Fun fact: Brain of Cthulu, second phase, just dash. Doesn't matter the direction, it won't touch you. Just keep running that direction and be ready to dash each time it teleports.

Applying a visible debuff like “On Fire!” also gives away BoC’s position. Dashing with SoC is good because if you dash away, you get further away, and if you dash at him, you bounce back and deal damage.

There's a Russian guy who beat all vanilla bosses in terraria calamity with death mode on while using very little items from calamity mode with 1hp in ~2019(also, i think death mode was harder back then, but idk, just judging from what i saw). He still regards that as his hardest challenge, and he did quite a bit of challenges That guy is Obsidian Time, for those interested

This challenge is absolutely perfect for Summoners because we never had defence in the first place, so we died super quickly anyways. Plus having an army protecting you from just stray enemies at all times is so useful

If you were wondering, Deerclops's shadow hands will more often than not miss the player if they're standing on a platform. I remember this from a tutorial on how to cheese Deerclops

As presumably already mentioned. There ARE still "armor" options. Any armor that has a movement-esque option, or stat buffs, Maybe one of those armors that have a chance of "bypassing" damage, such as I think ninja armor, or some Old Ones Army, armor set provided with a dodge chance bonus.

You should use the /deaths command to show us how many times you've died at the end of each episode

Thank you for playing this on a softcore character. Every time I've seen any RU-vidr or streamer do a 1hp challenge, they always do it with a hardcore character. While that seems like it would be harder, I don't think it's the proper way to play because they never get very far in the progression. With softcore you actually have a shot at getting to Moon Lord, and the late game antics are where this challenge is at its most fun.

This is how it felt playing master mode as a summoner. During pre-hardmode i just decided to stop caring about armor and had invested all my accessory slots into movement. Too bad Duke Fishron's 3rd phase confuses minions...

Maybe use strange brew. Its a healing potion sold by skeleton merchant. If you drink it you might get temporary invincibility for 1-4 seconds, not much, but it will help. Also replenishes your mana.

Yeah, something tells me you're gonna need a lot of lava and walls so the enemies don't spawn during the boss fights.

A long ass minecart track is how I did eye of Cthulhu on no hit. Worked like a charm.

Imagine 1hp hardcore... crab bar attempted it a couple of times. Don't know if it's actually been done before....

A tip for when you fight BoC in a challenge similar to this later on: If you just poison or set the boss on fire in second phase, only the real one will have particle effects, thus giving it away

I’m pretty sure Deerclops is meant to be fought after skeletron, which is probably why it has so much health

for the deerclops it might've been easier to stay on the same level as him and dodge the ice shards, they have a pattern of: - 1 side long one: jump up near deerclops - 1 side long one: jump up near deerclops - 2 sides tall one: dash away from deerclops this would work better since no hands spawn and no ice cubes as well, and its only one type of attack so its easy to get comfortable with

This man is the embodiment of the word gigachad. Plays with 1 hp,on master mode, and when king slime basically cheeses itself, gungir forces it to teleport and says he doesn't want to cheese it. Spell it out with me. G-I-G-A-C-H-A-D

Awesome video!!! Congrats on the progress thus far!! Was thinking as I watched ‘if this were me, I’d totally allow cheating in the boss spawns’ and right after you mentioned doing so. Which totally makes sense. The unnecessary grind to even fight them isn’t really part of the ‘challenge’, that’s just a needless time-waste.

When it comes to the end of the EoC, the strat I've seen is to get far away from it beforehand, and use grenades to burst it down

If you can, get your hands on inferno potions, some projectiles have 1 hp like imp fireballs and goblin shadowballs, inferno helps to get rid of them completely, but i only used it in modded where it is easy to get inferno potions

I am equally as stunned upon seeing how Brain of Cthulhu got reduced to King Slime level. Dashing just looks so powerful.

It's my personal head cannon that Gungnir doesn't want us to see his legendary boss fighting strats... so that's why he 'forgets' shine potions every time.

This challenge was awesome because every time he had and insanely close call I’m always shocked and impressed and I’m always disappointed when he dies. Having to do not damage everything just makes it so much more engaging and fun

Something that's funny with the BoC on console (and I assume mobile) is that there is a little yellow triangle above enemies, which only shows up above the real brain.

id say on eye of cthulhu you could just build the platform a little higher and then that way when he dashes at you you can still get in chip damage and he wont be submerged in the ground

Fun Fact: There is a huge difference between having 1 hp and having 2 hp. If you have 1 hp, defence becomes useless but if u have 2 hp, defence become the most important thing because you can reduce the amount of damage to no less than 1, so if u had 2 hp you can tank all attacks equal to or less then your defence. 🙂

EOC last phase you have to predict his dash, the less hp the more agressive and at 300 - 100 hp where u were dying he just dashes so fast that u have to d-jump very quickly

Royal jelly actually being a good accessory for this challenge is pretty funny, It makes me wonder if they would ever add a similar accessory for bats

the platform grapple hook thing for king slime is my main strat, you dont need a very long platform at all, just enough to dodge at least 1 jump in case you mess up, less than a screen width of platforms is fine as long as you go back and forth, and all you need is a grapple hook as your only accessory if your timing is good

There used to be a glitch on my 3ds, where I started with 1 health and had to collect heart crystals to get the normal amount, and it was hell.

Since you can forsake all defense/hp related items you can go with the highest possible damage (maybe dodge), and mobility setup possible. Cobalt shield and upgrades are also no longer necessary as any debuff that deals damage means instant death... if you even live long enough to get the debuff. This frees up a slot for more damage, or higher dodge chance.

Deerclops's legs Don't have a hit box, so you can keep running under them. (He also wont use Shadow hands or fling ice chunks) 14:06

fire arrows and hellfire arrows are really good for the brain(in my experience) because it CAN get lit on fire which then gives the real one a particle effect

The "im mad at myself" with the one direction went the wring direction the first 2 times. But hey, thats a pretty good start to the challenge.

Looking back, this reminds me a lot of playing Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion. In that game you literally had 1 hp , because ANY contact with he enemy was instant death. I never thought about it that way.

For the brain of cuthulu all you needed was anything that could set him on fire. The real one would still have the fire on him when he teleports around and summons the doubles of himself.

Deerclops is funnily enough one of the hardest enemies for this playthrough his moveset is just really strong and the fact that you can't hurt him from far range makes you even more vunerable.

Gungnir: “I don’t want to cheese bosses” Also Gungnir: *proceeds to make the Deerclops arena in a way that prevents it from using half of it’s attacks*

For EoC noHit, Lightning Boots and pillars of platforms/minecart rails to grapple through and switch directions at either end of a long platform make it laughably easy, ofc you need Goblin Army for that

So I just wanna share some thoughts about boss patterns. 1. The eye's second phase is very controllable when you jump while it goes up, that way it will keep on going in an up and down pattern and will not dash towards you. 2. Deerclops has an easy to predict pattern when you fight him up close, he will spawn an ice wave on the side you are on twice and then spawn ice around his body. Not sure about the hand situation with this strat. 3. The brain in 2nd phase can be knocked back by mele weapons.

Fighting deerclops who has more health the WOF with pre-brain items was such a flex

This is the only challenge, where stuff that makes enemies friendly is ACTUALLY useful

Gung: how will I differentiate the brain from the clones? Me: Blade of grass dot makes the real one green!

summoner's gonna be absolutely perfect for this, because of the assistance dealing with mobs, the amazing thorn clearing of whips, and with summoner being the highest dps at many points of progression, in exchange for having lower defense... which means it's only an upside for this challenge if you find it too hard to dodge within whip range of the shorter whips like the snapthorn when whip stacking, hybrid ranger/mage with summoner will be the way to go, using only 1 whip then swapping to another weapon, even with only 1 whip it's still going to be more dps than pure ranger or mage

It's funny cause that's how I learned early on to do the brain fight easily. You just always dash in the same direction and he always ends up on the opposite side.
