I've personally always done a gun-subclass playthrough for ranger so this was pretty cool to watch. I honestly forget other bullets exist cause I bum rush Endless Musket Pouch
Personally I use guns up until pillars because on console and pc you can target the boss with a key bind and you really don’t have to worry about aiming
Bro complains that guns are (supposedly) hard to aim but forgets that bows and rockets don't HAVE any homing (except Snowman Cannon). Being able to simultaneously aim and dodge well is an important part of Terraria, and the sign of a skilled player. Just because one subclass in the game gives you a crutch doesn't mean you have to use it (unless the gun in question is the Chain Gun, but that's its whole gimmick).
In my ranger runs I use guns for applying Ichor or cursed flames debuff since is easy to spray them, then I switch to bows where you deal more damage via quiver and venom arrows. I feel like an accesory for guns is needed, scope is good and i like it but in my runs it ends up as a stat stick for more dmg with bows, with an special gun accesory you could change it for the quiver and boost gund dmg and add it a property, I'm not sure homing on an accesory would be ideal I can see that becoming broken, probably with a condition or something that rewards skill.
I feel that there's a large progression hiccup after you defeat Plantera; You can fight Golem immediately afterwards and have access to pillar weapons within the span of thirty minutes. There needs to be more content and some re-balancing in order for guns to have a feasible use after Plantera.
Pumpkin Moon, Frost Moon, Martian Madness, Solar Eclipse tier 2, Post-Plantera Dungeon: That all rounds up to several more hours of time spent obtaining new guns, or ammunition types.
@@reiwhatever But we're totally fine with counting in several other _easier_ bosses that don't even bear half of Golem's mechanics and drops. Quit shitting on Golem.
@@reiwhatever If anything Chlorophyte bullets are one of the weakest in the entire game simply due to their extremely low base damage and no good applying status effect on enemies. If you can aim better than a Stormtrooper, it's way better to use quite literally any other type of ammunition, primarily one with higher base damage. High Velocity for example make it harder for you to miss because they're way faster than a regular bullet and provide decent additional damage, plus they have a higher base crit chance as well. Don't get me wrong, I love homing, but if that's the only way you can use guns, it just feels and/or sounds like you need to improve upon your aim. Starting with the basic understanding of how certain enemy AI behaves can help you better predict their movement and land hits. Unlike Chlorophyte bullets which just have a mind of their own and wont even prioritize the right target half the time. On the topic of skipping the grind proposed by Moon Events and Duke/Empress. If you're really just gonna go for overpowered endgame gear, you're automatically killing 90% of the fun from defeating those bosses and fighting those events. I understand there's definitely those people who still do it even if they aren't opting for a gunslinger only run, and precisely those people are the boring types of Terraria players. Also also, defeating those bosses and fighting those events are literally made to give you an easier time with the pillars. Some people just skip straight to the Lunatic Cultist and Lunar Events with whatever gear they got from or had for Golem and then complain that the Solar Pillar is too difficult. Sure the optional events and bosses might go unnoticed or are easily forgotten by the community, but I personally _always_ go for both the post-Plantera Moon Events and Duke and Empress, partially for the fun, but also for their useful equipment. (Apologies for the wall of text.)
@@reiwhatever Well I would consider skipping post-Golem/Plantera content not entirely worth, as you're simply making the game harder if you go straight for endgame.
Although there's quite a few guns in terraria, personally to me most of them also seemed especially generic, if you know what I mean. Sure they may differ stat-wise between each gun out there, but for a majority when you've seen one you have basically seen them all. I wish they had a bit more flair to them. Heck, magic has always been super flashy, and melee had a ton of swords get all these fabulous reworks, but guns are still especially generic.
I honestly disagree. Velocity and fire rate is enough to make each new gun obtained unique and variable than the rest, especially since fire rate can impact which ammunition type you'd opt for for each gun. That's just me though. Also Chlorophyte bullets are overrated, their damage is way too low. I did an entire playthrough with mostly just guns, never used Chlorophyte bullets and did perfectly fine. (Played on Expert Mode For the Worthy which rounds up to Master Mode stats, while keeping the FTW changes.)
As someone who has been saying that chlorophyte bullets are boring for years now: It is kinda funny how many folks will say "vanilla Terraria is too easy", but then also go out of their way to grind the best gear like chlorophyte bullets. Plus, if guns aren't useful without chlorophyte, the other 3 classes don't fare much better.
Hmm, how bout modification accessories? Bayonet attachment that acts similar to shield of Cthulu. Silencers that increase crit rate but fire rate is lessened. A Dual wielding accessory that increases damage at the cause of accuracy. Something like that.
Perhaps it's the playerbase, but what can i say. The only classes i've played so far (not counting minimal usage of weapons) are Melee, Mage, and ongoing Summoner.
Right now doing a single type of weapon only playthrough with my brother and friend, I picked guns only(meteor shots carried me through all of prehardmode) my friend picked whips only(R.I.P. to his low damage) my brother picked swords only, just finished killing destroyer on my own, I didn’t want to fight him without the others but he spawned naturally so I went underground into the underworld and he randomly died? Idk why
@@SpiffyEaterOfWorlds lol indeed, meteor shot underrated, it tore through wall of flesh and then after the hungries died I just used my star cannon, I used all of them up and I used my final star to finish him off, it looked epic
Kinda a problem, as it lowers the need for grinding and what terraria was made for, even if it is a huge qol improvement, also console players and mobile can't access those mods and not everyone can buy a good pc or laptop, thanks for the tip though.
Every class has its ups and downs Summoner you can be far away and still do damage but the damage isn't great Melee has a large hit box on its weapons which makes it easier to do damage and has pretty good damage but you have to be up close Ranger you can be far and do good damage but you have to be good at aiming and getting the bullets are the same as grinding for potions
@@SpiffyEaterOfWorlds aim lock is consistent for the most part and velocity isn't really that noticeable when the guns have a fast fire rate already also I would love to see a joke video about bows
personally i don't like Chlorophyte Bullet bullets because they are a clutch and it makes bosses drag on harder difficulties i am more of a bow enjoyer myself (ocugh cough tsunami cough cough eventide)
Dude please read description before commenting rude stuff its a satire video and the best bullets are either nanite, crystal cursed or ichor. I'm also a ranger main and I prefer bows anyway
