Nice to see Terry who is a legend in his own lifetime from the St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band in Dublin (former World Champions and the biggest threat to any band attempting to win the Worlds each year) playing the exact same pipes as me, so I can appreciate their superior full sound. Love this sound and steady tone.
Bob - I'm looking to listen to the March called "Highland Brigagde at Tel-El-Kebir. I know that Seaforth Highlanders played that in battle but I'm not sure if its on a video, and if so, which one. I know Bagpiper Scott plays about 20 seconds of the piece on one of his videos but I'm looking for the complete March. I'm also trying to figure out who originally composed HB at Tel-el-Kebir. I have some sheet music of that March which says PM J. Cameron on the upper right hand ... I know he didn't write it.. so I'm guessing that music was used at of his events. Any help appreciated. Thanks!
Hello Albert - apologies for the very late reply (only just seen your message). The 6/8 tune is in Scots Guards Collection Book 1, and it has P/M J. Cameron of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders as the composer; but, that, at the time of the battle, he was probably a piper in the HLI (Highland Light Infantry). Try listening to Neil Clark, playing the tune on the practice chanter: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qWbsKOXzwM8.html - "Scots Guards 1/101(Tune 97) The Highland Brigade at Tel-El-Kebir."
