I have a glamping setup for my Volvo XC40 Recharge. I slept in it last night doing a road trip. When you don’t have to pay hotel fees, road trips can happen anytime. I also bring my own food, so only charging cost. Thx for the vid. I enjoyed watching.
I'll leave my feedback about this mattress since I don't see much comment from Model 3 owner. I slept in my M3P at least 20 nights now. We just comeback from a 6 nights hiking trip in the White Mountains NH. The fit in the Model 3 is really good. I'm a 6 foot guy and I have enough space to sleep without touching either the trunk cover or the front seat at it's forward position. Nothing's perfect, I don't know if it's only an issue with the Model 3, but I would want the back seats to be taller to fill the gap for the last foot of the mattress where you head sit. Some people are using front seats support the mattress but then it's starting to squeeze tall guy like me between the backrest and the trunk cover. I'll probably work on something to add extra support. Other than that parking the front of the car to a lower position than the back is helping, I usually end up slipping to the back then my foots are pressing against the trunk cover. The wireless pump never really worked well, battery was always empty and didn't fully charge even plugged for 2 days, I guess I got a bad unit. I bought a cheap Amazon wired unit and it does the job. Thanks for the tips about switching valve side. I'm using the Tesmat Privacy Screen, at first I wanted the Basenor thing like you have but I prefer to be able to get in and out the car without having to resnap anything specially on Model 3 you can't really get out by the trunk. Also like the small packaging. Just cheap and get the job done. This mattress really make us enjoy camping in the Tesla. Always at the right temperature, humidity is controlled, sound insulated. It's always crazy to get up in the morning, getting out of the car to figure out that everyone around packed their things and left without you noticing 😂.
Really good feedback, thank you for taking the time to share this. Over 2 years man. Thats how long it took to get this mattress just right. Still not perfect, but it is such a great blend between comfort and portability. I am proud of this mattress and where it is today. Keep on exploring!
No, wasn’t the valve. It was actually leaking air but not thru the valves tho. That mattress is as comfy or even better than the one on my bed. Well done man. I’m very looking forward to do the same on the Cybertruck.
I have the exact mattress for 2 yrs now, after purchasing 5 other ones, that weren’t comfortable at all. I sleep on a sleep number bed and this is as close to comfort as you can get. I love this mattress. I spoke to Jerry and was asking him about fitted sheets. I’m definitely going to reach out to him. Thanks for explaining the reverse filling of air.
Good morning Justin I think you should change the title to this video. SIM March 2023, draft 3 makes no sense to me. How about Tesla Model Y Mattress version 3? I bet you your video would do better with that! Hope this helps. And by the way, what in the world is SIM?
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Yeah that's much better. I currently have a foam mattress for my Tesla Model Y. Let me know if you want me to test out this new mattress for you if you would want to send me one. I will give you a bangin review!
Just purchased one, don’t travel as used to, but always want to go back and travel more with my wife and our car! Need to find someone who can install frunk for me in FL.
Drove my MYP from NC to the 24 Hrs of Daytona back in January and camped in the camping area. I purchased this mattress a few months in advance to the race after watching your previous review. It was super comfortable the 2 nights I stayed there. I only wish I could get it to deflate to the size it was at when it was shipped. 😂 Hopefully the new bags will be available for sale separately.
You can! So suck out all the air you can before rolling it up. Then cap the valve. Then roll it up. Put the 2 straps on tight and open a valve and suck out air again. Works like a charm!
I have an ethical, etiquette, question for you. If you pull into a hotel charger at dinner time and the car gets fully charged at 9/10, should you get up and move the car so it can be used by someone else?
Of course... what if you pulled into the hotel desperate for a charge... so thankful they offered charging and then you pull around and see someone taking up the charger that no longer needed it? Treat others how you would like to be treated, always.
Is it possible to do a video on how to properly deflate and roll this up? I purchased one for an upcoming road trip and was trying this out at home.. My roll was so poor that I heard the bag rip a little at the seam as I tried to shove it back into the bag 😢
Haha no problem. So close all the valves. Then open just 1. Put the pump on it in revers (the side that sucks air). Suck out as much as you can, then quickly pull the pump out and close the valve. Fold in half, then roll up. Place straps on tight, then open a valve and put the pump back on. Suck out some more air to get the roll tight
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Ok I managed to squeeze it back in, but just barely. One thing I learnt was that we should open but the inner and outer valve when sucking out air, that definitely helped. Still doesn't fit in the sub-trunk tho 😅
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Thank you for the information. I typically wake up between 2:30 - 4:30 for a bathroom need. I didn't know if there was an in-car option. Im researching. 😉
Hello BTG, Thank you for the informative video. I've been researching for the past two days and have narrowed down my options to your product and the Exped MegaMat Auto (at least for now). However, despite watching numerous videos, it seems that no one is addressing the three significant challenges I'm facing, which I'd like to discuss: 1. I own the Model Y 7-seater, and I'm sure you're aware of my concerns. Allow me to elaborate. There are two substantial gaps that make it challenging for me to envision a comfortable sleeping arrangement in the back. The first gap is between the back of the front two seats (driver and front passenger) and where the feet of the backseat passengers would be. The second major gap exists between the standard back row and seats 6 and 7 in the trunk. Could you please share if you've taken any measures to address this issue? 2. Even with all seats folded down, the interior space is far from flat. I've noticed that by placing a few blankets above the bottom trunk, I can somewhat level it out with the reclined seats 6 and 7. However, there is a relatively steep incline for the main back seat. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this matter. 3. I will be traveling with my two young children, ages 10 and 7. After assessing the space today, I am concerned that it may not provide a restful night's sleep, even if my two previous points are addressed. However, I'm hoping my concerns are unfounded because the idea of using my Tesla for a 3-night camping trip sounds fantastic if it's feasible. Lastly, could you recommend a tent that would complement the Tesla for such trips? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Best regards, Misha
Well, I’m not sure I see anything in your message that is a concern. You realize my Y is a 7 seater right? Have you watched any of my longer road trip videos? I sleep in the car, on you guessed it, this mattress…
Hello again, and thank you for your response. While I haven't had a chance to watch your other videos yet, I intend to do so soon. But you didn't fully address my questions about how you handle the issues I noticed in my Tesla with the two major gaps. Specifically, I'd like to know how the mattress you featured deals with these issues. Additionally, can you share whether you believe the mattress can comfortably accommodate one adult and two kids for a good night's sleep in the Tesla? Thank you for your help.@@BeardedTeslaGuy
This anybody have a solution for the incline on the mattress that comes from the rear seats? Sliding toward the trunk causes me to wake up and I'm wondering if there's a better way to handle this
Yea, you can get just something to work for much cheaper. If you want max comfort and custom design, then you pay for 1 of hundreds, don’t have the volume of thousands unfortunately
@bearded Tesla guy. Just to clarify, if I wanted a mattress to fit the back of my Y completely (no big gaps on the side) there is that mattress option?
I don’t have issues with that. By having the front seats pushing back against it I seem to have no issues with it staying firm up there. Some people put down a cargo cover underneath.
You said that if you didn’t want to fold a small there is a bag to put it in. Does this mean it comes with two different bags one if you fold it in half and one if you don’t?
How long should the mattress take in air the first time? Got mine today. Have laid it out on a flat floor, and in the middle it is thick, and on the side the mattress is thin. it is also quite deformed. 30 minutes now.
It’ll take at least an hour. The thing I like to do when it’s been stored a bit is pump it full of air and then when I pull the pump off, let air out that naturally comes out before putting the cap back on
It’s a 1 way valve. So to let air in, you open both. To let air out, you just open 1. This lets air out, but when you let go, air doesn’t come rushing back in. Helps with the rolling and deflation
I watched another video review and this guy travels extensively. He said his one complaint was he could not get it small enough to fit back in the sub truck. Do you do that on a regular basis? I understand it might fit when you get it from the factory, but what about when you’re using it and trying to deflate it again he said, even with the pump deflating it he still can roll it up small enough.
I have no issues sucking out air and rolling it up. The extra step I take though is when I roll it up, I put the straps on, then open a valve and suck out some more air to shrink it a bit more
QUESTION🆘: IF I recall correctly you CANNOT do CAMP MODE with SENTRY MODE ? But you CAN do "DOG MODE with SENTRY MODE ? Do you, or anyone recommend the latter for better SECURITY ⁉
I push the front seats back a bit once in place to give it something to push against. I have never had an issue personally and I have slept on this mattress a LOT
@@BeardedTeslaGuy thanks. I will dig deeper into your channel. I was at dinner with a friend last night and he told me" you really need to follow Beared Tesla Guy, did you see his mattress video?" No kidding.
Ok love your adventures. Was ready to get your mattress but Brian Hauer switched to Exped because he couldn't get it as small as you did. How can I get yours smallest to fit in back storage or even frunk?
My mattress is always located in a 4 or preferably 5 star hotel. We also need a comfortable bathroom with shower and space with WiFi. No sleeping in my Tesla.
"I wish you could see what I am seeing right now" is a line that is acceptable on a PODCAST. Your face is going to take up 90% of the video, if you really wanted to show us, you just would.
