I think what hit me as the main problem was when Sonny pressed really high up in the ending minutes and actually almost won the ball. One would believe that had this high pressing been done with a plan, Sonny or any other player would’ve immediately reacted to the result. However, all the attackers looked to be caught off guard by it and that screamed to me that this club right now isn’t playing with any plan in mind. Instead, they are mimicking what football looks like these days, and thanks to the talent level it sometimes works. When it doesn’t , though, disasters.

Always need to listen to you before I comment. I was there and all in cost me nearly £300 in all to go. My mates who have been to every away game have finally said enough is enough, they've given their wolves tickets away it's that bad! These players should reimburse all the fans who went up to Sheffield out of their own pocket as it was embarrassing. Spurs were so comfortable (all be it with absolutely no end product) in the 1st half we thought it would be an easy win.... Then the same old tosh happens 🤦♂️. This team needs to be broken up soon, I can't for the life of me understand how they cannot be up for a game like this?! The fans were amazing and were still singing after the goal... I can understand changes, even resting Kane, but it was the sheer number of changes. So annoyed. The gulf in understanding between the management team and the fans is actually quite breathtaking. It reminds me of Capello with England. They might as well be from Mars.

It’s 30 years from now…a weathered, grey haired Ali Gold opens up his 1765th video with a long sigh as Tottenham have been bumped out of the FA Cup 5th round by Barnsley… I wasn’t as mad as I thought I would be because of how familiar the feeling was which is sad in itself. Such a travesty that some of those Arsenal players may win a premiership title before Harry Kane even gets to lift an FA Cup.

Yesterday I did feel quite down, but then I realized it’s impossible to will the players and management into caring about the cup, we can’t want it for them. They either care about winning or they don’t, in this case they clearly did not (same for the carabao cup). How many times can they rock up to these championship sides thinking it will be an easy win and lose, I’m genuinely not sure who keeps telling these players they’re good enough to win just by showing up. Doing so once is a mistake, twice is a pattern, and this has been happening season after season. Thought the team choice was very arrogant, same with the the attitude on the pitch, and as usual, zero apology coming from the players. Did they even greet the away fans? A really sad display, but I genuinely couldn’t care anymore, because they brought it upon themselves. The better side progressed, and big up to them honestly.
For the first time in over 40 years, I need a break from Spurs. Football is so low on the list of priorities for Enic and Levy. Concerts, Karting and Helmetball seem to be more important money makers for them. So mentally tiring watching the same players make the same mistakes week in week out for the last 3 seasons at least. Nothing changes. Not good for my health.

Thanks for making the effort to put out this video despite you being clearly unwell - bit like the performance on Wednesday! TBH I felt beforehand that this was possibly going to be another opportunity for us to reinforce the Spursy reputation and, at least in this respect, they did not disappoint. We surely have to be better at Wolves and yes it’s strange that, despite everything, we are currently in a pretty good position league wise.

Since 1955 I have seen ever cup spurs have won I am now 72 and this team has no desire my best team is the 61 team they would have deten this team even given them with a 2 goal start I feel sorry for the fans that not seen spurs win a cup going to Wembley was a great feeling for me I just hope you fans have that great feeling at Wembley when spurs win theŕ

There's a big difference between rotating a couple of players in a game and 6 or more. Hardly surprising if they stop playing like a team. We keep making wholesale changes instead of rotating individuals. I absolutely do not understand why Moura was preferred to Danjuma. Moura is definitely leaving, Danjuma can score and we need a chance to evaluate him.

I don't know if it was in the financial reports but I've seen someone post the wage bill, and funnily enough the players who come in (Son, Perisic - with Son particularly not dropped due to form, and Perisic only lately) are said to be the two highest earners behind Kane. I'm wondering if that's part of the problem - the hierarchy. Lucas is in the next bracket down with Richy etc at 90k! Basically the wages seem to reflect more or less the order of the team/who plays, so it's not surprise that PEH always starts, and Skipp is next choice, and then Sarr (and these two only because of Bents injury). Danjuma is supposedly at 12k compared to, say, Lucas at 90k. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't being played even if he's a star in training so as to 1) not upset the apple cart and 2) get him to sign on low wages or 3) he really is struggling/useless! Imagine him playing and scoring a hat-trick, say compared to Sonny at more than 10 times the wages!
My view is that Spurs played a Championship team PNE in the previous round and won in a very comfortable fashion. So some of your players expected another easy match especially after seeing that Sheff Utd made 8 changes putting out a really weak team with all the best players on the bench. Also the cup is a distraction for Sheff Utd this season as we desperately need promotion so even our fans weren’t that bothered about winning because we have a difficult league game Saturday morning. So I blame your manager for not getting your players up for the fight…it’s basic human psychology really.

You summed up exactly what we thought about Danjuma v Lucas selection. Why don't we go with strongest team first half try and get 3 goals then make subs or at half time when not working send out 3 players? The inability of the Conte management team to make subs before 65/70 mins and just hope we'll improve is bonkers. Based on the last few years of history and the clubs out the cup I don't understand why the players weren't up for it? Are they really that arrogant that they think we can beat championship teams by just turning up? Sheff Utd with 8 players out and we barely lay a glove on them - we weren't even unlucky. 2 days on and I'm still really P*****d - they joy of the Chelsea win has just been wiped out.
@@greenlightwilly when he came on I think most Spurs fans knew he was going to scare our defence to death and either send in a stunning cross or get a very rare goal. The fact Wolves made 5 subs and changed formation and we just kept hoping the original plan would work shows the difference. Why do Spurs managers not try and make a difference with subs? We suffer from a lack of creativity, we have all season. We've gone from a team that used to score for fun to a team that literally struggles to score, especially if Kane doesn't play or has an off game. I see two issues, one is a mentality issue, our players still haven't gotten rid of the Spursy mentality in crunch games. Secondly our football has no energy, no zip, no verve and that's on Conte.
The fact is the club needs so much change but the board will not act because they simply do. not. care. I've lost all passion for this team for the rest of the season because our last chance at a trophy has gone and the reality is I couldn't care less about where we finish in the league because I know the board will only care about the profits they can make. The team needs a massive turnover, how many players have been here for 4/5+ years who have constantly let the side down in games like this? I don't care if players like sanchez and dier enjoy life at Tottenham, the fact is they are a prime example of players who are not at the level that match what our 'ambitions' should be. I'm disappointed because I looked at the team selection pre game and was happy as I thought there was enough ability to pull us through and I still think that. But the explanation for the defeat is purely down to a lack of effort which is appalling. As soon as the game ended I just thought to myself, how on earth do we expect Kane to stay on now? I'm truly worried for the direction of this club now and really struggle to see any positives.
Hi Ali. Great video. Thanks for your efforts. I was at Sheffield and the fans were brilliant. We were however disrespected by the club in it's attitudes. If the narrative is not to try in the domestic cups then I'm not going anymore. I went to Forest in the league Cup and thought that was bad but this was a whole new level of bad. Levy needs a PR scoop else the fan base will turn very toxic

About Antonio, I totally understand if he goes back to live with his family, he's had a rotten year and living alone in a hotel must make him depressed with all that's happened to him. It's good for him he could recover from his surgery with his family. About Sanchez, I still can't figure out what happened. He fell on the ground like a kid learning how to walk, he didn't slip I think, he just fell on the ground. It was so weird ! 🤔 Our defending was so poor again on the goal, no-one tried to stop the opponent, they all just watched him dribble, shoot and score, once again.............. One word to describe spurs is stale. It’s been this way since the champions league final and nothing has been done about it. You can change coaches all you want, but until you breathe life into the squad, you’ll keep getting the same results. I don’t even work in football but I know that.
Hi Alasdair Thanks for the therapy!! Here’s my conundrum. We regularly hear the talk of players wanting to win trophies and maybe moving clubs to achieve their ambitions. So what the hell was that all about the other night !!!
Thanks Ally for posting despite being poorly. That game perfectly exposed Levy’s principles for Spurs. He would have set Conte targets for the season, the priority being finish fourth. Everything else pales into insignificance. Conte showed by his team selection that he has bought into that 100%. I bet he’s on a massive bonus for fourth spot. The FA cup this year was up for grabs, but our chance to achieve glory was sacrificed on Levy’s altar of profit. Conte benched our four inform players to avoid injury and fatigue. That policy is flawed. Players will think two things 1) this game isn’t very important, and 2) ‘Why am I playing in a weakened team? Thats showing me no respect, why should I try?’ So consciously or unconsciously performance levels drop. At the highest levels a small percentage drop is fatal. Conte’s team selection was appalling. His substitutions showed his usual bad timing. His style of football is stupefying dull, and I’m fed up with him sounding like he’s doing us a favour being here. I used to be very supportive of Levy, but not anymore, I am done with him. His attitude to winning trophy’s being secondary to finishing fourth permeates down through the coaches to the players. He is the one constant through countless managers and a long trophy drought. His and Conte’s policy was nakedly exposed on Wednesday night. The fans were betrayed. I am done with them both after being highly supportive of both. I now intend to be very vocal in the stadium in the anti Levy message. Levy is never going to invest enough to win the League or CL, he’s not interested in cups,he will only ever invest enough just to nick top four (maximum return for minimum investment.) So fourth is going to be the pinnacles of our success, and we pay the highest ticket prices in the country for the privilege. Where does Levy and Conte’s policy leave fans? What is the point of going to cup games? The cup wins in 81 and 91 were two of the best days in my life, and under the people leading our club on and off the pitch I will never experience that again, and neither will my son. I am a season ticket holder since 1992 and am now very very anti Levy, and I want Conte gone too. PS I don’t expect a like, as I understand the position you are in Ally. COYS.
Well you get a like from ms Poch gave an interview after his sacking and said he achieved everything that was asked of him, finishing in top 4 If club are not interested in cup why not just go out in the 1st round
Big up Ali! Dedicated man! We need the same attitude among the players! This was a match to be won and they just didn't care I fear. We were once the record team as you say and now its unimportant. Only the PL and CL seem to matter to the club. It was winning the 1967 FA Cup that made me a Spurs fan. Its dispiriting. Truly great teams win both domestic trophies and PL and CL like Liverpool, Man Utd or Chelsea.
Why are everyone so down? We are a club to generate revenue, not to win trophies. Look at who we are competing with, mega billionaires, oil money and nation states. As long as Levy is gentrifying the area, hosting boxing concerts and F1 the future is bright to generate revenue and we probably won’t see it spent on transfers until we grow old enough to not be able to wipe our own arse. This is the club you deserve guys. When everyone was saying to rotate the squad for the match, the match where we have a shot in winning something. But Levy doesn’t want the FA or the Carabao cup, because winning one generates less revenue than winning one champions league game, that’s a fact.
I don't understand why we have to play a back 5 with 2 defensive CMs against a Championship team. Try a back 4 maybe for once. Not adjusting to games is annoying at this point. Adapt man.

Great video Ali...your frustration and desperation is almost palliative. Spurs seem to have this almost sadistic pleasure of raising our hopes...ie Chelsea....then dashing them against the rocks...ie Sheffield, in a matter of days. Is there one answer to this inconsistency, or are the reasons almost too many to think of.After all, these are talented players, and when everything clicks, they are unplayable...of course when it doesn't, they look worse than school kids. Is it possible that there are too many directions they are given, making it too complicated and when it goes wrong, it becomes a calamity.What happened to simple? The tactics are atrocious. No attacking patterns of play, no dynamic movement, no pressing until the last minute, no change of formation until the last minutes. Son really shouldnt be starting in that formation, take Kane out and there is NO number 10, no passing
Another weird Conte formation. Using Moura who has played no football this season. And Richarlison - no words for his negative attitude display. Him hitting the corner flag summed him up perfectly.
I also think the front 3 was never going to work, all too similar. All 3 of them are heads down and run at people-type of players. Just emphasises the importance of Deki and how he’s able to slow the game down and have the intelligence to bring another approach.
Completely agree Alasdair. That starting 11 should be walking that Sheffield United team, every other premier league team rotates against lower league opposition. This fundamentally proves that our squad isn’t good enough, it doesn’t come down to team selection, but you can argue that the coach’s tactics are to blame.
