I answer a question about COPD treatment with inhalers such as Spiriva or Symbicort (or others). Many of you may sometimes be afraid of taking inhalers for a variety of reasons. I try to explain why inhalers are useful in the treatment of COPD and why in most cases they are some of the safest medication you can have. An inhaler contains very small doses of medication which is inhaled exactly where it is needed (in the airways). Most of the medication does not even get absorbed in the rest of the body.
However some people may indeed have adverse reactions from inhalers and it is important to discuss any side effects with your doctor to clarify whether it is indeed the inhaler or something else. Always seek medical advice from your healthcare providers in a timely manner.
