Especially in a specialised ship like the Vermont. You effectively can't even target cruisers at long ranges, but are limited to BBs, making compensating for your team's mistakes really difficult. That's actually one reason I like playing cruisers. I often value the ability of being a "jack of all trades", and utility to pull situations out of a tight spot, over things like raw damage output. Your comment actually got me thinking of how I'm rating ships when I do reviews, and I think I'll need to do a video about that

@@FunandGameswithTerry Yep, actually going down Des Moines and Zao's lines now after 2 years of my motto "not touching cruisers". My worries are not the ships, but rather my ability to support cuz I feel like I'm better at dishing out damage than supporting my team. 🤣 I think you've already done an epic job with each conclusion, but if you're going to add extra info specifically for the ship, then I'm all down for that.

It's a nightmare scenario in a ship as specialised as the Vermont. Only thing worse could have been if we had a Shima or two.

Yeah, this was a coincidence that we both ended up recording the game, and facing each other. Fun to join the pieces together, and also to see the ship I was testing from the opposite side. Sheesh, those AP full pens...

I honestly haven't looked at stats in ages, but that's a good point, especially if it gets brought up in discussions for the purpose of size measuring contests.

Oh, so that's what happened last night. I was shooting at a destroyer with my Königsberg and I scored a hit and a red number showed up, I thought "Hang on a minute, I thought destroyers don't have citadels", and yes, I didn't get any citadel badge

HE spam, in most cases (with the exception of broken things like Smolensk), is a result of careful positioning and bad choices on the enemy team's side. Had the enemy Worcester, who's a hard counter against destroyers, not chosen to completely ignore their duty and try to farm battleships, or had the Zao protected their left flank, instead of sailing right into the centre areas killing zone in the first minute, this would have been a very different battle.

For tier IX and tier X destroyers, AP is more effective than HE. You could get for four or five full penetrations if you aim well.
