An enormous number of people in Terrell commute to work in Dallas County. The morning/evening commute from Terrell to UT Southwestern, Parkland or the World Trade Center can be as much as 2.5-4 hours PER DAY. Highway 80 construction has begun and will likely last for about 18 years - literally! Also, 205 is about to go under construction and that will take 3-5 years and that's basically the only way to get to Rockwall/I30.
My sister was looking for a new home in Terrell but decided not to because she said everywhere she went she saw houses with confederate flags in the yard and trucks driving around with the flag EVERYWHERE. She’s a 4”11 asian lady and did not feel welcome
I don't know about poster, but I have been back since 2006. You are incorrect about the commute time, in a big way. Traffic is horrible. The biggest employer is the State Hospital. I would move away if I could.
You will lose your life on 80, everyday waiting in dead traffic for more reason...people I texas can't drive. Terrell has no arts or entertainment at all.
Hate, High property taxes, terrible high school, Bucees isn't for Locals, too many kids too few jobs. Noone really stays except out patients of the insane asylum
The s hook system is not horrible. You get out of it what you put in as a student. They have AP classes, robotics, trade classes, and JC classes. A good student can graduate with their associates degree! That's better than the other city schools in the area. The commute is a different story altogether, ut the schools are not bad at all.
It has always sucked. Bullying by race and class has always been an issue. Yes, I have heard the horror stories of my elders as well as been a victim. Check out the drop out rate!
The nedian home value is skewed by the older smaller homes. As far as newer homes go, you won't get much more for your money in Terrell than you will in any other city around. Builders are in it to make money, and their costs are pretty much the same no matter where they build. Land in Terrell is on par with surrounding communities. So building a new home in Terrell doesn't save much money. To me its a better place to live than Forney, Kaufman, or Wills point for different reasons, but to each his own. It's not perfect, but doesn't have the traffic that Forney or Rockwall has. Terrell Doesn't have the long commute that Wills Point has. It does have more commerce than Kaufman by a large margin however. Terrell, Kaufman, and Wills Point all have tremendous potential, if the growth in the coming years is handled correctly, and if the infrastructure is properly built. It's too late for Forney to correct these problems so hopefully the others have learned from the leadership mistakes that Forney has made.
