Terry had an amount of vulnerability that most are not comfortable sharing with one person, let alone a whole audience. He is a treasure of a human. awesome podcast.
Do they address his pornography addiction? If not, that would’ve been a great opportunity that was messed. Since so many men are struggling with porn, pornography addiction.
They both are excellent at explaining things and making observations. The addiction thing of “you’re watching 2 hours of Robert Downey Jr NOT do coke” was so on point
Neal is such a great interviewer. I really like the premise of this podcast and how open his guests are willing to get with their struggles that you don’t get when they’re promoting something on the normal media circuit. Makes one feel less alone in the world. Also terry crews has an incredible story to tell great guest always root for him
Especially opening up about his porn addiction, which is a bigger problem than is talked about. I think the 24 /7 access to porn is ruining men when it comes to dating
WoooooooW. "the NFL is like prison with money" Jesus that hits home. My dad was both a football coach (Not the NFL) and a Correction officer (Brooklyn House of Corrections). He was a terrible person, and this story really resonates.
Special and incredible. Wow. I'm floored. Terry has got to be the warmest individual in show business. Beautiful interview. Wish my uncles could see it.
This is the best episode yet. I loved literally every minute. Even rewinding to hear stories & life lessons twice or three times. This one is gonna sky-rocket every other day. 🙌🏼 Thank you so much.
Terry Crews as Chris’s dad is my absolute favorite role he’s played. One of my favorite characters of anything I’ve seen ever. Delivery was perfect, every line hilarious and his chemistry with the entire cast was an impeccable fit. How he had doubts about that role blows my mind. I still quote him from that show constantly.
He had the perfect mix of being funny and wild while being totally grounded in reality. Fantastic performance. Crazy he had heavy imposter syndrome at the time.
Neal is brilliant. Hilarious, great standup and thoughtful interviewer. This has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. Out of the thousands of podcasts this feels so fresh. 👏👏
When my band was popular a long time ago, we played a late night show, and Terry Crews was the guest with us. He was incredly kind to us as soon as he walkedi nthe door and had an energy like very few people ive met. This interview just confirms everything I already knew. This guy is fucking awesome.
I haven’t commented in a while~ but I just had to say- *You are a hero Neal.* This podcast will go down in history as one of the most brilliant and healthy podcasts of our generation. ❤😘👍
This was by far the best BLOCKS episode I've seen! Props to Terry and Neal. I feel like Neal was more comfortable and loose, joking around and laughing. All in all a therapeutic experience for all.
Terry seems like the kind of human being who not only strives for growth, but thrives through growth. He comes across as a beautiful soul. Sending him and his family an abundance of prosperity and love ❤️ Thanks for being willing to share so much of yourself Terry!
My goodness, what a story. I fell asleep - as I usually listen to podcasts late at night - but this one is going on my Watch Later list. Gotta hear the whole thing! I've always loved T Money 😁
Terry! Such an incredible dude, and probably one of the best examples of *proper* masculinity. Dude is jacked, and takes care of what needs to be, but has bona fide emotional depth, and a variety of intellectual pursuits.
God this series is so damn good. Definitely my new favorite podcast. Neil is funny, clever, smart, and a fantastic listener and interviewer. The guests are fantastic and the topics are so gripping and relatable. Also, the occasional video/sound edits are hilarious.
I've always been a fan of him because of Brooklyn 99, but I wasn't aware of his story. It's truly inspiring in so many ways. I now have a newfound respect for him because he's honest about his fears and mistakes, learns from them, and demonstrates that you can embody masculinity without sacrificing vulnerability and kindness. 🙌 And of course, mandatory thanks to Mr. Brennan for being such a good host and bringing in so many great guests. One of my fav podcasts ever. 👏👏👏
"demonstrates that you can embody masculinity without sacrificing vulnerability and kindness" WOW! Yes, he absolutely does this and it makes me happy there are men like him (and my husband) for my three boys to look up to ❤ But also.... NINE NINE!!!!! (We're a B99 loving family 😂)
This is such an honest conversation. I feel like I was watching two dudes become friends just by sharing. I love it! I wanna (and probably will) see it multiple times. Thank you for making it happen, Neal.
I've always loved and admired Terry -- this interview made me love and admire him even more. Such a tough childhood! He's right, Carol Burnett and her team touched us all. He's such a great, down- to-earth guy!
This was a joy to watch, Terry is a great guy and it's great to see someone like him be vulnerable and open about his issues. I resonated with a lot of his blocks, especially using porn as an escape. I kinda feel that's true for a lot of people. Great job Neal & Terry! 👍🏻👏🏻
Neal Brennan rolling out the big dogs! Thoroughly enjoyed this one! The blocks is bar none my favorite podcast atm and have seen every single episode so far!
The messed up thing is, that's how some of us were "taught" to swim. There was a famous lady in Clear Lake City, TX, who there is definitely some old video out there of, from when the local news would cover her. She threw us in the water and it was a sink or swim thing. I'm 46, and I still can remember the fear. I can swim, go in the ocean and all that stuff, but I've never been a strong swimmer. Swimming has always felt like survival rather than fun.
Terry should have a show where he talks to mental health experts about different issues called “ You See What I Mean?” He said it about a hundred times during this and every time I thought to myself, I do know what you mean Terry.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode so much!!! Thank you both for being so transparent and especially you Mr Terry Crews. You are really helping people. And you should be proud of the progress you have made. Be blessed.
This thing on being well prepared and dealing with non-prepared people, you're often looked at like a control freak. And maybe you are, but it's like an addiction. You can't not be prepared or everything falls apart in you.
Terry is one of those guys where you see him in films and he's so hilarious and joyous and talented. Then you hear his story, see how he treats people, and it's impossible to imagine a more worthy person of the success he has earned. He truly is a national treasure.
Terry allowing his children to lay into him is phenomenal and also says he's not exactly a narcissist because true narcissists would never be able to handle, nor ever want to hear, any criticisms. I try to critique my father in the most minor way and his head explodes.
*Holy trauma (literally)! Damn, Terry. The empathy drips from my eyes as ya described the abusive upbringing. I'd wake up horrified hearing horrible things like that @ 5-years-old. & Neal I'm sure could relate w/some parts too! Relieving that Terry channeled some of that into strength. Gotta invert negativity.*
