Depending on the track, that might not be so simple. It's not like it's a bunch of loose potting soil out there, often it's compacted, hard, and sticky.
I realize it’s so easy to say but “Drop And Roll”. Another thing i thought of was for the driver or the competitor to grab a handful of dirt as well as the fellow competitor to both grab a handful of dirt & try to smother the fire 🔥 out. I actually just thought of this but you know those big fire blankets that you can wrap around yourself or even half the size of that & to maybe have one of those “Fire Blankets” mounted/placed just above the drivers head under the big wing & mounted with zip ties or to another spot convenient for the driver to grab because they don’t weigh much & that’s just a thought & may sound stupid but just a thought.
you have dirt, and mud. stay calm and cover that fire. jumping up and down is making it way worse. fire need fuel, oxygen, and heat. Eliminate one of those three things and the fire will die. letting the fire have more oxygen will allow the fire to get hotter and burn more fuel, like his fire suit. He probably did the worst thing you could do there, panicked.
Didn't help where the thing was parked up. He went over the banking of 1 and 2. The infield is where your crew sits. They have to follow a protocol by making sure its safe too
