the destroyers lasers wouldn't hurt you but make sure the prodes dont get close to you. I'd recommend using he holy cross so you wouldn't take a lot of damage. Etc

On expert mode, I have some good tips on how to beat them. You will need a nice, big sky bridge. Second, a friend to distract them incase you need to heal or respawn. Second, a terra blade is really good for fighting them, as you can run like a coward and do mad damage!

A Shield of Cthulhu would have rlly helped u. That thing is a lifesaver for me personally

The Twins are one of the toughest bosses in the game in my opinion. There are two main reasons I think so. The first is Spazmatizm's second form. If you can't out run that cursed flamethrower you're done. The second is their mobility. They are so fast that it's hard to hit and dodge them at the same time. My advice is get the best wings you can and a good summon like spiders. Then get ranger armor and accessories and shoot away with ichor and crystal bullets

I recommend using the clockwork assault rifle [rapid modifier] with crystal bullets or ichor/cursed bullets for the twins. It fires in burst per bullets and has a decent DPS. If you suck at range. Also, Charm of Myths really helps.

If anyone is still struggling, using a gravitational potion made the right really easy for me! Dodging all their attacks becomes real easy if you are just falling 90% of the time! I had a real hard time with this boss but that potion carried me bigtime!

Here are some tips for normal mode players I hope this will help1. Try to take down the green eye first, it is the stronger of the two and shouldnt be a problem in phase 1 as most of the fireballs will miss if you are in 1 place2. focus all your fire on one eye and NEVER let them unleash there second form at the same time3. The red eyes laser can fire up to the speed of a megashark4. The recipe for a Mechanical eye is 6 iron/lead bars, 6 souls of light (underground hallow) and 3 lens. Black lens will not work5. Bring 20+ greater health potions, 3 ironskin potions, and a mount if you want6. The twins are stronger than Destroyer and weaker than Skeletron Prime7. Try to have +60 defence, you can easily achieve this by full hallowed armor with mask, all of equipment being armored and have a moon stone (probably dropped during solar eclipse idk)8. Have a megashark with 500 crystal/cursed bullets (ichor is also useful) and a true excalibur/nights edge, also have a hallowed repeater

here a recomendation use 1.dart gun (a drop from crimson mimic) & ichor dart 2.titanium armor 3.a lot of potions 4.wings 5.all menacing accesory sorry for bad english

i killed them with my storm bow (i droped him on a hollowed chest) and the holy arrows they´re so strong i killed in 2 minutes i think this is the best combination

Finally killed these guys with mage, on like the 5th or 6th attempt :p Maybe more... Mythical Crystal Fish Thing (fished in Hallow) Golden Shower Nimbus Cloud Spider Staff (3x summon with poition and clicky from table) 3 warding/3 lucky: Frozen Turtle Shell, Fiery Wings, Charm Myths, Frostspark boots, Ankh shield, Sorcerer emblem. Hallowed armor with magic mask (from Destroyer). 400 HP (I did have 20 life fruit but didn't use them until after beating it :D Call me a masochist). Used every potion in the game :p Also the Bewitching Table for a 3rd spider summon. The nimbus clouds are the most damaging thing I have, but the Crystal Serpent is also very, very good. Not all that rare, but you have to fish. Built a big one tile wide pole going into the sky, for fast height gain, the stick a cloud at the top and float down, while the eyes get rained on. Didn't need the nurse, which is good, as it's cheesy :p But took hours and hours and hours of farming and reforging :(

i really feel that the spazy eye will be so much cooler if in his second form if he flies extremely quickly in a circle several times creating a circle of green flames in small intervels and the lazer guy will charge up a huge laser to shoot u with a big laser in his second form. opportunity missed

I like fighting retinazer (red laser eye) first because spazmatism's 2nd form is way easier when you dont have to worry about both eyes

This is really easy with the Daedalus Stormbow equipped with Holy Arrows. I beat all three mechanical bosses on expert in succession on a single night on expert, & the weapon carried me all the way until the Celestial Pillars themselves until I acquired the Phantasm. Of course, acquiring said weapon was no easy endeavor.... Damn Mimics are bastards to kill. Awesome videos though! I can only really play ranged to be honest. I'm currently doing a magic playthrough on normal though because I need to familiarize myself with it until I can tackle expert mage.

Is it just me or does Retinazer has a bigger charge on first form than on normal mode?

You can still get the golden shower and megashark pre-twins though, those weapons help a lot.

If you are very lucky a shadow chest just a few blocks below the start of underworld will spwn and will always contain drax so you can eaven get it pre hard mode! Witch make cloraphyte if your lucky avalible as soon as you enter hard mode (bit best to let it bild up untill you need it like befor fighting the twins)

Try using the Daedalus Stormbow with Ichor Arrows, and bring 2 Gravitation Potions and just go pretty much straight up and down. It was working for me until my only Gravitation potion ran out, and I had to try dodging normally. I haven't had a chance to try it again yet.

How can I beat the Mech bosses with only Palladium while he have Titanium?

Wow 5 years later and I just realized Yrimir cheated with life fruits. Either way he’s still good enough to kill them.
