Saw these guys (first) in Northampton on a joint NME tour with Coldplay. These guys were incredible and Coldplay were trying to be Verve-lite...............Great band.
Man, i just found the album cover but no CD. I loved that album. One of those weird moments in music history. The NME hype machine killed 'em dead for sure.
Like many people, my one and only encounter with this band came in the form of an NME cover from January 2000 with the headline "Idol Threat" and the singer pictured against a background of shots of 'legends' like Richey Edwards, Brett Anderson, Ian Brown, Bobby Gillespie etc., as if this Terris bloke was next in line. That was the first and last I heard of them... until now. Um... It's better than Gay Dad (who I also just listened to for the first time, having followed the "The Gay Dad Debate" in the NME and Melody Maker in the late nineties without ever actually hearing them). I'll just leave it at that.
This was my introduction to Terris...Fabricated Lunacy from Fabricated Lunacy. Marks a specific time in my life now:) Just a side note: anyone know the lyrics to "Lost October"? I can never quite dechiper them all
Loved this band, but I was SO disappointed by the album. Didn't they get Gil Norton in to produce it? It didnt sound anywhere near as good as the abrasive qualities of the first couple of EP's which were done by John Coxon (I think). The version of Cannibal Kids on the album was just so bland compared to how it sounded live and how it was on the EP. If I can dig out the single, I'll definitely upload it to RU-vid.
These were absolutely embarrassing shite, terribly over rated - caused a stir by appearing on the cover of NME because they had done next to nothing to earn it!. .One of the 60ft Dolls had something to do with them, he must have been out of his box to break up his band for this insipid dross. Glad they're largely forgotten now.
