This was the first band I ever saw live! Tesla opened for Poison at the Von Braun Civic center in Huntsville Alabama when I was just barely 17 years old. I have always loved this band! I am now 50 and still regard Tesla as one of the best bands ever!
Frank Hannon is one of the most underrated guitarist of all time. If you're getting your kid into guitar. PLEASE show them some Tesla to hear some good CLASSIC ROCK N ROLL!
Always been a huge Telsa fan. Frank Hannon has been a hero of mine for 30 years... Damn... Dave Rude looks like he's having so much fun!!! He's killing it. Glad to see them on the road, and Jeff hasn't lost his vocals. Excellent recording. Wish I was there!
I live in Huntsville and was supposed to go to this concert. Unfortunately I was in the hospital with COVID Pnumonia and couldn't make it. Couple days ago I bought a new 85" tv and this concert looked great! Whoever filmed this, you did a great job! Tesla stills puts on a great show! Totally underrated band!
Mechanical Resonance is one of the best albums...definitely one of the best debut albums by any band I was fan of....When I actually played the guitar it was one of the albums I learned almost every song on....I dont thinks theres a bad song on this one.
One of the two most underrated bands to come out of California. Tesla from Sacramento and Y&T from the East Bay. Great tunes, times, and memories!!! Dave Rude kicks ass but I do miss Tommy Skeoch. He always brought the hard edge in the songwriting/ music composition. Thank you for uploading this concert!!🤙🏼
Every band is underrated. So is every guitarist. Every drummer. Every singer. Every keyboardist. Don't believe me? Start reading RU-vid comments. Some people have nothing better to add than to tell us how underrated a band or artist or player was. EVH. Peart. Hendrix. Someone will tell you how underrated they were. These guys were huge in their heyday. Underrated was the last thing they were.
Busta nut goes gold Geffen says heat you guys take a few YEARS off grunge's COMMING AND MY FAVORITE GUY IS EDDIE VEDDER IN SOME OTHER GUY ALICE IN VEINS NO DEFINITELY THAT'S BULLCRAP STUFF AIN'T THAT RIGHT BRIAN WHEAT DAM GOOD BASSMAN Y'ALL

@@satinwhip that's not true I'VE heard people say or talk crap about Eddie's just a tapper no soul etc and Hendricks just feedback it's just he was loud not that good people always talk shit Thay got to feed there own ego when Thay try to play something 🔥 hot 🥵 ya know ?
I’ve seen Tesla many times, especially during the 80’s. My absolute favorite show was in February of 1988 when they opened for Def Leppard on their Hysteria tour. The stage was in the center of the arena instead of being at one end like most concerts. Everyone had a great seat.🤘🔥👊
Jeff has such a unique voice, I remember seeing them on their first tour and thinking how long he can sing like that ,well here he is 34 yrs later , still sounding great,
All I know is Tesla gave every single drop of their blood, sweat, and tears, and heart's, and souls for their fans! First met them at Skip's music on Arden Way in Sacto in 1981, or 82, . Man, what a band, what a beautiful group of people! Thank you so much Tesla! Bitchin performance~ \💜👑💜/,
oh yes Skip's music I bought my first marshall and epiphone les paul there I've got a Gibson les paul now but I've heard good things about the newer epiphones now that Gibson has a new CEO that actually is a guitar player.
Tesla was and is so underrated…Jeff Keith has such a unique voice and the guitar melodies and solos are right up there with the best. Obviously still rockin’ hard to this day…great show!
Funny Story. My Friend Mike was like #1 Tesla Fan. We were on his porch playing guitar. Looked down the street. He said look it’s Brian Wheat and Tommy Skeoch. I said yeah right, in Kenosha. Lol Come to find out, I convinced him to not go down there. Brian Wheats cousin lived here and they were helping him replace a broken porch window, before heading to Alpine Valley to play that night.
From Hochatown ,Oklahoma with love 💘 Tesla still Rock and Rolling 40 yrs later !!!! One of the greatest bands ever !!! We love you guys , and a Big shout out to Jeff Keith !!!❤
Fuck they still sound great man ! I taped them opening for at the Providence, RI. Civic Center on 1/16/87. It circulates on the Internet from my master tape, check it out you won’t be disappointed !
JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY... WHERE WERE YOU STATIONED...I LIVED ON FT CLAYTON FOR 9 YRS. YES 191ST INF. BGD. BLD. 519 WAS MY HQ. AND BLD 95 MY REC ROOM. EGADS. NOTHING LIKE TAKING A CHIVA BUS THEN A TAXI THEN A FEW MILE WALK TO AMADOR OFFICER CLUB OR THE SETUP BY THE CANAL. TRUTHFULLY IN MANY WAYS PANAMA SUCKED. BUT THE BEACHES AND THE DISTRACTIONS WERE GREAT ...! SCN AFRTS... . IN ANOTHER REALITY TESLA IS BIGGER THAN G.N R...WORD ONE ABOUT IT.
No computers, no pitch correct, no backing tracks, just a real group of musicians who can actually play their asses off! They are all great! Super tight and in the pocket... Props ;-)
I’m 44 , got Tesla first album on cassette cause I had read that Nikki Sixx was a big fan of the band . I still have to say , We’re No Good Together is one of the best vocals of the genre . Oddly enough I’m watching a new Paramount show ,,, Mayor of Kingstown and during a strip club scene, they are playing it . Thanx for being a great band and the memories … it’s getting better every single day .
Omg! That is definately one of my top 10 of Tesla's! Im glad you feel that way. Sounds funny talking about my old 8 tracks, then cassettes. I think I owned & bought only one record and that was Tom Petty & The Hearbreakers! Lol!!
I will never forget seeing them open for Def Leppard in 86 and they opened with commin at ya live … i was blown away and been a huge fan ever since. This is a great video. Too bad there were not other cameras .. Thanks for posting.
Dude! Same! That whole "in the round" thing. I went for Def Leppard, but they sooo outclassed them. I had saw the ads in the magazines but hadn't heard them yet. Pretty much forgot about DL after that. I only listen to the first 3 albums anyway. Saw them at the Omni in Atlanta. Also got fired from my grocery store job for going to that show.
thanks for putting on ,big fan of band ,saw them live opening for Def Leppard IN 87, opening fo scorpions in 2012 , opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2021. kick ass Rock n Roll bang
Jeff kept that growl in his voice. He's 63 years old and still sounds fucking amazing unlike other singers: Vince Neil, Axl Rose are two that come to mind immediately.
Correct !!! Axl and Vince do not rock like they use to or sound as good anymore !! They are legend but lost their voice years ago ! Keep it Rockn Tesla !! 👍🏻
Thanks for this upload. My 1st time seeing these guys, they opened for David Lee Roth, & I never heard of them at the time! Been a huge fan ever since, & these guys are humble, down to Earth, & great to the fans! My last show I saw them was when they were touring with Styx . I was singing along with every word, & JK noticed my enthusiasm! He spent alot of time on my side of the stage in direct eye contact with me as we sang together! Thanks JK! I'll never 4get that! My nephew was standing next to me & noticed too! Best show of my life!
Wow!.....Very impressed by this show, may even be better then when they were younger. Better than any of these newer bands for sure!...........Keep kicking ass Tesla!.....WoW!
In the summer of '87 I was home in DFW my on first leave after going into the military. My buddies and I went to the Texxas Jam. None of us had ever heard of Tesla before but when they went on stage they blew everyone away. They were the best band there and it wasn't even close. Been a hard core fan ever since.
LOVE SONG brings back a ton of memories and emotions! I was at Cal Expo when they filmed the video. It was such a good show. I used to always try to find myself in the crowd when I watched it. Never could LOL I remember Great White opened the show. Such good times.
Shame this wasn’t professionally done. Still Killer. But to hear Jeff’s voice better would have been Awesome. Kudos to the person that recorded this. AWESOME JOB.
His voice was always a bit “raspy” , but after watching the entire video, can see shades of his past. For 63, he’s still doing pretty good! Much better than Coverdale, Elliott, Neal, etc.
@@geoffreymiller5422 I like your comment, but I think J. Puckett was talking about the audio quality of the video. I also wish that this was professionally done. Video is an A+, but audio is a B-. Happy that we get to experience it at all!!! Much love to Tesla!!!!
I agree although for me, by the end of the video it either got better or I didn't notice as much. But yeah Keith's vocals were low. Also, I don't think it was the person who recorded the video but it was the actual person mixing the sound at the show.
The 2 “opening bands” that were jaw-dropping and I went out after the concert and bought all their music, were Tesla opening for Def Leppard and Sevendust opening for Creed, both in Spokane. My Tesla playlist is one of my favorites that gets played OFTEN!! Thanks for posting this, brought back a TON of excellent memories. 🤘🏼
First time seeing Tesla was when Mechanical Resonance was released & they played with Badlands & Great White here in Florida...Damn good concert!! Glad to see they're still rocking & looking forward to seeing them again in February
First off, great job with the capture. Video and audio is really quite good 👍 Whenever I see one of my favorite hair bands from the 80s playing in the modern day, I always start watching with a bit of trepidation. Mostly because it’s really, really tough to replicate the way they played in their heyday. Those guys were singing at the top of their range and doing things with their voice that just weren’t sustainable. So it’s only fair to expect that they won’t sound *exactly* as they did 30+ years ago. But Tesla…they’re still crushing it. Musically as solid as ever and out there doing what they love. And by all accounts, they sound MUCH better than some of their other 80s counterparts (GnR, Crue, etc.) whose sound has really deteriorated over the years. I would seriously consider checking out a Tesla show if they came through my area. The only thing missing would be my head of hair that was so full back in the 80s! 🤘🤣
I was living in Belgium at the time. The summer of 1990 I heard Love Song for the first time and bought The Great Radio Controversy shortly after. While I was really captured by that ballad I was blown away by their hard rocking chops. Later they came out with Five Man Acoustical Jam and that was constantly on the playlist at the pub I used to work at the summer of 1991. I really regret not seeing them when they toured in 1992 on the Psychotic Supper tour. Always been one of my favourite twin guitar attack acts a la Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, AC/DC vein. They are not and never were a hair band. They are just one of the best hard rock bands of this era, great to see them still rocking out. If you need any convincing of their chops and their pedigree and honoring their heroes listen to the double album Real To Reel. As a drummer I just loved Troy Lucketta’s playing, he was so locked in with Brian Wheat to provide that foundation for Jeff, Tommy and Keith to lay down their bluesy rock riffs and vocals. Much respect from Fiji….still listening to these guys 30 years later. Spent a bit of time in Sacramento a few years back. Great to be in the hometown of two of my favourite home bands Tesla nd Deftones.
So I'm commenting twice. Oh well...this band, even with out Tommy & Luke, still kicking ass and will always be my favorite band. Your music has always meant a lot to me and not only all of their solo stunts....love it, still trying to catch up on Tommy's new group and Dave Rude's new solo album...etc....love JK gone country and Franks etc.... You guys are bar far the most favorite and best live band ever in my world any ways.... I hope to see you in Vegas in April 24 but if not, maybe Sept of 2 024... If i could retire, i would travel the world with ya.....seriously.... I love your music that much. I've watched a lot of your interviews to know that you guys are just amazing and real, just like us ......I saw you in Vegas in Sept 23 & it just got me into all your old and new music again. I hope you guys keep touring and making new music because you have a special talent that no one else can replace.... I believe..... and I know.....Mama didn't raise no fool..... love you with all my heart. I also want to say, you get me through every day......No other band can do that, ever.....you have my soul.....love you forever....maybe I should get a tatooo?????/
Stellar longevity" they have been delivering nearly as long as the mighty priest. Happy for these members, they really paid there dues within touring, studio practice, also just as thorough as very first tour. Extraordinary only a 1/4 dozen from 80's era are even still within music.
They still sound absolutely amazing. Tesla reminds me of just a really solid, working man/womans 80's band. There's no BS, no filler...just 100% effort to make 100% rock music.
I've been a fan of these guys from the very start, wished but never had the chance to meet or jam with them, it would be a blast! One of the greatest bands ever! Thanks for keeping it going through the years, your biggest fan, V.
At 52:00 - Jeff made dragging that stool out to centre stage look like really tough work! I love these guys. I haven't had the change to see them live, but man... are they ever on my list.
“Thank You” Tesla for covering One of the Greatest Zep songs ever recorded!!!🤘🏼👍 Frank is one Bad Dude🎸 I was waiting for him to Rip Jimmy’s solo from the BBC Session, Page’s Best Solo, imo…
Saw them at one of the last Texas Jams I attended after H.S. in the mid or late 80s, can't remember. They were one of the first few groups of 5 and to me, if not the best bands in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas that day, they were a close 2nd! Timeless group that shows when you're close when you form the band, that band has longevity and lasts, instead of the egos and bullsh*t.
Jeff Keith is one of the nicest guys met him a couple of years ago he was signing autographs after a show and there was a young fan probably like 10 years old trying to get to the front and Jeff ended up jumping the barrier to reach the 10 year old so he can get his shirt signed and told the crowd this is the future right here
I sould have been there. 40 mi away. I need to start watching for Huntsville concerts. Never realized how much this band fit the South. Zep and Skynyrd Aesthetics.
Great Show . I am about 10 feet to your left. Behind the kid with glasses at the barricade. We got a little longer show from tesla with no Bad Marriage.
Thank you for posting this! What a show! And what a seat! Wow! Can’t wait for them to come back through Detroit! The audio quality through my headphones is a 10 and video quality is GREAT! Thank You!!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS! 💗 My favorite band since day 1!! I refer to them as my 'Boys'. My actual 2 boys (sons) know every word to every song. Mom always had them rocking the house. I've had a sadness looming inside, this is the first @teslatheband tour I missed. THANK YOU! I'M ROCKING IT ON MY TV 🔊WITH SURROUND SOUND! 🎉🤸♀️🎤🎶🎸💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
I never got to see them live, and they came and went last summer here in southern Oregon. Before I knew they were playing here. But I’m really happy they are still at it. Carry the torch boys!
I wonder if this is the red SG Steve gifted Frank? "Song and Emotion" still breaks me 30 years after the real genius of Leppard passed. Tesla opened for Leppard and Leppard gave them their big break during the 88/89 In The Round Tour. "Song and Emotion" is the bands dedication to "The Riffmaster"....at the end of the main solo Frank always points to the heavens to remember what Steve did, who he was a person, but also his sheer lyrical, melody, harmony, riffing, hooks and bend legacy and gift. Live Steve was cool on steroids.
@william broadstreet, No disrespect to "Steve Clark" at all I realize "The Riffmaster" was Steve's nickname by his band mates in Def Leppard. But the guitar "riff master" in the guitar world altogether is "Tony Iommi" no doubt about it! Between "Tony Iommi & Jimmy Page," the 2 guitarists that popularized the "Gibson SG guitar." And "Jimmy Page" was "Steve Clark's" biggest influence, and the reason Steve played the "Gibson SG & Les Paul" in the first place. Just saying... R.I.P. "Steve Clark"
