I took a piece of angle iron bolted it to the bolts that hold the lights on long enough to go above the lower ROPS drilled a hole for the pin and the ROPS doesn’t go down all the way.
I don't really want to drill into the ROPS but it might an option I will have to explore. Can't have it bouncing on the control box anymore. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
@@lawnBot No, just take a piece of flat iron and drills two holes in it that matches where you want the rops to be in position and simply use the pins for the rops. Just drilling holes in the piece of flat iron only. Not the rops. Put the flat iron in place using the pins and the holes for the rops that are already there to keep it all in place.
My 21 1723 did the same. I welded new homemade tabs and reinforced the bottom. No problems since. It's not a problem caused by the rops. It happens because that valve bank is heavy, and the tabs are weak as shit. You get bouncing down the road and that inertia of back and forth will eventually weaken anything. Mine had 50 hours on it when it happened, over 500 now with no issues.
It looks like Agco just put out a service bulletin for this problem, hopefully your dealer can do something for you. The bulletin number is 23-0014, the new part has wider mounting tabs.
I know there are times when the ROPS is in the way, but they probably expect most to keep it up for safety reasons. My first MF had a Woods BH on it, but traded it for a cab version (didn't use the bh at all). Cab is great in the heat and cold. Need more RU-vidrs with MF tractors.
I saw your video on all the tractor models and the Massey was on you recommended. You still feel that way, seeing the problems you had with it. Thanks for the information, very helpful
Definitely! I love the GC1725. The only issue I had was the housing on that backhoe control area and the dealer replaced it for free. I know now not to let the ROPS bang on it. I still believe that AGCO should add a pin stop on the ROPS though. That has really been my only issue with the tractor and that is something very small. I have not had any other issues with it. If I do, I will definitely share it on my channel. Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍
I have the GC1710 and the only issue I have is with the backhoe joysticks. The are endlessly coming loose. I have completely disassembled, cleaned and put blue Loctite but it keeps coming back. I want to look for a better system and modify the joysticks.
Good video. Thank you. I am sub compact tractor and implement shopping. I have watched any number of RU-vid videos about the merits of Kubota (BX23S); M-F 1725M; and John Deere 1025R. Each mfg has good points and down points. The ROPS was a good perspective. Did you find a solution to the bouncing ROPS that was not standing upright? Bouncing on the bracket is not a good design, certainly. Thanks!
Another commenter on this provided the recent bulletin that Agco recognized the issue and that they are offering a solution. There have been other suggestions on how to easily remedy this problem, but I have not had the time to test them out. Definitely not a reason not to consider the MF. It's a great tractor. I am very pleased with it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Hey how goes it, I got the older model, the GC1710. The GC series is a great tractor, and the new ones have some nice upgrades like the loader stick on the fender and tilt steering and stuff. But I will say I think Agco cut corners a little bit there compared to the old model. Like that backhoe controls enclosure, on mine the back end with the grab bar is welded on. Well anyways, it ain't a deal breaker, you got yourself a real nice tractor.
I called the dealer I bought it from. I don't have the part number because I tossed the box, sorry about that. Any Massey Ferguson dealer should be to help if you have a warranty claim. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Think that bottom should be designed like the top and be all one piece kinda like the top is designed. Why they would cut all that metal out and use those little brackets just a bad design.
Hopefully they are listening and can make the appropriate changes. Or like you pointed out in another comment, make the ROPS have pinned stops so it could be stopped in multiple positions.
personally i would take the top half of the rop off and leave it off. lights are mounted to the bottom half. im assuming yall are smart enough to not drive on a big slant with just single tires on the rear.
