The band was kind of a joke until Philip came on board. Third rate hair metal and that's being generous. There's a reason why these albums are out of print, The brothers were ashamed of them and don't want any part of That era, understandably. Imagine the alternate world we'd be living in had they not run into Metallica when they did and replaced Terrence?

Rubbish, they were better than all of the more popular 'hair metal' acts, younger as well, hardly 'third rate'

Bubba, you obviously have never spoken to either brother, or Terry. Vinny & Darrell both have never been "ashamed" of those albums. For that time period, those records were killer. It's a bit funny to hear all you millennials talk shit about a time, a band, a genre, a f*@king lifestyle that you clearly know absolutely nothing about. And anyone who puts Anselmo on a pedestal, is probably doing the same kind of dope that got his dumb ass kicked out of the band to begin with.

@@nikki78225 I can’t say with certainty that they did. But some of the riffs that are on Power Metal are similar to what Dimebag would play during his solo. He would play bits of riffs interspersed with his shredding that sounded similar to some of that album. I wish I could be more specific.

Never got to see them with Terry. First time I saw them was day before the Texas Jam in 1987 at Savvy's in Ft Worth. He was driving a little shitty yellow Honda. Lol Good times.

@fullinbloom

Yes. Soon after Phil joined the band, at some point during the show, Phil would leave the stage and Pantera would jam as a 3-piece with Dime on vocals. They would always dedicate the song to Terry. I probably saw them 50+ times in the clubs once Phil joined, and they did it every time.

@@fullinbloom I remember in a Metal Forces magazine right after Phil joined, Dime said something like "its a lot better now that we don't have a total fag for a singer". I also seem to remember the line "Its a dirty job Creedence, but somebody had to do it" from Down Below being a shot at him too, I've seen a few times where Terry would sign his name as "Creedence" and heard that was his nickname back then. I met Phil a few years ago and he said he did all the vocals for Power Metal in one take. Did they ever do Terry songs with Phil on vocals back then? I've only ever seen them do Right On The Edge with Phil
