You got 2 merchants because when you caught it,it similarly counts as dead and a new npc will spawn then if you released the other one you would have 2.I am not sure if this is the case depending on if you did release the merchant.
We need Catchers as an official class in Terraria ngl. Crafting stronger nets in the game will allow you to capture bosses that would fight for you until you get the Luminite Net, which lets you catch the Moon Lord himself.
making the destroyer split into pieces kinda makes it similar to eater of worlds which makes sense because due to terraria lore it's said that the mechanic was captured to create skeletron prime destroyer and the twins and she was almost done with mechanical brain of Cthulhu but we don't know what's the name but before she could finish mechanical brain of cthulhu she got freed from the player from the curse that was controlling her and it would kinda to make sense that a curse was controlling her because she would just say yes and fake making the mechanical bosses
Tip: if you kill duke fish Ron right after hard mode with molten armour and fury (armour because you can just about survive one hit) You can use his items to kill the mech bosses, which boss you kill depending on the item you get and boom you skipped the first hard mode ores

I just realized something while watching this playthrough something I never realized I did throughout all my player throughs I always fight the eye of Cthulhu first after getting some Hermes boots get both spiked accessories for when I get the goblin tinkerer get the shield from Cthulhu fight the eater of worlds a few times craft some armor and craft a new pickaxe as well fight skeleton after gathering some more much needed accessories and ores but only after I finish a hellevator beat skeleton loot the dungeon head to hell get around 800+ bars craft some new armor head down to an alter craft the night's edge and since I've more then likely got the goblin tinkerer craft some spectre boots and and find out what else I can make if I don't got a balloon find a floating island craft a cloud in a balloon get the star fury for future advancement make sure I maxed out all my health and have all the npcs I need before entering hard mode along with all pre hard mode ores and fish a little then make some arenas fight the wall of flesh hope I get the warrior emblem break some alters make Cobolt armor and get Cobolt pickaxe make a new anvil farm some souls of light and night fight the destroyer craft hallowed armor fight the destroyer again craft the Excalibur and fight him with the rest of the destroyer summons I have since I usually make around 20 summons each but the last one I craft usually only has 8 of em for some strange reason make a hallowed repeater after that because it'll then become necessary craft a new pickaxe axe mine some chlrophyte or however it's spelled and by that time I'll more then like have already spent time farming for turtle shells so I'll make turtle armor and fight plan- nope fight the queen slime since I probably have a lot of queen slime summons and then usually sell most of its drops if not all then I'll fight planterra then fight the golem a few times then I'll mine some more chylorphyte and make the true Excalibur and then with my left over souls make the true nights edge and then make beetle armor make the martians come to me get the UFO mount along with the summon fight dukefishron about 23 times god knows why get all the items I need but still not replacing really any weapons other then the summon then I'll get all the accessories I need to craft the best accessories bc i hate myself and love to give money to fairly reforge with the goblin tinkerer every five seconds after I craft a new accessories then I'll fight the solar eclipse craft the terra blade because let's face it before the moon lord or the lunatic cultist if you're using the terra blade you're bs around with darts or guns when the only good gun would take forever to grind and more then I'm happy to grind for stupid honing bullets that only really become useful after you get the vortex blaster so now that I've prepared everything beat most of the bosses I will then begin to absolutely dominate the lunatic cultist because if you get all the station buffs you don't even need potions even in master mode so after I beat the lunatic cultist I now begin to cry because after all my hard work of making the terra blade ok not really it's super simple and takes no time to make it is now useless after beating a few pillars and making new weapons and summons and now that you have everything you now most definitely need potions which I always have in a super large bulk so now with every imaginable useful buff in the game and whatever bullets I have left over from making turtle armor I now proceed to just fly away and if I even have a slight chance of taking damage teleport home and heal then just proceed to clap the moonlord cheeks

When you fight WoF in eternity mode in Fargo Souls, you get 5 divine and hellstine crates each. Opening these have a small chance of giving you hardmode ores.

This gives me an idea for a new class the companion class you catch them and then do something to or with them like feed them or something and they will fight for you but they will be able to take damage kinda like how every class has similarities between each other this would be a class similar to summoner but it wouldn’t require mana and other differences Perhaps the armor and accessories could increase the stats of the friendly mobs and bosses or increase the chance of catching them easier or perhaps different ways you interact with them like one armor set could allow you to give commands to them instead of following you and attacking enemies you could tell them to attack specific enemies or tell them to defend a specific place and another armor set could constantly heal them and buff them Accessories like that king slime drop that makes slimes friendly could be reworked to make you become the new king of the slimes and most slimes could become friendly and fight for you
