Terry over achieved but not enough for the HOF. In his first couple of years they would say almost routinely in slow moments of the game that Terry Bradshaw had the lowest IQ of any starting QB in the AFC. Cruel of course but I heard it whenever the rare moment the Steelers were on in those years.
I lived with the Steelers, 1969 .... Bradshaw & Knoll came...It wasn't the best times for 5 years.... But lookout 74 & on ....They we're unstoppable!!! I'll always love the Steelers till the Day I Die !!! Thank You for all the Memories!!! GOD BLESS 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sady you need to thank Louis Reicke who within two years time with Steroids and how to use them with the right exercise got the Steelers to a Dynasty. In a league with the talent so close Steroids used properly gave Pittsburgh the advantage.
Young Terry Bradshaw might be the most underrated scrambler in NFL history. Everyone talks about Fran Tarkenton, Steve Young, Michael Vick, Lamar Jackson, etc. But damn...look at some of those clips of Bradshaw...that dude was an absolute beast to bring down.
Spoken like a Steeler fan boy. The numbers don't lie Bradshaw sucked in the regular season, was good in the playoffs and so so in superbowls, hardly a HOF resume. He was below average in his lifetime numbers at the time of his retirement. Terry got 4 rings blah blah blah,so do a bunch of other Steelers. To many are in the HOF and the first one TO BE EXPONGED would be Bradshaw, second Swann and Stallworth third. Don't get me started on how Noll hired the second best steroid guy because the First Alvin Roy was working with the chiefs and recommended Louis Reicke who was great at maximizing steroid useage and dosage and exercise that went with it. incidentally Reickie left after the Steeler Ram Superbowl and Pittsburgh never Won again with Noll. About 12 years drought for Noll.
The speech he gave at the end regarding Coach Noll took an acute emotional awareness many people will never have. I am happy that they were both able to have that peace before Coach Noll passed.
me lol I love his playing style and love watching him play but as a person I cant stand him. Even his apology was kind of like I get why you were an a-hole instead of admitting that chuck treated him with kid gloves.
@@mike-mz6yz ADD can make people do crazy things. PS That does hit too the idea he thought the crowd would boo him when he showed up at the Steelers stadium to be formally inducted into the hall of fame and was surely blown away from the cheers. Anybody who watches sports would figure that's the only likely outcome for a player who was a legend on a team, but kind of goes to show how much he was concerned about something that wouldn't happen.
He threw only with his arm. Never saw him really step into one and crank it 70+ yards. I want to see what a record breaking javelin thrower can really do.
The best days of the NFL. Those times are gone forever. This guy was a winner no question about it. The first guy to win four Super Bowls. I’m an old school Cowboy’s fan but this was football. Miss it Sundays were awesome back then.
I love how Bradshaw told Dwight White, "You can lose with me. But you'll never win without me!" And Dwight comes over after and is like, "What was that you said?" And the two of them together couldn't remember exactly -- but it had a nice ring to it, whatever it was.
I think Terry could remember the comment, even though it had a double negative in it--a bit of a mind-bender. Terry was dumb like a fox. He knew that he'd remain in White's good graces if he played it dumb rather than a wise guy, always pulling aces to trump the other guy..Terry was plenty smart--even when he chose to play the humble card.
Lifelong Pats fan admitting i LOVE this guy because he's real and honest and tough. Weight of expectations on his shoulders coming into the NFL and he answered the challenges. Kudos to Terry. You done good and keep on entertaining on Sundays. God bless ya!
He was 1 of the BEST.......U take the Chiefs QB .... Getting Millions & Millions of dollars, If they were paying that kind of Money back when Bradshaw was playing... I know for a fact....He would of made a Billion Dollar Contract 🏆🏆🏆🏆
No tf he wouldn’t bro let’s not lie to ourselves Bradshaw was good no doubt but Patrick mahomes actually deserved his contract lmao Bradshaw spent 5 yrs with 48 tds and 81 interceptions he’s lucky to even have earned another chance at starting for Pittsburgh
Bradshaw I can sit down with Marino/ Warner and say I never lost a Super Bowl 🍲. 😂 that’s priceless when Bradshaw said his favorite song 🎧 is Amazing grace 🙏. I said wow frank thought 💭 it was going to be a country song. That told me all I needed to know about Terry. A man of faith that’s what got him through those tough times. And me too.!! Congratulations 🍾 Bradshaw on your hall of fame career. And 4 Super Bowls. You are Jordan have something in common. You never lost a championship game. You can say that to him if you meet.
NFL films will never be the same again. I LOVED watching these when I was a teen and into my adulthood. Probably the most put together and watchable documentary series of all time
I feel the same way. Cowboys were given the name "AMERICA'S team", but that is something they NEVER wanted or asked for. I think that's why they are the most hated (and loved) team in the NFL. I've been a fan since I was 9, watched them practice in Thousand Oaks CA. Good times=)
I have great respect for anyone who can publically declare honestly that they were wrong . He was a great player but more importantly he is also strikes me that he is also a individual of quality.
Love Him or Hate Him. We In Pittsburgh Love Him. He helped Lead the Steelers to 4 Superbowls..The Last 10 minutes of this video Made Me cry..When He and Chuck Patched it up. Poor Southern Boy Never Felt welcome here till 2002. SAD..He Is Terry Bradshaw!
I was never a fan of Bradshaw growing up in the 70's-80's because I was a die hard, permanent COWBOY fan! As and adult, I realized just how great Bradshaw was. When you get older it's OK to give compliments, props to great players even if they don't play for your team.
That was the best part, along with the Love he showed for Mr. Rooney and the singing of the anthem back when things were not going so good for him he was belting out the anthem!!!
As a 48 year old man I was just a young kid watching the Magic that was Terry Bradshaw. I remember his last game against the Jets like it was yesterday and cheered so much on those 2 TD passes but remembering crying also when he reinjured himself knowing his career was over. Terry Bradshaw then and now will always be my idol, I admire his play and courage so much and cant get enough of these videos on him. As my dad will always be my hero Bradshaw is a close second.
He also struggled (and still struggles) with severe depression. While he and his people publicly refer to it as a simply depression alone, it's quite obviously manic-depressive disorder. The rarer type, in that he flips and flops rather quickly but usually stays quite positive and "manic" (and honestly, I don't believe that deserves quotations. He's quite manic, but in a wonderful way. And it's actually lovely, and makes him exactly who he is). Usually, manic depression is a slow boil to one extreme or the other. All in all, god bless this man, and god bless us for being so fortunate to be able to experience him via the mediums of professional football, movies, and presenting on television as one of the most iconic personalities ever. When Fox Sports had signed that deal with NFL, they had a completely new and different take on the typical kind of formal, boring, reserved, teleprompter driven recapping of statistics sports programming that was all America knew of at the time. And Terry was the PERFECT fit. Without him, there would be absolutely ZERO chance of that programming making it. He single-handedly completely changed the way sports were discussed on television. Bringing about more ad-libbed banter, and just a FUN approach to it all. And hell, it IS sports, after all. They're games. Games are meant to be fun. Thank you for attending my TED Talk. And THANK THE UNIVERSE FOR TERRY BRADSHAW!
@@JohnDoe-zq1ho depression of ones life they live ? People will say , but this person had what millions dream of having but never do .. this person had it all, why an how, can anyone be depressed in all of that? I think the answer is , in all of this world, an all it can offer? Peace , strength, love , along with any other positive gains u can have in life? It doesn't come from the world.. it comes from faith in a god u know inside that is real. U can never truly be at peace, an consistantly be strong without faith .. not a sermon here , just the truth.. may u an anyone that reads this, may u all have the peace in life that we all strive for..
I have great respect for anyone who can publically declare honestly that they were wrong . He was a great player but more importantly he is also strikes me that he is also a individual of quality.
The true measure of a man is having the ability to see and feel the truth. I am so glad Mr. Bradshaw was able to realize how much he has grown through his lifetime. An amazing athlete but more than that a man with a wonderful personality and sense of humor. We are all a contradiction in our ways and Terry now realizes that and takes responsibility, you can't ask for more than that. God Bless you sir!
Great story!! Cowboys fan here. Even though Steelers beat us on those two Super Bowls they were epic SuperBowls! Two evenly matched teams fighting it out. All those great HOF players on both sides on the same field!! Just amazing!! Love Terry Bradshaw’s story.
Sorry chum the Steelers lost to dallas in 1972 and Dallas had to wait until 1986 or so to beat them regular or post season. What they both had in common was a superior trainers who used steroids in their training and knew the right dosege and exercise Alvin Roy got the Cowboys their Superbowls with his program and Louis Reicke who was suggested by Roy who Noll wanted because of Noll working with him when they were both at San Diego of the AFL. Roy was with the Chiefs in 1970 after getting them a Superbowl so he had to tell Noll no. Later Roy won superbowls for Dallas.
Terry Bradshaw #12 will always be cherished in my heart and so many Steeler and non-steeler fans alike. Terry if by any chance you ever read this, I just want to say I respect you and everything you ever did for this Immaculate Team & as a very special Individual Person. Thank You all for this wonderful Documentary.
Mine too buddy I felt like I went through all those good times and bad times with him and the beginning as you know there was a lot of bad times and the way he handled it and the way he took it may be his biggest fan
One of the best interviews ever! Terry Bradshaw was so honest and sincere and he’s a class act. One of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, I’m so glad he made amends with the great Chuck Noll before he passed away (RIP, coach). And RIP, Steve Sabol, who was such a great NFL filmmaker, historian and interviewer.
I live in California I was 12 yrs old my dad ask what are you watching, am looking at this qb at Pittsburgh he is going to be great. Thank you for the great memories ❤️
He struggled early and if he played in today's game, fans would've asked for his release or for a trade, if other teams would trade for him. It just goes to show that patience and the willingness of a team to endure losing season after losing season will pay dividends. More often than not, players who struggle don't get back up but the owner had faith in him. In the end, he did succeed but he had to pay a price for it. Years later they reconciled and the rest is history. What a remarkable athlete, A great coach and a caring owner.
Tebow went 9-7 in his 16 starts. That's a whole lot better than Terry's first 16. Or Favre's. But he wasn't given the chance to develop like they were.
Bradshaw … the greatest Steeler! The fans will always love you Terry. You lifted us up after 25 years, you won us our first Super Bowl We all grew together. Thank You!
God, those Steelers were great…and led by a great QB. Strong as an ox. Love that man, courage of a lion. The Dapper Dan event in 2003 brought a tear to my eye, reconciliation is a beautiful thing.
as a Raiders fan from my dad following them and having a strong fanhood (the whole family) i gotta pay my respects to Terry and the steelers.. man is a legend.. !
Sports have lost their grit and drama. The commercialization just takes the drama out and truthiness out of it. Same with basketball when you see 80s and 90s NBA. Bird and Magic rivalry. It was just tough and real. Offensive. They didn't grab a beer with the other players they werent friends. Interviews just seem so proper and businesslike. No team loyalty. It's all shit.
I absolutely love Terry Bradshaw!! I've been a Steelers fan since the age of 10. I'm now 47. He is the reason I am still a fan. These clips take me back to the time when they were allowed to play football! The refs let them play. Not the sissy ass games of today when they blow the whistle before they hit the ground!!
One of the most overlooked aspects of Bradshaws greatness was that he called nearly all of his own plays from the field. He was a true field general and his ability to read defenses and adjust is legendary.
@@vulcan1429 Absolutely agree. You take any QB of the last twenty years and most would have selling insurance in five years after dealing with the defensive type of football back then. Crybrady would have lasted 8 or 9 years maybe. They didn't throw roughing the passer flags for touching a shoulder pad ! Lol
Wow. You know, for some reason I loved my Cowboys and Staubach. But now as an older man, I love Bradshaw. I mean everything about him. His sentimentality and wit, his earthiness and his determination to win. When Bradshaw got tough, the game was over.
Im a grown man, and Im crying like a baby watching this. Terry, has always been an enigma and a failure and a comedian and hero and most impotantly: a man. God bless Terry
I was 17 when Bradshaw was drafted so I have been around for his whole career and the sideshow that has followed. Despite a few idiots that booed him when he got hurt, all we ever wanted to do was to love this guy and to have him love us back. It's so great that so many of those 70s Steelers have stuck around and still get involved in Pittsburgh events. Most of us wish that Terry would do the same. He is a southern boy and will probably never want to live here full time, but it would be great to see him more than we do. All of the players and fans from that era are getting old and time is short.
Don Kellough He is. When I was just a kid, I witnessed how good he was. It was only a year ago someone talked about him, and I told them when he was on his game, there was no one better.
God bless Terry Bradshaw! He was a serious competitor in every aspect of the game. Back then Terry Bradshaw would have deserved a hundred million dollar contract. Terry playing For the Love of the game because he loved the game more than he loved the money. God bless you Terry Bradshaw in every aspect amen July 26th 2021
I can't tell you how many times you broke my heart Terry Bradshaw on some of them miraculous plays you made God bless you and you were something to watch
I hope you have quite a few years in you still Frank. With your chiefs team the way they are, you're going to enjoy the next few years watching football that's for damn sure.
My favorite player by far is Terry Bradshaw. No one could throw a deep pass like him. He had a rifle for an arm. Put him in a big game and no one was ever better. Those Steeler teams stack up against any team in any era. He is a class act.
Omg, I really didn't even care for football before, but now I'm starting to get it, this is impressive, I will never look at Terry Bradshaw the same again.
Growing up being a Dolphin fan.... Terry Bradshaw was the man. I never realized he suffered the way he did. He was a great QB and during his time he did what it took to make the Steelers. Thanks for all the great memories. Love watching you on TV even though I didn't win you money on FOX :) And yes you never lost a Super Bowl! Job well done
i’m a woman, never played ball, couldn’t play sports as a kid due to asthma, couldn’t watch football on tv because my mom thought that was for the boys, but there is something about these stories that reach into the core of me. Every one of these Football life stories has some strong part that feels like deep life lessons I can relate to.
Loved your comment!! We lived in a different time back then!! Very family oriented..... and you could run and play without fear. I remember the worst fear I had was getting in trouble from my parents!! Ahhh the good old days!! Montana Rick.
Terry Bradshaw, my favorite QB of all time!! When I was 11 years old, my parents bought me a Steelers jersey w/his name on it that to this day I still proudly own!! I'm now 51 years old. Also, Terry came to speak at my high school back in 1983( I was a freshman) & he was drinking Coca Cola from a bottle but didn't finish it. When he left, my brother who was a senior at that time, snuck in the auditorium, drank the rest of the soda & kept the bottle. I do believe my brother still has that bottle to this day.
As a fifty year steelers fan I miss the days of Bradshaw. Of course I miss all the players from that team. Not just because of the super bowls but because it was different in many ways. To many cry babies now and most wouildnt be able to play now days. Terri is tough honest and a hard nose football players. Brady would not have made it through the first Bradshaw's first season. God bless you Terri thanks for the memories.
I remember Terry's struggles, and hardships. But what I remember most (besides his ultimate success) is that he was the toughest football player I had ever seen! I saw Jim hazlett (Bills linebacker) unintentionally spike Terry in the head when his helmet came off while he was being tackled, I think he was out a play or two and came back in, after they patched up his bloody skull he won the game. Cleveland's Gigantic Turkey Jones, picked up Bradshaw after the play, and slam dunked Terry head first into the turf, with his neck completely bending and his body crushing down on him! I saw this on TV and immediately I said "he's dead"! But moments later he got right back up and I believe we won the game. I could really go on, but Terry bradshaw really wanted to win, he poured his heart & soul into the game, and as you know the rest is history!
After reading a couple of bios of him decades ago, I came to admire him greatly as a man. His being small town and all the struggles he went through until finally being the first 4 time SB winner. I say this as a Browns fan.
I did...he made a comment to a reporter one time even after Terry winning four SB. He was asked about Terry coming back(terry was hurt at time) and Noll said, and I quote... "Terry who?" ...total disrespectful. Noll was an a hole truth be told.
As a life long RAMS fan i must sat Terry Bradshaw is my favorite all time quarterback because he is awsome. Did anyone else notice that during the national anthem he was singing. They dont make them like him anymore
Bradshaw called his own plays. No speaker in his helmet. 4 Super Bowls victories. Great when it mattered. Called the plays that kept their great offense moving. Bradshaw called the plays to give the ball to Franco; called the plays then delivered the ball to Swann & Stalworth. To do this and win 4 Super Bowls deserves mention among the greatest of all time.
@greg garner Yes, the league is much more balanced. You never know who might go to the SB, there are different teams there pretty much every year. You can support your team, because they actually have a chance to win a game.
Your comment makes no sense, you write the pro game was hardly better than the college game, but was filled with Super teams? Look at the teams in the 70's that won a Super Bowl; Bradshaw/Noll(HOF) Staubach/Landry(HOF) Stabler/Madden(HOF) Griese/Shula(HOF) If you think for 1 second a college football team could play with the Cowboys, Steelers, Dolphins or Raiders, you're beyond delusional
I hope we live long enough to look back and appreciate the people that pushed us to be better. Terry Bradshaw is truly a wonderful soul. Favorite song Amazing Grace!
Terry was one of a kind. I love watching him on TV now. He has fun and still remembers the little boy within his spirit and that is the way he played football. I love his quote about today's quarter backs that get a fowl on the field. Terry said. "I think they just should put a skirt of those guys." Love ya Terry. I would just like to spend a weekend with Terry, it would be one great two day fun with this guy and lots of laughs...
Terry Bradshaw is and always will be the BEST QB Pittsburgh ever had. I'm a life long Steeler fan and no disrespect to Big Ben but when you win 4 Super Bowls in your career then you can hold a candle to the man.
Terry Bradshaw now admits that he is having trouble with his memory and even on the Fox NFL pre-game shows he helps co-host he has trouble concentrating on the teleprompter cues. Its likely the many concussions he had playing football have taken their toll
This was a great video about Terry Bradshaw. I will always think, to date, but still... he was or is the best QB in the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers! It's all about winning.... winning championships and making your teammates great.... and he did it under heavy adversity. If the media then was kinder to him then, he would have been seen today with "brighter eyes" from the younger Steelers fans who only see what they want to see, and that's ok, but give this man his due. He earned it.
This special has so many lessons for so many people. Thank you for uploading and sharing. It is amazing how the passage of time teaches and matures a person.
As a kid growing up in Uniontown Pennsylvania we would play football in the street or at the Honor Roll. Always wanted to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. I'm a Steelers Fan and Always will be till I die. Wish we had that Team now and Chuck Knoll was Our Coach. The Steel Curtain
Wow, just wow. Growing up with parents from PA and watching the Steelers and Bradshaw made this so real. I can't tell you how much it means to watch this and see the humanity of Bradshaw portrayed in such a well done story of anger, hurt and redemption. Hats off to Chuck Knoll for having the heart to accept Terry's apology. Great job telling the story of a man who is open enough to share his feelings, good and bad. Thank you.
Just a great man! Got into an elevator at the then Four Seasons Hotel DT Seattle. Couple of floors down in steps this guy, I knew him from somewhere....he kept staring and his grin kept getting bigger...I just couldn’t figure him out, he finally yells out with this great laugh, “Yea..it’s Me!”.. the laugh did it, my hero!! The still Great Bomber!
